Tights, Corsets, and Directing: Alan Rickman Talks “A Little Chaos” at the London Film Festival
Despite having nearly a dozen films in the festival, Potter talent has been thin on the ground at the London Film Festival these past ten days. However, last night, bona fide fan favorite Alan Rickman graced the red carpet for the screening of his latest directorial project, A Little Chaos, starring Kate Winslet, Helen McCrory, and himself, as King Louis XIV.
Although a brief affair, we did manage to grab a quick moment with Rickman on the red carpet.
MuggleNet: You attributed the delay to going back into directing to Potter. Were you approached with the script during Potter? Was this something you have been working on for a while?
Rickman: I can’t even remember now! Once you’re doing something like Harry Potter, even though I was only doing seven weeks a year on it, it just makes it impossible to direct another movie. You need a year and a half of your time.
When asked why he chose to direct a period drama, Rickman also commented, “I didn’t think of it as a period drama; I just think of it as a story that happens to be wearing those clothes. They’re just a bit longer and less comfortable!”
You can listen to the full recording below, featuring questions from Empire Magazine and Soho Picturebook.
A Little Chaos is due for release in the UK and US in early 2015.
