Tom Felton to direct new BBC Three documentary, appear at conventions
Tom Felton is best known for his work in front of the camera as Harry Potter’s rival, Draco Malfoy, but he’s about to step behind the camera, too! As announced by Digital Spy, the actor is soon to make his directorial debut, and what could be a better way to do that than with a BBC Three documentary on film and television conventions and the fans who attend them? The documentary, called Tom Felton: Meet the Fanatics, will show Felton attending fan conventions, as well as talking with other celebrities and his Harry Potter co-stars “to work out how someone can become so attached to a book, movie or TV show and at what point the fan becomes the fanatic.”
Filming will begin at Wizard World Tulsa, which will be held at the Cox Business Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from November 7-9. As Tulsa World writes, Felton will be in attendance at the convention on November 8 and November 9.
Following his appearance in Oklahoma, Felton will return to the UK for MCM Birmingham Comic Con, where the documentary will also be filmed. The convention will be held on November 22 and 23 at the NEC.
Tom Felton: Meet the Fanatics is one of six new one-off documentaries commissioned by BBC Three. No broadcast date for the documentary has been announced, yet.
Do you consider yourself a “fanatic” when it comes to all things Potter? Will you be attending Wizard World Tulsa or Birmingham Comic Con? Where do you draw the line between “fan” and “fanatic” – or is there a line at all? Be sure to tell us what you think in the comments!
