J.K. Rowling received philanthropy honors at Beacon Awards last night
During the 8th Annual Beacon Awards that were held last night at Mansion House in London, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was one of thirty-three individuals to receive an award for philanthropy from the Beacon Fellows. Miss Rowling was honored with a Beacon Award for Targeted Philanthropy.
Rowling was recognized for her incredible work of her foundation the Volant Charitable Trust. According to an article in Civil Society, Rowling stated:
“None of us who are privileged in our daily lives and fortunate enough to have more money than we need should require a pat on the back for the act of giving, but we do need help to spread the word that responsible giving can make a difference; to individuals and communities, locally, nationally and internationally.”
Congratulations on another outstanding honor Miss Rowling!
