Hagrid’s Fantastic Beast of the Month: The Hidebehind
‘Ello!! Welcome back ter Hagrid’s Fantastic Beast of the Month! I am Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper o’ Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. Hope that yeh’ll realize kritters aren’ all bad.
This month we are gonna be talkin’ ’bout a kritter called a Hidebehind. A couple o’ books mention the Hidebehind. Like Fearsome Critters by Henry H. Tryon and The Hodag and Other Tales of the Logging Camps by Lake Shore Kearney. ‘Twas also featured on a Muggle show called Gravity Falls and SpeakBeasty, o’ course.
SpeakBeasty was saying that it is over six feet tall, with a slim body. This lets it hide behind anything, even a tree ten inches in diameter. It has a long black pelt with a tail like a French Sheepdog. It has claws like a bear that are sharp as can be. It seems that yeh can’ tell if it’s comin’ or goin’ ’cause it don’ have a face, or if it does have a face no one’s been able ter find it. I can’ imagine walkin’ in the woods and havin’ a Hidebehind jump out at yeh… horrible.
Its favorite thing ter eat is intestines. It jumps out from behind trees makin’ a racket howlin’ an’ laughin’ as it uses its sharp claws ter disembowel its prey in one swipe. They do continue on ter say that it has never attacked someone who was drunk ’cause it hates the smell o’ alcohol. A bottle o’ beer was carried as repellent. Good thing I always got a bottle o’ brandy with me at all times!!
Thanks fer readin’, and I hope you learned something! Remember ter check out SpeakBeasty! Don’ forget ter follow the spiders and check out the most recent episode of SpeakBeasty!!
