“Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery”: Adopt Two New Pets and Wish Hagrid a Happy Birthday with New Side Quest

Loyal players of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery are eagerly awaiting the release of Year 5, Chapter 3. The wait can be excruciating, so while fans are counting the days until the new release, Jam City has added some new content to keep them busy.

The latest update includes some awesome new content for fans to sift through, like the House Pride Event and some new pets. The new pets include a Crup – a wizard-bred dog that strongly resembles a Jack Russel Terrier except for its forked tail – and a magical creature that players encountered in Year 4 called a Streeler. A Streeler is a giant snail that changes color on an hourly basis and leaves a venomous trail. These new pets (pictured below) can be adopted by using the new notebook currency that can only be obtained by participating in the House Pride Event.

In addition to the House Pride Event and new pets, a new side quest has also been made available. This limited-time side quest is called Happy Birthday, Hagrid! and players have about three days to complete it. The quest is broken down into four parts, with each part having a variety of objectives players need to complete in order to proceed to the next phase.

As with all previous side quests, players will unlock special rewards after completing each stage. Completing the first two parts will unlock coins, whereas completing the third part of the quest will unlock some much-sought-after gems. Those who manage to complete all four parts of the quest before the timer runs out will unlock an exclusive cosmetic item.

Something interesting about this new side quest is that, chronologically, it seems to take place during Year 1 since it unlocks a new charm spell for Year 1 students called Charm to Cure Reluctant Reversers. Players are able to learn this new spell without earning stars in the classroom, which makes it easier to obtain than usual. Another bonus is that learning the spell rewards players with five gems.

There is some more evidence that this side quest is taking place in Year 1. For example, players encounter various dialogue options that require very low attribute levels to unlock and they also duel against weak opponents who can easily be taken out by a single spell.

With the new pets that are available to adopt, the House Pride Event, and the new side quest, players will surely have something to keep them busy until the release of Year 5, Chapter 3.

Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter and my love for the stories grew as I got older. It’s no surprise then that I love writing about all things Potter related. When I’m not writing about all the magic, you’ll find me reading (probably something Harry Potter related), listening to music, or writing some songs.
