Interview with composer Nicholas Hooper
A new audio interview with the Order of the Phoenix soundtrack composer Nicholas Hooper was conducted by ScoreNotes.com. Hooper admits himself that he is a fan of the books and is "completely hooked" and that it brought his wife and him together. He talks about how he felt about being involved with the films after two other composers and how he felt about picking up the series in the fifth movie:"It could have been difficult, but because of David's [Yates] help and the fact that he so much knew what the kind of music he'd want, that made a huge difference. Following John Williams is always a bit forbidding really, because he is such a great composer, but at least I had his theme to work with which I enjoyed doing too and I think just working from the base, working with David so well, and the fact that I knew the books so well, I had a lot going for it really."
The soundtrack will be released July 10th in the US.

i hope he is good because i love the soundtracks and hes pretty obscure. they went from the most famous cinematic composer of all time to people we've never heard of.

I think it will be a nice change of pace from the Williams scores, but I'm sure he'll still borrow Hedwig's theme. Let's hope so anyway.

From what I've heard from the soundtrack so far, it sounds as though he's done a really great job. And he's right- following on from John Williams IS a tough task. And although the HP soundtrack is very awesome, nothing, EVER, can surpass the LOTR soundtrack. Thumbs up, Howard Shore.

Ok i already pre-ordered the Ootp special edition soundtrack and it has shipped on (guess...!) yes... on the magicalday... 07/07/07... and i CANNOT wait for its arrival. I heard the music samplers from soundtrack.net or sumthing and it looks like my favorite composition is definately gonna be the Umbridge Theme Song, even though i hate that pink lovin freak!!!! And its probably gonna wreck my earphones since im gonna be listening 2 it ALL SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! Well, the soundtrack previews weren't as impressive as the first three
the previews sound really good.......and the sound IS new.........hope the score fits well in the movie........waiting....

wow that's really cool! I've liked all the composers from all the movies and this one looks perfect! Im so happy he's a fan I love when the people involved with the films are fans :D I wish I could be involved *sigh* but I just watch them... oh well....THIS IS OUR LAST WEEKEND WITHOUT OOTP MOVIE!
Does anyone know when the Special Edition of the soundtrack is supposed to be released? Nobody (Amazon, Barnes, Best Buy) seems to have any info about it!
Cool! He's a Harry Potter fan too! I think the soundtracks are great, but I doubt that I will buy them.. I know that I won't listen to them that much. :D
I still think that if they're not going to hire Danny Elfman, they should just stick with John Williams. He was a GENIUS! Nicholas Hooper is great, but the music still just doesn't compare. Why can't *I* just direct these movies? psh.

hi all!! been on vaca in north carolina. boy is it hot here. i've watched SS, fell asleep on COS, *sorry*, watched POA and then found the A&E special that was on at 10 pm last night. i'll have plenty of time to go to the store, when i get home on tues 7-10, to go get the soundtrack. i sooooooo can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sirius-ly (pun intended) considering going to the midnight show tomorrow. hope i don't fall asleep there!!!!! i need other hp fans around!!!!!! we are down to hours folks.......HOURS NOW!!!!!!!
hey, let's keep our fingers crossed that john williams comes back to do HBP and DH. we CAN hope, can't we????? i miss him too....:-(
