LEGO Wins Award for Hogwarts Castle
Congratulations go out to LEGO Harry Potter this week for winning the Licensed Product of the Year award!
On January 23, the UK Toy Industry Awards were held at London Toy Fair 2019. The LEGO Group won the award for its Harry Potter set called 71043 Hogwarts Castle.
The LEGO Hogwarts Castle set includes over 6,000 pieces to build and assemble the castle, Hagrid’s hut, and the Whomping Willow. Also included are 27 microfigures, plus an additional four minifigures of the Hogwarts founders: Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor, and Rowena Ravenclaw. Once built, the castle measures 22 inches high, 27 inches wide, and 16 inches deep.
The set was released in August 2018 and was highly anticipated by Harry Potter fans since rumors of its existence popped up that same summer. After the release, MuggleNet was able to interview set designer Justin Ramsden about his creation. During the interview, Ramsden spoke about his favorite parts, biggest challenges, and design decisions in creating the set.
The most difficult part of designing the LEGO Hogwarts Castle was creating it in, what we call, microscale – a LEGO building style in which models are constructed smaller than in standard minifigure scale.
