First Official Look at “Paddington 2”
Paddington 2, the sequel to Paddington (released back in January 2015), is being released on January 12, 2018, and with it comes a cast full of Harry Potter stars! There was much praise for the adaptation of Michael Bond’s beloved children’s book when it hit theaters back in 2015. One can only hope that Paddington 2 is as lovable and entertaining as the first movie!
The official first trailer was released on May 30, 2017, and you can view that here:
This sequel follows Paddington, who is now happily settled with the Brown family, as he tries to find the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday. He spots the perfect little pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique store and picks up a series of odd jobs to get it. When the book is stolen before Paddington can buy it, he takes it upon himself to take down the thief with the rest of the Brown family.
There are four actors from Potter who will be a part of this whimsical sequel. Brendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye Moody) is playing “Knuckles” McGinty, Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn) is taking the screen as Mr. Gruber, Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) will be playing Mrs. Bird, and Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge) will be voicing Paddington’s Aunt Lucy.
Paddington 2 has one more Potter member up its sleeve in the form of David Heyman. He will be producing along with Rosie Alison and Alexandra Ferguson-Derbyshire. Heyman produced all eight Harry Potter films along with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. He is producing Paddington 2 with his production company, Heyday Films.
Paddington 2 is set to be released on November 10, 2017, in the UK and January 12, 2018, in the US. Will you be going to see if Paddington can get the perfect present for Aunt Lucy in time?
