MyChristM3- If she wanted to write a series of novels about Teddy Lupin, it would be much more interesting to the plot if he was an orphan, lol. What do you think, Teddy Lupin and the Sorcerers Stone? A best-seller?
btownhockey44: Not really. Just like Harry, after learning the truth and imperfections of Dumbledore, managed to forgive him, I think he also realized the great sacrifices Snape had made and the true bravery inside of Severus to have also forgived him. Two men who were on the opposite sides of his spectrum of feelings: He hated Snape, and Near-Revered Dumbledore. When he learned that both were human, imperfect, but at the same time incredibly brave and Good (in some ways), he forgave both. HogwartsGirl14: Am I the only one who had partly assumed that the answer was already given a long time ago? Because I always took N-H-Nick's answer as truth: When one dies, they can decide to go on, or leave an imprint of themselves so that they can never be separated from Earth and Life. Remember, Dumbledore told Harry that he didn't have to come back; They could take the train and 'go on'. However, the situation IS different, because Harry was still tied to the Earth so that he could come back ALIVe, and not as ghost, because OF his blood and the Protection of his mother was being kept alive by Voldemort.
josi- that makes no sense.. you seriously are obsurd. you should just stop right now, cause you sound like a complete ass. I'm not even going to fight, eventhough I would love to. the plot was made from the very beginning.
Josi, you sick, sick person. How can you possibly insult the person who brought HARRY POTTER into our lives?! If you have an ounce of dignity left you should get off this site, if that is how you really feel.
actually it was not through the eyes josi, it was, ir you reread, a silver memory sticking up through snapes head, jsut before he died, that he passed along to harry in the bottle... and then harry went into dumbledore's/snapes/macgo nacles(sp?) office and used the pensieve to "dive into" the memories. reread the chapter please, its all very simply laid out.
Hold up.... To those of you saying the US cover depicts the scene in the Great Hall, I say it can't be. Why? For the mere fact that Harry is depicted as wandless. He CLEARLY has his own wand in his hand in the story, reaches up and gets the Elder Wand, giving him TWO wands....The cover is NOT the Great Hall. Secondly, Snape has ALWAYS loved Harry...Despised him because he looked like James, but Loved him because he was Lily's son through and through, (remember the references by other teachers that he reminded them of his mother from what he DID?) Besides, Severus admitted to Dumbledore (in his memory that Snape gave to Harry) that he had ALWAYS loved Harry....
People really stoop down to the ultimate low. I can understand if you don't like the book, but come up with reasonable reasons. I'm sure there is a lot to not like about the book, but show respect. She had a baby while writing this book, she could have given us 4 years to wait, not only 2. So before you bash anything, think that we maybe wouldn't have read the book yet. And once again, don't come up with stupid excuses, like she didn't want to write the books after hp4. Thats so stupid.
why dont you get off your high horse, the last three books sucked! you can see she was not happy with them, the fans could not wait for them to be released and maybe she was having a harder time of writing then she let on.. she was rushed, i can see it in the writing.. she gave us what most of you fans wanted. not all of us wanted to see death and distruction. some of us like to beleave there is good in the world! I FEEL SHE RUHED THE BOOKS SHE HAD TO MUCH PRESURE FROM THE FANS TO GET IT DONE WHEN WE SHOULD HAVE LEFT HER TO HER WORK!! WE BURNED HER OUT
I liked dh, but the only problem was that the pace was alot difference, s oit probably threw alot of people off. Also, Nagini was under Voldys command, so technically Voldy did defeat snape.
Josi- Your comment is to full of idiocy to even make a comment or argument with you. I'm completely stunned that anyone who has a membership to a Harry Potter fan site would say something like that.
I really enjoyed the book. Some of JO's best writing. Only one thing, more characters should have been mentioned at the end, and more detail. Like what are their professions and like a "where are they now?" type sorda deal.
Josi your stupid. She loved all of them and she even said 7 was her favorite. Yiour an ignorant person. But in lighter new..Im so sad its all over now isnt it
Yes it is the great hall on the cover, it is no different from the fact that on Half Blood Prince Dumbledore's hand is not black and shriveled. And Snape did not admit that he loved Harry he was admitting he loved Lily still and always.
I agree with xxwhosxthatxgirlxx. I don't think the story has to be "over." Think of all the ways it could go on. A back story on Harry's parents' generation? A new set of challenges posed to the children of the survivors of the current series? There are lots of possibilities.
that is a good point, bohemian_moon. regardless, i would still think that harry would've named his kids after people that didnt treat him like scum every chance they got but were still extremely influential, like remus, sirius, maybe even dobby lol. but i am clearing this up once and for all, because lots of people have assumed that i meant something that i didnt say. i NEVER said, and never will say, that it was unnecessary for snape to die. it was extremely necessary for snape to die, so that harry could get the memories. i just dont think it was necessary for him to die the way he did, for no reason at all, no sacrifice, not as a result of being exposed as a double agent, or any reasonable way.
Hannah_at_Hogwarts - If the cover scene was not the one at Hogwarts, then where was it? (I'm not challenging you, merely asking your opinion.) And I agree with you about Snape; I think he was always resentful of Harry, but deep down he always cared for him, even if it was very deep down. Josi - How can you POSSIBLY argue that she was rushed after book 4?! We had the longest wait between book 4 and 5, and book 5 was the longest of them all! People have even said that parts of book 5 were dragged out and unnecessary! (Though I am not one of them.) Those are not the marks of a "rushed" book. And now you blame us for you're displeasure? You are disgusting.
well i have found that most harry potter fnas think this book is amazing...for proof, look at the poll at the right top of the page, barely any people hate it. it has gone down very well, jo should be proud
I was not under the impression that Harry 'died' at any point. He specifically asked Dumbledore if he were dead and Dumbledore said 'no'. He just passed out for a while when Voldemort's bit of soul died = it had almost become part of his being - only his goodness of heart prevented that bit of Voldemort's soul from corrupting Harry. Since he had never allowed it to take him over, it was possible for it to die and not take Harry with it. Harry was given the chance to die with Voldemort's soul but he never actually died - at least that's my take on it. I'd love to see Dan act this one out.
I think Jo will always write, But My hope is that we leave her to her family and life and she will be able to create a another great book like gof
Making a series of the Trio's kids would be really stupid. Why would you want to ruin HP. I'm not being harsh, well maybe i am, but why not leave Harry as he is? I remember reading a fanfic about a show, with the main characters kids in it.. and i'm sorry to say, it was ridiculous.
Huh, I interpreted it as Snape saying he loved Harry...I'll have to re-read that one. (Note to the posters who scream their opions at us of the cordial interaction that just took place between jkmoneky and myself, TAKE NOTE!)All I can do is shake my head and wonder why Josi believes what she/he does.
what was Dudelys wrost memeory? was it in the book?
so was that wierd baby thing at the train after harry passed out the peice of voldermorts soul in harry
You know what eles would be awesome and proubly sell a whole lot... maybe a book that says WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE SERIES! OR maybe a book that says what happened in the 19 years before the epoiloge takes place i would love to know when harry and ginny got married or even Ron and hermione i would buylike 5 copies so it could raise money for the darfur crisis wouldnt you guys too?
not a he shhh for brains
AcidPops33: I greatly appreciate your disclaimer, as it is quite volitile in here (not saying that I am, just that I appreciate knowing you aren't!) I haven't a clue what it could be. I suppose I am stuck on the fact that Harry is depicted as wandless, but in the Great Hall, he had Draco's wand prior to catching the Elder Wand. I just didn't think that GrandPre would make a mistake like that....Maybe I shouldn't be so literal? And MyCHristM3, I believe that the baby thing was Voldemorts soul that was in Harry, yes.
as to the epilogue_________maybe there will be an E! special..where are they now? ____ lol
Hannah, I too will go back and check again, but I am pretty sure it refers more to Lily. And my reasoning for thinking it's the great hall scene is that #1 the color of the sky which Harry noted at the time. I don't remember any other time in the story where they were together in the light of daybreak or dusk. And I actually didn't recognize it at first until I complained about it to the hubby then it just kinda hit me with the color of the sky and the ceiling enchanted to look like the same sky they see through the windows. By the way thanks for poining out how well we handle our differnce in opinion, I think people get a bit too wrapped up in what they think is right and how things shoud be without stepping back once in awhile to see the big picture or take things from someone elses point of view.
That is alot of books sold in a day, and it also shows you the devoted fans. I will keep mine and when I grow older will keep them on my bookase for my children and grandchildren to read. Now I can't wait until Jo comes out with a new series.
I have a question. How does Harry defeat Voldemort with Malfoy's wand? Did he put a shield between him and Voldemort and that is what made the spell rebound?
Huh, thanks for the compliment Josi (please note sarcasm) In my defense, there is no attack in my post to or toward you, yet you attack me. It IS possible for a male to choose a female moniker just as it is possible for a female to choose a male one. As evident of all of your posts, who has the Shhh for brains?
The book ROCKED!!! and yay!!!! that's a lot of books! omg i loved it!!!! YAY!
Hello everyone, especially Hannah... I just wanted to say that I think some things were cut from the book that we were promised. Like what Dudley saw when the Dementors were near him... Go to the book 7 section and then confirmed infomation. Not all of what was promised was there! weird.... Though i still loved the book don't get me wrong.
wotchermuggle: Harry Defeats Voldemort because the wand that Voldemort was holding, The Elder wand, did not belong to Voldemort; It had already sworn it's allegiance to Harry. Therefore, It would not attack it's master (or Harry) which is why it rebounded the killing kcurse on it's user (Voldemort). As to why the wand belonged to Harry, I have a whole other post on that, if you wish ^^
Is anyone else crying becuase this is the end of it all?
Hopefully she will put out the encyclopedia she has talked about. She has zillions of notes, drawings, characters that never made it into the books, alternate plot lines, etc. It would be really fascinating to see those things. I don't think it will sell like the books do, but all of us would have to have it. She obviously doesn't even like Harry Potter. She would probably put that book out for charity like she did with the Fantastic Beasts and Quidditch Through The Ages. Now, Josi - what on earth is your problem or do you just like to stir everybody up? The last three books were easily my favorites. OOTP was my favorite until this weekend. I will have to see how this book holds up to repeat reading/listening though. It was so painful the first time. If you are simply here to psst people off, we don't need you. I have no problem with confilcting opinions and like a good debate, but you come here spewing nonsense. You remind me of Ann Coulter. Stop hate-mongering, it's stupid and childish.
I guess what upsets me, is that in the end they kill Snape, but when they gather the bodies he is no were to be found. I remember when OOTP came out I was living on base in Fl I went to the late night opening for the OOTP and on the way the roads were closed because of a bank robery and the 2 robers bodies were on the road coved with a sheet. I guess becuse I have a face to him it was dificult to see in my minds eye him laying somewere in the school and no one to mourn him. In the end he was a great man and he died a stupid death
Hannah_at_Hogwarts - I do see you're point about the wand; it does seem like a pivotal thing to leave out. However, someone mentioned before that on the Half-Blood-Prince cover she didn't depict Dumbledore's hand as injured, which in my opinion extremely important to the plot. I don't think you're being too literal; it was a mistake of the artists, if it is the Hogwarts scene. If it is not, however, I can't imagine what it would be.
i must say i loved Deathly Hallows. The ending is what we all really wanted in the end. So many people are feeling lost because this is it, there are no more harry potter books to look forward to. I sit around pouting because i do not know what to think. Im sad and happy at the same time but i dont know what to do with myself. haha everyone should read the harry potter series it will change you! =]
DH was DEFINITELY the BEST book I EVER read in my 18 years of existance. IT WAS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG!!!!
Hey Christianaeg! I agree, there are still so many questions that were said will be answered. ALthough I don't hold that against Jo, I am blissfully believing that there will be another book (for charity) that will tell us what happened to the rest of the Weasleys, to Luna and her Father, McGonagall (is she still teaching or is she now Head Mistress?) AND if Harry and Dudley are conversing with each other by Owl? Wouldn't that get Uncle Vernon's goat, Dudley conversing with Harry by a bloody Owl! :) Jkmonkey, thank you. Josi got the better of me by attacking me, and after I posted it, I read what you said to me...thanks for bringing me back to the lighter side!
It was definately my favourite of all the HP's. It just sucks that I read really quickly and it's all over for me now :( I'm on my 3rd re-read, but nothing will ever touch the first time I read 'Deathly Hallows', I've never been that affected by a book, it was insane. When I took a (very quick) break to get a drink or whatever, I found myself actually shaking. It made me cry an awful lot, but I thought it was brilliant and better written than the others. Deservedly a huge seller.
if I got the better of you, I will give it back becuse you dont have much to give
Dissident: i know what you mean. i feel like i read the last book to quickly. but i wouldnt want to still be reading the book now because i wanted to know the ending. I also never thought that a series of books could affect me this much. Ive tried reading other books but it is just to hard to think that there is no more harry potter. I cry because im so sad. i think alot of people feel the same way which kind of cheers me up to know that i am not the only person to feel like this.
Josi: And if you took the better of her, it's because you never had anything to begin with.
Who done magic later in life?? I dont remember that question being answered??
back handed strikes? C O W A R D. It was never yours to give back anyway Josi, I TOOK it from you. You have absolutely nothing to give for, or to. If you think I have nothing to give, you underestimate me and your position, your understanding capability is miniscule in this matter making you an insignificant speck of human flesh.
Josi - I see where you are coming from. In his defense, Snape did not die a stupid death. He died a hero, protecting Harry and continuing Dumbledore's request. He did not die in vain, and at least now he is at peace, finally. I don't think they removed his body because either a) Harry didn't mention it to anyone or b) Nagini came back and ate it. I think b is more likely, since Harry now regards Snape as a hero and wouldn't have "forgotten" his body, and that seems like something that Nagini would do and Voldemort would allow.
AWESOME book...favourite so far.... ron killing horcrux & harry at the gringotts & battle of hogwarts my most favorite........but can anyone please tell me whether dumbledore really raised harry 2 slaughter him like a pig or he said so just for snape????? PLEASE ANSWER
hermione5819- Yes i was wondering that too.... since the first couple of chapters I kept my eyes open for other cut promises.... maybe we should all try to ask her about that stuff on her live chat later...
