How to Win the Centaur Duel in “Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery”
If you found our tips for beating boggart Voldemort (Boggdemort) helpful in Year 3, get ready for some help with the big duel in Year 4, Chapter 6: you versus Torvus the centaur.
In this chapter, you’ll find yourself confronted with a centaur named Torvus while in the Forbidden Forest. This leads to one of the most challenging duels of the game, but here are some tips to keep in mind to maximize your chances of success.
As we’ve reported before, the duels in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery involve each opponent choosing a stance at the beginning of each round to determine who gets to move. Whoever chooses the winning stance will get the turn. Aggressive stances beat Sneaky stances, Sneaky stances beat Defensive stances, and Defensive stances beat Aggressive stances. Whoever won the round can then cast a defensive, aggressive, or healing spell or drink a healing potion.
In the duel with Torvus, it’s important to note that he uses mostly spells that drain your energy over time. This means that you need to continue to heal over several rounds. The best way to do this is to drink a Wiggenwald Potion to restore your energy over several rounds, though if your health is dangerously low, it’s a good idea to do a quick heal first by casting Episkey. You can access these spells and potions through the Defensive stance, and since Torvus mostly uses the Aggressive stance, that works in your favor.
Sometimes Torvus will use a Sneaky stance, in which case you would win with the Aggressive stance and should then cast Depulso to deal the most damage possible. You should focus on dealing as much damage as you can when you get the chance, rather than worrying about dealing damage over several rounds like he might be.
If you follow these guidelines, you should have no problem defeating Torvus in this difficult duel. Let us know in the comments how it worked out!
