Wizarding World Digital Launches Fan Club, New Sorting Ceremony, and Website
Wizarding World Digital (formerly Pottermore) has announced the launch of the Official Harry Potter Fan Club, the new Wizarding World website, AND the new Sorting Ceremony. Let’s take a look at what this all actually means for Potter fans.
Pottermore announced its new website on its previous site, letting readers know that Pottermore.com will redirect to WizardingWorld.com and encouraging fans to create their Wizarding Passports. Your Passport features your Hogwarts House, your wand, and your Patronus and can be accessed on the new Wizarding World app or on the website.
Pottermore first announced the transition to Wizarding World Digital back in May, and it seems the time has finally come. Take a peek at what the new site will look like. The new name and look seem to be an attempt to bring Fantastic Beasts more into the Potterverse.
We’ve also known about the Wizarding World app for a while, and the app is available for download now in several locations. Wizarding World Digital says that the app is “packed with fresh content including exclusive videos, interactive quizzes and Secret Codes, plus the new fanzine, ‘Wizarding Weekly’, putting the best of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts right at your fingertips.” Check out the video below for a look at the app if you haven’t been able to download it yet.
The announcement of the official fan club is new. The free club will provide members with a newsletter and member benefits. It’s unclear exactly what these benefits might entail. Special events at the theme parks? Discounts on Fantastic Beasts movie tickets?
We’ll have to wait and see, but fans with a few extra Galleons can join a more exclusive club: Wizarding World Gold, “a yearly paid subscription that comes with a unique, annual gift and is packed with exclusives and special offers.” There’s been no confirmation yet on the price of this subscription or what might be included in the exclusives and offers.
We heard that a new Sorting Ceremony quiz would be coming soon, and it looks like it’s here. Wizarding World Digital says it is still J.K. Rowling’s original questions but features a new augmented reality Sorting Hat. The site seems confident that the new ceremony won’t cause you any House confusion, stating it will allow users to “reaffirm their [H]ouse pride.” Check out the House pride video below and head to the site or the app to try the new Sorting Ceremony quiz.
