Part of Their World
to the tune of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid
HERMIONE:
Look at these books,
Aren’t they all neat,
Wouldn’t you think
My collection’s complete,
Wouldn’t you think I’m a girl,
A girl who knows everything?
Look at these tomes,
Knowledge untold,
How many wonders
Can non-fiction hold,
Looking all through them you’d think,
Sure, they’ve got everything.
They have spells,
Incantations and jinxes,
They have hexes
And curses and more,
Want the leg-locker curse?
They have that too.
But who cares, no big deal,
I want more.
I wanna be where the cool people are,
I wanna see, wanna see them playing,
Flying around on those,
What do you call them?
Oh, brooms.
Being a nerd you don’t get too far,
Brooms are required for chasing,
Beating, scoring goals on the,
What’s that word again? Pitch.
Where they all joke,
Where they have fun,
Out where they all play all day in the sun,
Trouble is free, wish I could be,
Part of their world.
What would I give if I could live
Out of this library,
What would I pay if I could play
Rather than read,
Bet you on brooms they can all zoom,
Bet they can loop and dive and spiral.
Bright young women, sick of playing,
Ready to read.
And ready to know,
What Hermione knows,
They’ll ask me questions,
And I’ll give answers,
What’s a phoenix and why does it,
What’s the word, burn?
When’s it their turn,
Wouldn’t they love
To see the world of Hermione.
They’d be with me,
And I would be
Part of their world.
