Possibility of 'Deathly Hallows' being sold early
It has emerged that some book stores in the UK are not required to keep a written agreement preventing them from selling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before its release next Friday."It's quite possible one will break the embargo," says Katherine Rushton from The Bookseller magazine. "They'd do it to be first, and for all the PR."
Bloomsbury replied saying that there is "no reason to believe anyone would want to ruin the excitement. If such a thing were to happen, we believe that the public would make their feelings known by not buying it from such a spoilsport retailer. [However] it is our intention to vigorously enforce the embargo if required."

no way!
oh snap! that is not cool!
nooooo! definitely not fair.
O RLY?
That would be wrong and I for one would not buy it. I'm already quite anxious about the series ending, I've grown up with Harry Potter and I've been waiting for this book for 6 years. I think I can wait a bit longer instead of going against what JKR wants and when she wants the book to be released.
if i get even the slightest inkling of a plot before i get the book, someone will pay with their life
nooo that would ruin it!!!!
wow! i am sure that they will stay with the pack and not sell it until next saturday. They should know that they will be ruining the fun if they sold it early. hmmmm. Yay HP!
I just got charged from Amazon for my preorder of HP7, and it says shipping soon... but the estimated delivery date is 21st??? It'll be extremely awesome to get it early!!!! Jess
nnoooooooooooooooo! that would be so unfair! think of all the spoilers!
WHAT?! NO WAY!!!! THEY CAN'T... We'd all have to go into hiding. WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE ANSWERS!!!
why aren't all the stores required to keep the books in the boxes before the release date? that would completely stink!
thats the most retarded thing ever, if they do end up selling them early i hope people dont buy it, out of protest against their unfairness. but then again i know that many people are going to jump at the chance to have the book early. mehh retarrded.
that's ridiculous!!
would anyone buy the book early? I wouldnt. We should make a pact as Harry Potter fans not to buy the book early and to spoil it for the rest, and totally boycott/attack any bookstore that tries to do that
dizzy2381 dont forget that the book is released on the 21st. that doesnt sound early to me (cos i live in GMT) im sure youll get it when everyone else does
Top 20? That would be completely unfair! I might just have to become a hermit for the next week...
I know that if it was here in the states someone would sell it early, just for the publicity, and there are people out there who don't care about how special it is for everyone to get it at the same time, they will want to be able to say that they knows what happens before everyone else. If it does happen I hope that everyone boycotts those stores, and those who have such low self esteem and have to buy it early to feel special keep their mouths shut. It would be awesome if all of us got it early, but not if a special few did. I bet Bloomsbury is having kittens (I keep saying that phrase since I reread GOF the other day-I can't believe I did not catch it the first 100 times I read the book)
NO WAY!!!!!! if i were near one of tose stores i ouldnt buy it, well actually, i would TRY not to buy it , but i probably would end up doing so anyway.
It's wrong...I would probably buy it though. Sorry if that sounds bad. I think mosto f you would tobe honest.
No! You know what this means! SPOILERS ON THE WEB! Nuuu! Some mean fan will post what happens in the book. And if I find out what happens before I finish the book ... first of all, that person is as good as dead and second of all, I'D BE DEPRESSED FOREVER! I was crying when my brother spoiler HBP for me!
Not cool! If that gets out I will lock myself in my room for the next week: no one can spoil the last book for me!
I don't like spoilers. I never do that.
While every Harry fan is ready for this book, I know many of us have been dreaming about it, we've also been having nightmares of people ruining the endings for us. Just standing in line at the bookstore will be dangerous enough, so anyone who would chose to put the book on shelves will find themselves the object of hatered for a lot of dis-satisifed fans. No real Harry Potter fan would spoil it for others. It's the ones who think we're all a bit nuts or in Harry's words "touched in the head" (ootp), who will want to spoil it, just to get a rise out of the Harry fans. I've given someone a black eye for spoiling OotP for a lot of people who hadn't finished the book. I can promise I wouldn't be afraid of doing worse to anyone who would ruin the last one for us all. Anyone who even THINKS about spoiling it for the rest of us is as bad as Lord Voldermort himself, and deserves to be fed to the dementors. Harry Potter fans should unite to protect each other for such spoilers.
NO! thats not fair, i will do whatever it takes so i dont see any spoilers. I've been waiting/dreading this book for over a year now. And i dont want ANYONE to ruin for me or anyone else. ~***if you do happen to read it early... DONT PUT UP SPOILERS***~
What?!?!?! :O *Gawps* That is totally unfair. I doubt Borders will be doing that since they've advertised it for the 21st, but if a store did sell them early around where I live I'd totally not buy it. It'd ruin the entire experience, especially since this is the LAST *sob* book. :( Meanies. I bet SOMEONE will buy it and spoil it real quickly. If that does happen, they're not TRUE Harry Potter fans at all. Curse them for the rest of their lives. I really hope a newspaper finds out, buys the book and then spoils it. That'd be plain cruel. Actually, if a tabloid did do that, I think we should organise a protest and all of us Harry Potter fans (thousands, lol) should camp out their building with fire torches.
i guess im sort of glad im going on holiday tomorrow and wont have contact with the world and nasty spoilers until the day i get the book
Oopps! I mean, "I really hope a newspaper doesn't find out and buys the book, spoiling it for everyone else." Sorry, loud music makes my concentration LOW.
snapeishawt i would join your protest
I think if you want to avoid spoilers from now on, you should: * not use the net * not read any newspapers * not turn on your TV or radio And still! I remember queueing at midnight for HBP and there were people driving up and down yelling at the queue " dies!"
I had HBP ruined for me and it totally robbed me off the fun and excitement that I'm sure I'd have if my friends didn't tell me the ending. I don't want DH, the LAST HP book, to be spoilt for me too! I've been waiting (and counting down) for too long a time to want to be ruined.. It'd kill me! ):
this probably sounds stupid to you guys but i think the moderators and people working at Mugglenet should shut down the site for a day or so. This is the perfect place for someone to write a spoiler. I dont think they would do that considering how many hits they've been getting lately. on the matter of selling the book early, that sucks. why would you ruin it for everyone else. and ya i agree with in america, people wouldnt care they'd only do it for plublicity. I cant say i wouldnt be one of the people to buy a book early, and if i did, i wouldnt tell anyone what happens untill everyone else had a book. its just not right.
I am not ashamed to say that I would buy it earlier if I could. I would just keep everything to myself, just like I will after the 21st, so as not to ruin it for anybody who has yet to read it. I'm positive that I will have no such luck though. I'm also sure that just like last time, somebody will read it early AND THEN POST SPOILERS on the web. Unfortunately, this is inevitable. The only way to remain completely spoiler-free is to boycott the internet until after you read the book.
if you're a real harry potter fan, you wouldn't want to spoil the surprise yourself or for other harry potter fans. jkrowling worked extremely hard on this entire series, and it would ruin it for EVERYONE if the last book was yours before anybody else got theirs.
I would not buy an early copy. Why the hell would you want to ruin it for people?
naaa i would never buy it early! that would ruin the excitement!
Isn't it a bit naive to think that people wouldn't buy it? I mean it's all very well to say that now, 'specially if you're a hardcore fan but when there are pre-release books sitting there, people ARE going to buy them early.
Snapeishawt i will also join your protest. its not fair if they sell the books early everyne should get it at the same time. no one better put up spoilers or there will be heck to pay. im so excited for this book and do not want it ruined. i have visions that someone will get it early, read it and then put up spoilers. If someone did pre order it they would still get it at the same time as us wouldnt they? Cuz if they didnt and got it early they could spoil it. NO SPOILERS PLEASE!! Beaker22 i know what you mean. it would be the same in canada. they would spoil it just for publicity. those type of people dont care about anyone but themselves and must have a really low self esteem to spoil something for so many people. if i find out the book comes out early im going to have to go into hiding.
NOOOOO what kind of valony head woulf f*%$&$g do that?? i'v like grown with harry!
ahhhhhhh if a copy gets out i am seriously locking myself in my room until the 21st! i dont want to read spoilers :-(
on friday night saturday morning make sure you dont give anyone the chance to tell you what happens. im debating whether to even get the book my self or send someone else to get it. and definately dont glance at the front cover of "the sun" on saturday morning
I've just ordered the book and Audio book from Amazon and the audio book dispatch date is listed as 19th July with delivery estimate 20th -21st. I'd be happy with that as I leave on holiday first thing on the 21st and getting a copy before I go will be tricky. I'm just hoping Amazon deliver early in the morning! My nightmare is getting on the ferry and some little runt shouting out what happens - once I reach France I'm secluded from everything for two weeks so I'll be safe...
I would never buy it early. I don't think many others would either, not if they are fans of the book, people who aren't might though to try and ruin it for everyone else.
I'm not sure how reading a copy of the book early would ruin things, since I'm reading by myself anyway. How could I ruin it for anybody else if I'm not telling everybody else before they read it? Sure, it would not be fair, but that's just an envy thing (justified I might add). I believe a person in Indianapolis got a hold of HBP early when it came out. He was kind enough not to share details (if my memory serves me right). If he didn't get the book, somebody else would have, who might have exploited the opportunity. Ultimately, responsibility lies with the bookseller rather than the person who legitimately buys the book.
I have to agree with Scarface. If I could get my hands on the book early, I would do it, but I would NEVER spoil it for someone unless the asked me too (Ace). That would just be cruel. I don't want to be one of those people who "just wants to get it first", I just want to know what happens...
Well, that was stupid of Bloomsbury! Well, I want that book anyways. And you won't find spoilers if you don't look for them.
You will, however, see spoilers everywhere anyway. Think of all the people that would want to ruin all of your fun! You couldn't turn on your computer without finding out whether or not Harry lives.
It's official....I'm going into shutdown mode. No tv or internet for the rest of the time left before the book is OFFICIALLY out on the 21st. I don't wanna see something about it before hand!
harry will die in DH
I dont want my book been spoiled.. i dont live in a english-speaking country and ill wait about 5 days to book be delivered here! Meanwhile, ill be locked at my bedroom, away from every news, mainly HP's news!
