First Look at Daniel Radcliffe in “Swiss Army Man”!
Daniel Radcliffe is a corpse.
No, that’s not a comment on his acting abilities. He is literally a corpse in his next film, Swiss Army Man, which is debuting this month at Sundance Film Festival.
Photos of Dan and his co-star Paul Dano, who recently starred alongside Jim Broadbent (Professor Horace Slughorn) in the remake of Tolstoy’s War and Peace, surfaced today via Indiewire. Take a look at the three stills below:
In addition to the photos, we have a concrete synopsis of the film, which sheds light on the story and changes our perspective on what we originally thought was more of a dark buddy comedy.
Alone on a tiny deserted island, Hank has given up all hope of ever making it home again. But one day everything changes when a dead body washes ashore, and he soon realizes it may be his last opportunity to escape certain death. After befriending the corpse and gradually discovering his special powers, the duo go[es] on an epic adventure to bring Hank back to the woman of his dreams.
What really has our minds whirring is a very specific line in the lower part of the plot description from Indiewire that reads more like a review of the film, which also just happens to reveal that this film is a musical. Say what?
Music video gurus DANIELS, a.k.a. Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, craft a wholly original debut feature bursting with limitless creativity both in content and form. Their consistently surprising script spans a wide range of emotions: from the ridiculously absurd to a touching exploration of what it means to be human. Not to mention, it’s a musical. Given what are likely to be some of the most unique roles of their acting careers, co-leads Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe give their all to a movie that celebrates the wonder that cinema offers.
Dan is definitely capable of pulling off a musical role, considering his work on Broadway. If this is true, fans who missed out on his Broadway performances are going to get to see a whole new side of the talented star. The film will premiere at the festival today, January 22.
