Could Jared Harris Play Dumbledore in “Fantastic Beasts” Sequel?
Actor Jared Harris has addressed the speculation that he could be playing a young Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Fans have been calling for Harris to play the character ever since the film’s director David Yates and producer David Heyman confirmed that a younger version of the wizard will make his first appearance in 2018’s untitled sequel.
The Mad Men actor, whose late father Richard Harris played Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films, revealed to the Evening Standard that he hasn’t been contacted by the film bosses but believes that they are “thinking about it.”
They’re obviously thinking about it. I haven’t heard anything, and I don’t expect to. It’s not up to me.
Harris also said he was skeptical about film bosses considering the pleas of fans:
Having seen [fan campaigns] before, I find that [film bosses] don’t like to have their hands forced. These campaigns almost always go in a different direction.
Lots of names have been suggested so far, but we definitely think that Harris is a strong contender for the role. What are your thoughts? Would you like to see him take on the character?
