Possibility of 'Deathly Hallows' being sold early
Possibility of 'Deathly Hallows' being sold early It has emerged that some book stores in the UK are not required to keep a written agreement preventing them from selling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before its release next Friday.

"It's quite possible one will break the embargo," says Katherine Rushton from The Bookseller magazine. "They'd do it to be first, and for all the PR."

Bloomsbury replied saying that there is "no reason to believe anyone would want to ruin the excitement. If such a thing were to happen, we believe that the public would make their feelings known by not buying it from such a spoilsport retailer. [However] it is our intention to vigorously enforce the embargo if required."

THat would be completely unfair. It's like breaking an unwritten rule.

Posted by penguinism Jul 13th 2007

I would buy it early. Why not. It means that I get to read it as soon as possible. It in no way means that I am not a HP supporter, or that I will ruin it for people. But I mean if you really wanted it to be fair the books should be released simultaineously. Not at 12:01am in each time zone. Thats is geographic discrimination.

Posted by christianaeg Jul 13th 2007

Yay! hpdies is gone! anyhoo i wouldn't get it early if you paid me.....

Posted by Dizzy2381 Jul 13th 2007

LIARS, the lot of you.... You know if you had to opportunity to read the book now, you would. That doesn't necessarily mean your going to spoil it for everyone just because you read it first! You all know you can't wait 'til next week. I am all for me getting my book NOW!

Posted by Expecto_Patronum_Girl Jul 13th 2007

That is really not cool. I wouldn't buy it from them, even if it was the last bookstore in the world!

Posted by darklordangel Jul 13th 2007

No Way!! This will ruin it all!! Jo should stop this

Posted by sirius_lee Jul 13th 2007

Posted by sticky Jul 13th 2007

i think that they shouldn't allow for it to be released earlier in certain parts, even if it is only by a day. I am glad to be back on here right now, i was on MNI, i joined and i found it confusing and scary. LOL. I prefer COS forum the official one..that has closed down....*cries* i am adicted to that forum......

Posted by Spirit Jul 13th 2007

Booo. Not good.

Posted by i_loverz_HP Jul 13th 2007

Posted by lotte26 Jul 13th 2007

WOW thats soooo not fair!!!!!! SHUT THEM DOWN! lol thought if i had the opportunity i would buy it so my friends wouldn't read it b4 me!!!! lol

Posted by AnyaMarcos Jul 13th 2007

I'm going to be off the site now until after the book is released. I just don't want to take any chances of spoilers.

Posted by Startori Jul 13th 2007

I fully intend to avoid this website the minute the book is out.

Posted by maki Jul 13th 2007

OMG!! plz someone do something!!!!!!!!!! that is sooo NOT COOL! stupid people!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone just told me today a VERY MAIN spoiler of DH and I don't know if it's true...! anyways I wont believe it! I wont believe ANYTHING until I read the book myself.... I will shut myself away from the world the 21st and then wait until my book arrives and read it....until then, then... has anyone heard anything about that particular spoiler?? anyone knows if it's true?

Posted by jean13 Jul 13th 2007

I heard something on the radio yesterday. It said they were giving away a copy of DH before you could buy it..... hmm

Posted by hplover1994 Jul 13th 2007

I SWEAR IF ANYONE DID THAT I WOULD TRACK THEM DOWN!!! so hopefully no one will ^_^

Posted by rggr9728 Jul 13th 2007

that is really stupid they better not release it early

Posted by bringmethehorizon Jul 13th 2007

Even if you don't go on the internet or watch tv or anyting there is still a chance for you to have it ruined because when your in line to get your book what if someone has seen those spoilers? They would probably yell it out or something.. OMG! now Im pissed.

Posted by Dobby4ever Jul 13th 2007

I really, really don't hope that anyone would actually do that! I wouldn't buy it earlier if I could! I jsut saw OotP in the cinema today - it was awesome - but the last few days I refused to watch any trailers which might spoil some of the movie for me, and I have the same opinion about the book!

Posted by Slytherin15 Jul 13th 2007

OMG NO! i dont want that to happen. i dont want it to be spoiled. i just started reading eragon and i cannot read the seventh book until i finish eragon! NO YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME!!! my parents said i cant read the seventh book until i finish reading eragon!! ugh! parents!! *sigh/cries in agony*

Posted by grednforge Jul 13th 2007

oh goodness!!! no bookstore would DARE try to release a book early or else they'd face the wrath of every rabid harry potter fan. I personally would not even understand why anyone would bother buying it before the release date... I would want to spend these last few days waiting and then go off to the midnight release with everyone else and therefore get the full effect of the magical release. I'm soooo excited!! But I'm willing to wait!!

Posted by hermoninny56 Jul 13th 2007

That really isnt fair. i dont think. i mean all the rest of the bookstores have to wait. and anyway we have to wait to. it kind of sucks

Posted by algonquinn Jul 13th 2007

I, for one, while am excited and cant wait for the 7th book, Im also dreading it. Because as many of you have said: Harry Potter has been a big part of my life for so very long. I feel like I have grown up with him. And for it to be finally over? Idk what im going to do with myself. So if I even had the chance of getting it early...I wouldnt. Ive waited to long for it and dont want the ending spoiled as well; so in the days before the big release I most likely wont be checking any Harry Potter sites just in case of spoilers. I will wait until 12:01 on July 21st, get my HPDH book, read and mourn. I still have hope though that she will contine Harry's story in one way or another....though I dont know how realistic that hope is.....

Posted by HermioneIsMyHero27 Jul 13th 2007

This is absolutely ridiculous! If they release it early in some places, I will have to completely avoid the internet and any other sources that may possibly give away parts of the book. I cannot begin to explain how angry I would be if someone gave away the ending before the rest of us got a hold of the book.

Posted by Monnieguy Jul 13th 2007

The story is true. But it is not being sold. There are free copies of it being delivered via email. I know, I have just read it.

Posted by parker2689 Jul 13th 2007

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OO!

Posted by Monnieguy Jul 13th 2007

Don't worry. I would NEVER give away a single thing about the book and ruin it for ANYONE.

Posted by peckofowls Jul 13th 2007

Really? I wouldn't mind if the book's sold early... do you think that could happen in US?

Posted by Monnieguy Jul 13th 2007

Yes peckofowls, Unfortunatly it can and will if you don't take care in what you read of hear. You have no idea the type of people who live in this world. Cruel.

Posted by bookbug1012 Jul 13th 2007

I'm very nervous about spoilers. I'm usually quite impaitient (sp?) but with DH I need to savor it. I mean of course I'll read it the first day but i don't even want to really read the chapter titles. The temptation of reading the last chapter will be amazing but i must resist!

Posted by Quirrell_is_a_squirrel Jul 13th 2007

i agree with potterbunny. bring on the boycotting! and also with asleep_@_the_moment.

Posted by PaintedBlack Jul 13th 2007

I would absolutely never buy an early book from them! That is so selfish and sneaky!

Posted by shauryakmr Jul 13th 2007

that is so not cool, now such ass will release it early and all the information will be leaked out to the whole world and everybody will be in ruins. The whole world will wage a war on UK, if this happens. God it's scary! brrr

Posted by potterfan226 Jul 13th 2007

wtf that's so retarted. I'd so not buy if if I saw it just sitting on the shelves. As much as I'd want to peek at it, I'd rather wait, thank you!!!!

Posted by Yoshi Jul 13th 2007

Why would people want to spoil the book for everyone else. If it's just to get a laugh out of it then they can go, as said on Family Guy, "fornicate themselves with a steel rod"

Posted by RageTreb Jul 13th 2007

Of course there's a reason to spoil the book. These people obviously haven't met some of the people I have.

Posted by mistyrain81 Jul 13th 2007

At the midnight showing of OOTP, I was talking to some people who work at a local Wal-Mart here in the U.S...and they said that Wal-Mart hadn't signed any such agreement either. In fact, I was pretty pissed when I found out that they would be getting the book "in a few days"...that would mean that they get the book over a week early!!! With no penalties - Wal-Mart has nothing to lose from Scholastic not distributing to them ever again, nor from them being sued - talk about an all powerful monopoly...total BS.

Posted by DeathEater96 Jul 14th 2007

Posted by SnapeIsHawt 15 hours ago What?!?!?! :O *Gawps* That is totally unfair. I doubt Borders will be doing that since they've advertised it for the 21st, but if a store did sell them early around where I live I'd totally not buy it. It'd ruin the entire experience, especially since this is the LAST *sob* book. :( Meanies. I bet SOMEONE will buy it and spoil it real quickly. If that does happen, they're not TRUE Harry Potter fans at all. Curse them for the rest of their lives. I really hope a newspaper finds out, buys the book and then spoils it. That'd be plain cruel. Actually, if a tabloid did do that, I think we should organise a protest and all of us Harry Potter fans (thousands, lol) should camp out their building with fire torches. ILL BRING THE ANGRY VILLAGERS!!!!!!!!!!!! AND FIRE BREATHERS!!!!!!!!

Posted by Crazycizarlos014 Jul 14th 2007

NO FRICKIN WAY!! THEY CANNOT DO THAT, I KNOW THIS IS WHAT EVERYBODY IS SAYING BUT IF THIS BOOK GETS SPOILED FOR ME SOMEBODY IS GOING DOWN. EVERY BOOK 1-6 HAS BEEN RUINED FOR ME.. AND THIS IS NO EXAGGERATION! l;aksdjfakl;sasdfljklasfj aslkfa. THIS CAN'T HAPPEN!

Posted by hallowsaint Jul 14th 2007

I'm not worried about spoilers on the internet I'm worried about it getting out in the media and then i won't be able to read the paper, magazines or talk to my friends or watch tv until i have the book in my hands and have read it.

Posted by me_potter_fan Jul 14th 2007

nooo i acidentily got spoiled i hope it was fake

Posted by Mike22 Jul 14th 2007

The places that do sell it early will probably put huge prices on the books as people would be that desperate to read it. Also, this is just asking for spoilers, I mean you get people going to the midnight release, buy the book, turn to the back and spoil it for everyone else in the queue. this is just making their job even easier >:-(

Posted by potter_rox_2409 Jul 14th 2007

NO!!!! that is so unfair. i will lock myself in my bedroom with no computer and no TV to prevent myself from finding anything out!!! i will only come out when the book is ACTUALLY released. but didnt some people read HBP before the official release date?

Posted by sirius_rox Jul 14th 2007

That would be good!

Posted by sticky Jul 14th 2007

i have decided, i am NOT going out, watching tv coming on here anymoe incase of spoilers. i can't take any chances. and i am going to wear earplugs at the relese until i get it to make sure i don't hear anything shouted out,a nd if i do i will personally kill then and shove my wand where the sun never shines. they will not be forgiven.
