JKR: I 'absolutely howled' when finishing Book 7
An interview with JK Rowling is set to appear on the Jonathan Ross show which begins tonight at 10:35 on BBC One. The Telegraph has posted a preview of this interview (which was recorded yesterday), where they quote her as saying:"Finishing the book is a relief. I can't think of anyone who could know how I felt. Actually finishing it was the most remarkable feeling I've ever had... [I felt] euphoria, devastated, when I finished one chapter near the end I absolutely howled, it had been planned for so long.
"I was in a hotel room on my own, sobbing my heart out. I downed half a bottle of champagne in one and went home with mascara all over my face. It was really tough."
We'll have a video of this interview online shortly after it airs, so stay tuned to MuggleNet tonight!

Whoa...that's got to be a weird feeling...completing the series after working on it for 16-17 years!
"I was in a hotel room on my own, sobbing my heart out. I downed half a bottle of champagne in one and went home with mascara all over my face. It was really tough." Oh bugger, if she cred like that imagine how we will be!
poor Joe. Wow i can t imagine her feeling afterfinishign he book. it ust have been amazing! WE LOV U JOE!!!
Yeah.... It would take a lot out of me. WRITE SOME MORE!!!!! umm... SEQUEL???
is my comment in top ten??? If JKR cried so much... imagine the state of us, poor fans!!!!!
TT.TT There there Jo, it'll all be over soon. XD
Ooohhh. Poor Jo. If it's hard for us fans, I can't imagine what it was like for you. This is actually your life. Now you get to see it on the big screen in 2010! =)
I know how sad that would be, I remember years ago thinking, Im so glad we still have ages to go, and now, the chapter is closed for her, and us in a few short days. Aussies, in Perth, harry potter meetup group recruiting - megblack89@mugglenet.com
Wow, I'm looking foward to seeing this interview- should be interesting. Now, I know that it must of been a hard time for Jo, but really, ALCOHOL IS NOT THE ANSWER. :P
Jk's so cool, some people through she might have rushed but i knew she hadnt..cant wait to read it..
Well when you think about it - to her it's been her Life.. She was struggling when she first wrote Harry Potter and now look at her one of the wealthiest in the world. Over the years she's poured everything into Harry and now it's over. We get to read it again and again - she will never be writting it again. I can bet her hand was shaking a bit when she was writing the last sentence of the book.
oh man i'm so excited! i just hope that the real reason she was crying was because she was sad that it was over, not because of what happens in the book.
OMG-SPOILER-LITTLE ONE AT THAT!! In that interview...Jo said the last word has changed!! Its not "scar!" But scar will appear near the end!! Here-beware Jo curses so language bit unsuitable! lol www.bbc.co.uk/pres soffice and then top story! ryan
We all feel sorry fo Jo cuz we love the books she wrote and we are her loyal fans for life!! :( :( :( :( :(
you are giving me an heartattack jo...i can't wait to read it....n i too feel sad.....i noe how u feel...i can't imagine...that...how on earth will i spend next and the rest SUMMER WITHOUT HARRY POTTER BOOKS????
I love JK and I trust her. The last book is going to be great...
its must have been so hard to finish a book that took a long time of your life. I think she's a really awesome writer and hope that i will love the final harry potter. I hope she will write more after that too! :]
I'm going to cry too :( Some of us have grown up with Harry (like me) and it's going to be sad to see it all end. At least we'll have the books and movies to watch and read over and over and over again!
uh oh...sounds like she killed harry to me...
ginnypotter719: sounds like that to me too...*bawls*
aww, poor joe, She got us this far, Im with her no matter how she ends it, i'm sure it will be amazing..
if she cryed her eyes out, i'd better be getting a box of tissues ready. but honestly, what would she be crying that hard about?

This scares me! Its probably a death that makes her cry so I'll probably get the tissues ready! OMG THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im getting teary-eyed just reading this, i know ill bawl when i read the book.
Omg... I can't imagine how she feels. but I know that Harry was my only companion through my dork days in middle school, my loner days in high school, and my escape during my first two grueling years of college, even helped my cope with my dad's death. I grew up with him. Now its my 3rd year in college, im getting ready for medical school, I find myself crying like an 11 year old! He represents so much of my childhood. I dnt know if Im ready to let that go just yet *tear* :-(
I don't think her crying is indicative of her killing anyone (particularly Harry). I think she just started crying because such a HUGE and life changing part of her life was finally over. It's emotional! I'd cry too if I'd finally accomplished something like that. :)
awwwww, I'm gonna cry when it's done. I'm dreading July 21.
Well Champagne is soothing some times but hey I dont blame her. But you know what? I think Jo has somemore tricks up her sleeve. I dont think Harry Potter will be gone forever. My intuition is always right. I always follow it. Well dont fret. Because you know what? We still have mugglenet to let us express our uber awesome writing talents. Love you mugglenet :X
That will be me when I finish reading it, (expept Im a guy, so minus the mascara, and since I am only 13, minus the champagne.)
OMGG i will cry so much. Harry Potter is what got me so interested in reading. tears*
Like everyone else the love I have for these characters is endless and I hope that my kids will love it as much as my husband and I have. But I have to agree with pheonixsong719 I don't think Harry and the gang will be gone for good. I really think (or it is great wishful thinking) that down the road we might see what their up to as adults with some really great character driven stories....wouldn't that be exciting and likewise we have mugglenet to keep our imaginations and the stories we come up with to keep us going until then. May Jo be inspired in the years to come and so may we fan fic fans!
QUOTE: "when I finished one chapter near the end I absolutely howled, it had been planned for so long." It sounds to me as though either she killed someone that was very very very important to her (ie. Hermione, Ron, Harry) OR something happened that she could relate to and that would make her very sad (Mrs Weasley dying). I prefer Mrs Weaseley dying, even though it may sound harsh, but gosh do I ever hope it isn't Harry - he needs to make it - has to!
how did jo deal with it..... but i gotta agree with swans_rule_the_afl that alcohol is not the answer . i feel REALLY sorry 4 jo.... i can't wait till july 21.but i 'm also dreading it..... imagine jo got RABBIT published that would be real funny...lol jo is such a good author .... harry potter wuz the first chapter book i ever read... it made reading fun 4me... i'm gonna miss it..
I'm thinking this probably relates to the events at Godric's Hollow right at the beginning of the story. She has obviously had what really happened there in her head for so long and now her thoughts will be spilling onto the page at last. My guess she was crying over something good rather than something horrible like a death. The truth about Lily maybe. If you think about it, she's been living with Harry for 17 years, it's interesting that Harry is actually 17 in the book, and now she has to let him go, kind of like losing a child. I guess there IS a chance it's his death in the book she's crying over...
Wow! how sad I always get depressed when I think about the end. i can't imagine how sad it is to finish Harry's last adventure. I think that made it very evident the Harry is going to die!
Harry will not DIE!!!!!! goodness!!! and hehehe ya, I'll be bawling too........... half bc sumone special will die, and bc its the end and ya.... i'll take a pic of wat i look like when i get the book and wen i finish it! lol
she makes me feal like crying but the harry potter fans will never stop loving harry and jo! WHEN I GET THE BOOK I'LL HOLD IT FOR 2 MINIUTS AND CRY :'(
From what I've read, this will most likely be my favorite book in the series. I really can't wait until the book comes out. On MSN, there is an article that debates whether Harry dies or not, and I'm pretty convinced about what will happen. EEEK! I CAN'T WAIT.
woah..all done with the books, im going to miss them soo much,..if she cried that much imagine how us, the fans will feel after reading it! I cant wait for it to come out though, I hope all of this anticipation is worth it. Is anyone re-reading the fifth harry potter book before the movie comes out teusday? Im from America by the way, so its comming out on Teusday I believe.
I am secretly dreading the day I get the book. Sometimes I wish I could just not read the book and savor the mystery, but I know my personal restrain limit could not streach so far :( I am going to BAWL MY LITTLE EYES OUT.
Awl mannn. I don't wanna cry. But I know I will. AHHH I WANT IT NOW!! Lol.
Aw I hope she didn't cry because something really bad happened but just because the series is over. Please let it be that!
Man, I guess I'm really not reading this in my dad's shop. I don't want spoiled (customers are such pains sometimes) and I don't want people watching me cry. I'm not ashamed to cry, but plenty of people won't understand. This doesn't mean Harry or one of the trio is killed though. JK loves lots of other characters too, like Hagrid...which is saddening really, because I love Hagrid.
I'm going to cry so much!! By the way, is that article right? Because it says she finished the book last month. Didn't she finish it January 11th or do they mean the final, final revised book right before they start printing?
Oh no, if she cried, i am probably going to cry too. I can't believe it is the end of the series!
we're sooooooo gonna cry...
