HBO, BBC to co-produce “Casual Vacancy” miniseries
The announcement was made almost as soon as the book was released, and today, we have confirmation that HBO and BBC will co-produce an adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s first post-Potter book. According to The Wrap, the series will be in three one-hour segments that will air on both networks.
Further, the series will be produced by Bronte Film and Television, a production company that Rowling herself helps run. The series will be screenwritten by Sarah Phelps (EastEnders, BBC’s Great Expectations, The Crimson Field), produced by Ruth Kenley-Letts, and directed by Jonny Campbell. Production will begin this summer in South West England. No release date has been indicated.
