Georgina Leonidas shines in “Beauty and the Beast”
Georgina Leonidas, who played Katie Bell in the Harry Potter films, is excelling in her role as Belle in the stage version of Beauty and the Beast. The show, currently running at the Theatre Royal Windsor in Berkshire, England, has been receiving many rave reviews.
We first posted about the show back in November, and audiences have been loving it so far!
The show, first performed in 1993, tells the classic French tale of Belle falling in love with the Beast as a pantomime – a theatrical show mainly for children with music, jokes, and slapstick comedy. This version also has modern twists that children will love, such as characters Postman Pat and Basil Brush, popular British television characters.
With its impressive costumes and set, Beauty and the Beast also includes many interactive elements to keep the kids happy, which include,
Giant footballs flying round the room, getting squirted with water, and toilet rolls and a bra thrown around during the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ song. There were also plenty of pop songs for the children to sing along to, including One Direction and unsurprisingly, a rendition of Frozen favorite ‘Let It Go.’
Even with the show being geared toward children, adults are taken care of as well, with many jokes throughout to keep them entertained, many of which go over the children’s heads.
This impressive all-singing, all-dancing show is now running at the Theatre Royal Windsor until January 11. Tickets can be bought at the box office or here on their website.
