AFI recognizes “Harry Potter” film series with special award
The American Film Institute (AFI) voted for a special award for the entire Harry Potter film series on Sunday. The AFI Awards, which focuses on American features, cited ten movies and ten television programs of the year.
The movies of the year were: Bridesmaids, The Descendants, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Help, Hugo, J. Edgar, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, and The War Horse.
The selections were made by a jury that was chaired by Tom Pollock for the movies, and also included Whoopi Goldberg, fim historian Leonard Maltin, university professors, critics and members of the AFI board of trustees.
The creative ensemble behind the chosen film will be honored at an invitation-only luncheon on January 13, 2012 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.
Once again, congratulations to the cast and crew for another award nomination.
