“Entertainment Weekly” Offers an Exclusive First Look at Young Newt Scamander!
Only days ago, we were treated to a new image from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and now we have our first glimpse of a young Newt Scamander, thanks to an exclusive new photo from Entertainment Weekly!
The image shows a young Newt (played by Joshua Shea) at Hogwarts, standing next to Albus Dumbledore in a pose that is reminiscent of the boggart scene from Lupin’s classroom in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Now, we know that Dumbledore doesn’t teach Defence Against the Dark Arts (he’s a Transfiguration professor), but the new image poses many other questions. What is Dumbledore doing in the DADA classroom? Is he substituting for DADA Professor Galatea Merrythought? We need answers!
Additionally, what could this image be telling us about Newt’s relationship with his professor? Will it be similar to Harry’s relationship to Dumbledore, or more like the relationship between Harry and his favorite DADA professor? Also, why is Newt looking so frightened? We can’t wait to find out!
If that wasn’t enough Fantastic Beasts news, Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) also gave Entertainment Weekly the scoop on Newt’s relationship with Leta Lestrange:
Leta, it’s one of those relationships where there was definitely great love there…But was it ever a full-blown relationship? I don’t know. But certainly, she’s somebody who has touched him hugely. At the beginning of this film you realize she’s now in a relationship with Newt’s brother so of course, that comes with great complications.
What could these “great complications” be? How does this affect Newt’s relationship with his brother, Theseus? Leta Lestrange is a character we’re really looking forward to meeting in the new film, and we can’t wait to learn more about her character!
What do you think is going on in the new image? How will Theseus and Leta be featured in the film? Let us know in the comments!
