JKR: I 'absolutely howled' when finishing Book 7
JKR: I 'absolutely howled' when finishing Book 7 An interview with JK Rowling is set to appear on the Jonathan Ross show which begins tonight at 10:35 on BBC One. The Telegraph has posted a preview of this interview (which was recorded yesterday), where they quote her as saying:

"Finishing the book is a relief. I can't think of anyone who could know how I felt. Actually finishing it was the most remarkable feeling I've ever had... [I felt] euphoria, devastated, when I finished one chapter near the end I absolutely howled, it had been planned for so long.

"I was in a hotel room on my own, sobbing my heart out. I downed half a bottle of champagne in one and went home with mascara all over my face. It was really tough."

We'll have a video of this interview online shortly after it airs, so stay tuned to MuggleNet tonight!

Posted by fell4snape Jul 6th 2007

I can only imagine what I'm gonna feel while I'm reading the book....or how I'll react....I imagine I'm gonna sob and bawl as well....

Posted by Storm_Alchemist08 Jul 6th 2007

Whaaaaaa! I've been preparing myself for the end of the book, but still. I took two days off of my summer job, the 21st to read and the 22nd to help myself recover from the end of the serise and the deaths of whoever dies (Other than Voldemort. I shall not be sad if he dies.) When I finished HBP, it was right about time for lunch and my dad came in and tried to drag me out of my room, and there I was, tears streaming down my face. I'm sure the same thing is going to happen this time. Except no interuptions since I am now old enough to make my own decisions about when I go to bed. I've already got my box of tissues and am going to buy a big box of chocolate to help me out.

I am going to be bawling everywhere for days.

Posted by potthead7140 Jul 6th 2007

OMG! WHEN I READ THE POST I ALMOST STARTED CRYING. like you know. choked back a sob.. and now im all teary eyed. im going to die when i read it! ohhhhh. she cant kill ron and hermione oh no oh no oh no. im soo scared... ahh... FOUR DAYS TIL OOTP WOOO!

Posted by hpintwense06 Jul 6th 2007

jeeeez! this is going to be such an emotional book. and i can't wait. ;-)

Posted by mugglewishingshewasnt Jul 6th 2007

I first started reading the harry potter series in 4th grade. The 4th harry potter book was the biggest book in the library so i picked it up and said i was gonna read it (this was as a joke to my friends). But after i started reading i couldn't put it down! i finished it (well i put it aside for a couple weeks when i got to the graveyard part but i still read it). After that i was addicted. I read all of the harry potter books within the next 2 months. JO YOU HELPED ME THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES AND GAVE ME A DIFFERENT WORLD TO LIVE IN. I completely trust you and i know that if you choose to kill harry, it will be beautiful and necessary. FOREVER A FAN! :()

G11nyW33zly...I am so with you on that. I am secretly dreading the 7th book's release. I dunno if I can deal with this! HP is such a big part of my life now....darn. If JK started bawling, I KNOW I will. Well, I guess all the shrinks in America will have some good business for awhile. Geez :-(

Posted by britishwannabe Jul 6th 2007

Awww, Poor Jo. If she cried I know that I'll be bawling my eyes out at the midnight release party- even before I get my hands on the book. Depression to the highest degree will follow shortly after I finish the book.

Posted by darkveils5 Jul 6th 2007

Oh, poor Jo! The books have been like her baby! If she cried that hard then there is no doubt that I will cry. I just want to know what I'll be crying about. I mean yesterday I was crying about the OiTP footage where Harry's in the Hog's Head. If I can cry at the movie, for the book I'm gonna be a complete mess.

Posted by laurk723 Jul 6th 2007

Uh oh, I really don't want to sob through most of the book but I'm getting the feeling that I probably will.

Posted by Slytherin15 Jul 6th 2007

OH THIS IS SOOOO KILLING ME TO WAIT THIS MUCH LONGER FOR THE BOOK TO COME OUT. AFTER READING THE BOOK, I THINK IM GONNA CRY. *sigh* THEN ILL READ IT AGAIN.

Posted by weasley228 Jul 6th 2007

wow...this is gonna be one hard pill to swallow. jo's ridiculously good writing style got me into reading, and i can imagine how hard it was for her to be done, just like that. i don't think it necessarily meant that a big character died, because i don't recall this being said about the end of HBP, and that was a BIG character death there. she's tough, i think that just the fact that it was over, is what did her in. i'm sure there are some character deaths, no matter how unrealistic i want to think.

Posted by platinumt Jul 6th 2007

oh noooooooooooooo!! i can't believe myself. how is life without harry potter ????

Posted by Rockstargirl_saraf Jul 6th 2007

OMG I KNOW I'LL BE BAWLING FOR DAYS.......IF THATS JO, WHATS GONNA HAPPEN TO ME, WHO'S PROBABLY ON THE TOP FIVE HARRY POTTER FAN LIST? IM SECRETLY DREADING IT TOO....CURSE ME AND MY ABILITY TO READ FAST. evilbutsexy: ur comment made me laugh (i realize this is an insult to the moment)--yes the shrink i'll be going to will make half of the money he'll ever make thanks to me. at least there's still two more movies and the theme park to look forward to *turns away so as not to stain computer screen with tears*

Posted by HPDH2007 Jul 6th 2007

I believe tough as it is to say that either Hagrid or Ron Weasley maybe Hermione (though I think her death would hurt a little less than Hagrid or Ron's albeit still quite a bit) will die towards the end possibly by destroying the last Horcrux.

Posted by srose2270 Jul 6th 2007

aw, poor j.k. rowling... but i can't blame her. i'll probably cry too, lol.

Posted by polkadots56 Jul 6th 2007

Oh I love her... All these posts about Potter ending... I am starting to howl.

Posted by hpfan20 Jul 6th 2007

well I would howl too. Actually, I know for a fact that I'm going to howl and cry my eyes out when I first have the book in my hands and when I finish it lol.

Posted by HP_reader Jul 6th 2007

omg jo u rule so hard! i'll probably cry for sure!

Posted by emilina Jul 6th 2007

Oh NO!!!!!!! I'm going to cry too!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by weasleyredhead21 Jul 6th 2007

i'm going to be really sad when the series ends but now we'll know everything, its like finishing the puzzle. besides, the day the book comes out is my birthday so if it ends good it'll be a birthday treat!!! :]

Posted by HoJpOj Jul 6th 2007

I'm watching this on BBC1 now :) haha if any younger people are gunna watch the clip on here there should probably be a warning about mature content incase some irate parents get p*ssed off lol, but maybe it wont be on here cause its technically the bit with bob whatshisname, they just pan to Jo in the green room... Jo hasnt been on properly yet, aaah excited!! "w*nkiarmous !" LOL. xxx

Posted by ronlives99 Jul 6th 2007

CRAP! I mean i knew it was going to be bad I knew i was gonna take the end HORIBBLY omgosssshhh i was crying yest just CONTEMPLATING it...im SOOOO frightened!!! Part of me doesnt want to get it Jul 21 but most of me wants to!

Posted by Dobby4ever Jul 6th 2007

I will be so sad! - probably not cry, but I will be very sad! if she cried, does it mean that she killed Harry, and the ceremony for him was so sad, or was it just because she was sad/happy that she was finaly finished?

Posted by bex1110 Jul 6th 2007

OMG. i am sitting here nearly crying!!! i have truely just become terrified of reading this book. harry's been such a big part of my life (7 years) and so i can only imaghine what jk is feeling after 17. i dont know weather i want to read this book as quickly as possible or read it slowly because it will be the last moment. ttheres only one thing to say THANKYOU JO YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by LoonyLovegoodsDaughter Jul 6th 2007

I hope Harry doesn't die at the very end. . . At the end of books 4-6 (well, when ced, padfoot, and dumblebee die) I ALWAYS cry!! We poor fans will cry. . .

Posted by peckofowls Jul 6th 2007

omg! i probably should get a box of tissues, im an emotional wreck. who ever dies, i will probably be sad unless its voldemort. i dont even want the series to end! i cant believe the series almost over!nooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooo...

Posted by snapeward777 Jul 6th 2007

I HAVE A TERRIBLE FEELING THAT THIS IS GUNNA BE A REALLY SAD BOOK.

Posted by Kareen Jul 6th 2007

Oh no... If JK howled then I'm doomed. I was bawling my eyes out when I read the fifth book. I can only imagine how much I'm gonna cry now.

Posted by starslightskies Jul 6th 2007

her description of how she reacted is so intense! it makes me feel sad too. like others have said, i'm sure i'm going to cry because i cried when dumbledore died [haha that rhymed], and the end of the last book will probably be even more sad than that. and what she said about scar not being the last word anymore is kind of interesting!

Posted by crookshanks_J Jul 6th 2007

awwwww poor jo...atleast you no longer have the pressure of writing. im practicly crying right now i feel so bad 4 her. and the fans...harry potter over just like that only the movies now...BYE HP FANS

Posted by Amanita_Muscaria Jul 7th 2007

Oh goodness me. Poor Jo. ]= I'm going to be a wreck. I really want to slow down this time! I read the 6th book too fast, which made me even more upset. I hope she doesn't kill Harry! It's too predictable! I mean, Hary and Voldie dying would be what most would expect, so I hope she throws something in non of us could have dreamed of, really. Anyway, 4 days till OOTP! =D This July really is a potter over load. xD Anyway, everyone get you're HP mode on! =) Were in for a wild one.

Brilliant, Snape; once again you've put your keen and penetrating mind to the task and as usual come to the wrong conclusion.
