In a new interview with the Press Association, Tom Felton reflects on his years with the Harry Potter film franchise. Interestingly enough, Felton--who plays Harry Potter's nemesis Draco Malfoy--originally auditioned for the role of Harry.I went for Harry for about five times and then Ron for a couple more and ended up dying my hair blond for Draco. I had my hair dyed brown, ginger and then blond and finally they got it right.

Q: How long have you been playing guitar?
A: I dunno, that’s a bit of a funny one, that. It’s a bit like, “How long have you been walking?” I’ve been HOLDING a guitar for maybe… well, I got my first real guitar on my nineteenth birthday, and I’ll be twenty-two this September. So, I mean, I know I had played before I got that guitar, but I had never really played seriously. So, I’m coming up on two or two and a half years, if that makes sense.

SnitchSeeker and Feltbeats recently interviewed the actor who plays Draco in the Potter films. In it, Tom discusses what he does on set in between takes:FB: So, their next question is: "Have you ever brought your guitar onto the set of Harry Potter, and if so, have you ever jammed with any of the other actors?"
TF: Evvvvveryday. That's where I learned to play guitar! It's no secret that there can be quite a lot of time-waiting on the film set. I just took a guitar in... Actually, the first person who started showing me stuff was my driver. I had the same driver from the first film, a very nice guy called Jimmy Adams. He actually played the left-handed guitar, and obviously I'm right handed. But, it was a little bit tricky then to show me anything decent. Now, he showed me a couple of moves, and he's been a great resource. I just learned pretty much from there.

OK! Magazine is reporting that earlier today, Potter film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton (with his girlfriend) visited the stuntman who was seriously injured on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:The actors appeared shaken upon leaving the hospital, and with due cause – Holmes has been Daniel's body double for all of the Harry Potter movies, and the injuries to his spine could cause paralysis.

Additionally, Tom spoke with Heat Radio the other day and discussed Potter and music. When it came to a question about Half-Blood Prince Tom didn't hesitate to reveal how big of a film he thinks it is:
BD: And, tell us about “The Half Blood Prince” movie, what can we expect?
TF: A lot, a lot, I mean obviously I’m restricted, I haven’t seen much, I limit myself to how much I actually watch whilst we’re shooting it. It was an seven month shoot and I was there throughout, and for what I’ve seen and done, it’s gunna be a… it’s gunna be an epic film.

Fan site FeltBeats.com has scored a very nice interview with the actor who plays Draco Malfoy in the Potter films. In it, he discusses Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows, and a whole lot more. In the HBP portion of the interview, he was asked if he was excited about having a more prominent role in the film:Tom: Yeah, sure. When David Yates dragged me [aside] at the beginning of it and said, “I have full faith in you,” yadda yadda, and I hope that you’re going to embrace the role and so forth. And I was fairly terrified. We did a read-through with Michael Gambon, and I was petrified at the thought of the final scene.
But after that, I guess I sort of learned a lot on the set, and David Yates was really my motivation. He was very, very, complimentary of everything he saw and very good with direction. He knew exactly what to say to get the results he wanted. And what the producers saw, they were very, very happy as well. And that sort of spurred me on even further. And, it was great fun. I really, really enjoyed it more than any other film, without a doubt. Sort of, embracing the role, if you will, and making the most of it.
You can see the entire interview at these links: Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3. A fourth part to the interview will be online in a few days. Thanks to HPANA for the tip!
Scholastic: What's your opinion of Draco?
Tom: Not a very pleasant one, I assure you. I figure, I think of him as a misled only child who's been slightly bullied into his state of mind, if you will. But in long short, he is a nasty bit of work. A bit of a slimy, troublesome character who's not really up for any good and certainly the benefit of anyone else.
Scholastic: Well, my next question was going to be, "Do you think people misunderstand him?" But I guess you already answered that.
Tom: Well, I suppose, "yes" would be the answer. By the same token, he doesn't do a great job of trying to convince otherwise, does he?
There are reasons that Draco is the way he is. He’s seen so many things and been taught so many wrong ideas from his father, Lucius, and of course he worships his father.
