New York Film Festival to honor Ralph Fiennes
On October 9, as Ralph Fiennes’ film The Invisible Woman premieres at the 51st New York Film Festival, the actor will simultaneously be honored by the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
Executive Director of the Film Society, Rose Kuo, lauded Fiennes’ performances as having “brilliantly embodied the larger-than-life creations of writers such as Shakespeare, Dickens, and Graham Green, among others, and given us an extraordinary body of work to celebrate”. In addition to his role as an actor in his new film, Fiennes also directed The Invisible Woman, which Kuo called “truly one of the noteworthy films of this year”.
The Film Society is hosting a gala dinner in his honor prior to the tribute, which will be supported by Esquire. According to The Film Society’s website, general public tickets to these events will be available on September 8 after a Member pre-sale period.
Most fans of the Harry Potter series know Fiennes in his role as Voldemort, but his film credits include a wide range of roles, such as a modern-day retelling of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, which was also his directorial debut; the romantic lead in Maid In Manhattan, and a critically acclaimed role in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List.
