Coming Soon: “Secrets Behind the Dark Arts Revealed” at WB Studio Tour
For one week only visitors will learn how the Dark Arts were brought to life in the Harry Potter films. Discover how costumes were developed for the most infamous characters. Come face-to-face with Death Eaters and learn about the make up techniques used to help the actors get into character.
Over 500 of the original potions jars are on display and each have handwritten labels. Learn what the “real” contents of some of these jars are. Additionally, you will be able to see a few of the remaining prophecy jars from the Department of Mysteries, and so much more to see and do.
Some of the Dark Arts Facts from the films:
- An extra layer of fabric was added to Voldemort’s costume every time he became more powerful. During filming for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix over 50 metres of silk were used.
- Aragog, the giant spider, was covered by hand with yak hair, sisal and hemp from brooms.
- The make-up effects used to create the Dark Lord included temporary tattoos for veins, enhanced cheekbones, contact lenses and false eyebrows, fingernails and teeth.
- Each werewolf prosthetic was made with real goat hair that was inserted strand-by-strand.
