Bonnie Wright teams up with Oxfam to support Mother Appeal
The project is described as follows:
“We know that mothers everywhere want the best for their children. But when every day is a struggle to feed their families, it takes almost superhuman strength to succeed. By getting together with friends, family and work colleagues for Oxfam’s Mother Appeal, you will help give mothers worldwide the lift they need to change the future.”
The money raised will support three projects in Bangladesh, Tajikistan, and Zambia. The British Government has promised to match all money raised, pound for pound.
The launch breakfast took place at Maison Bertaux in Soho. Bonnie spoke about how close to the appeal she was, having visited Senegal for Oxfam in 2012. She said that,
“It was amazing to meet people with so little who had such generosity of spirit, […] their hope and optimism was so strong. The women I spoke to said that the most important thing for them was to be able to provide their kids with an education because it’s the only way to break out of poverty.”
