Full Event Schedule For “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” New York Exhibition Released!
The Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibition ran to resounding success in the United Kingdom from October 20, 2017, to February 28, 2018, at the British Library in London, England. Now, though, from October 5, 2018, to January 27, 2019, the exhibition will reside at the New-York Historical Society Museum and Library.
Over the course of the exhibition, centuries-old artifacts such as rare books, manuscripts, and magical objects taken straight from the archives of Scholastic and J.K. Rowling herself will be open to the public! Some of these featured objects will be available for public viewing for the very first time, making this a must-see experience.
Yet the objects themselves aren’t the only reason to visit the exhibition. The New-York Historical Society has planned a full schedule of events for Harry Potter fans to enjoy.
One particular highlight will occur on January 9 with Jim Dale, the voice behind the US audiobooks of Harry Potter, who will give a talk to discuss the process behind creating individual voices of the over 200 characters present throughout the novels!
Dale isn’t the only Harry Potter guest to appear for a talk. On October 25, Mary GrandPré, the original illustrator of the Harry Potter books in the US, and Brian Selznick, who designed the 20th-anniversary covers of the Harry Potter series, will appear to discuss their different approaches to illustrating the series and turning the prose into pictures.
For all those harboring a desire to study at Hogwarts, there are crafting sessions based around subject themes such as Transfiguration and Care of Magical Creatures. At these Potions and Paintings nights, fans will even be able to create and take home their own painting!
The exhibition will feature fan-led events too. Growing Up with Harry Potter on January 7 will feature an open mic night for fans to express their passion and personal journey with the wizarding world.
So whether you fancy creating your own Harry Potter illustrations, testing your knowledge at a trivia night, or going owl-spotting in Central Park, don’t wait to buy your ticket!
