Wow, that's great! I can't imagine how many copies were sold all around the world.

Posted by SheWhoVisitsFrequently Jul 23rd 2007

Amazing... to think that it was for a book. I love it.

Posted by eximius Jul 23rd 2007

gosh, i agree with dracomalfoy_marauderfan 100%. I don't really know what to do with myself now that it's over... after i finished the book, i seriously bawled my eyes out for several minutes, it just hit me that the series was truly over...

Posted by ImAHPDorkRUJealous Jul 23rd 2007

This book was amazing! I locked myself in my room for 7 hours to read it! It made me happy, sad, mad, and confused!!! Granted, I'm not confused anymore. I have never read a book that did all of that to me! But then I just sat there hugging the book for another 10 minutes thinking, "Wow...this is really it. This is the LAST ONE." I can't believe there aren't gonna be anymore HP books to cheer about the day they come out. But now I can re-read all of them anytime I want and I'll have memories of my childhood when I'm older. When I have kids, these are gonna be some of the first books I introduce to them...well, once they can read quite well. I'm sorry if I'm rambling on, but....it's just like wow. Oh, and I can't believe some of the people that died!!! Iw as like "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!" The ending was good though, I'll give JKR that. She's an amazing author!! =]

Posted by rockbox122 Jul 23rd 2007

Awesome! The book was the best book in the series by far!

Posted by katerina Jul 23rd 2007

I had great expectations about this book and it has lived up to every single one of them. I cried, I laughed and then cried again ... I felt excited and depressed and hopeful and nostalgic. It was a unique experience. Having finished it and knowing that there will be no more, let's just say that it is extremely difficult. I keep wondering what carrers the followed. I could picture a certain happy father at the train station as a wand maker, he'd certainly be good at it after gaining all that knowledge!!!

Posted by aevans Jul 23rd 2007

~~~~~SPOILERS~~~~~~~~ Sh inners: i think it was the memory that he gave to harry... cause these memories are usu kept in bottles and later that was the chapter on the prince's tale.... its was sooo sad but i am glad my sapne-likes-lily-and-he-i s-on-the-good-side theory was right
Posted by Shakespeares_Sister Jul 23rd 2007
Amazing. 8.3million. Th e book was amazing too. Can't say I'm happy that its all over for the books. I loved how it ended though. I had loads of spazms and silent screaming attacks throughout the book, too. I bet loads of people did. Best book ever.
Posted by Essence Jul 23rd 2007
Yeah, hardly any of my m8s have it. DH ROX! its the best one =)
Posted by h29904 Jul 23rd 2007
I just finished reading the book 10 minutes ago!! I totally loved it!!! i cried, i laughed, it made my head want to explode from all the emotion and me holding my bearth... i suffered!!! (in a good way of course!!) im from Mexico, the Pottermania is very high at this country too, when i got my copy at midnight on friday and started reading i could only think of the millions of people who would be reading at the same time as meeee!!!
Posted by EmUh Jul 23rd 2007
SPOILERS I BEG YOU NOT TO READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE BOOK! I loved the book dearly. I feel a bit empty now thats it's over. Out of all of my sisters (3) i finished first. We each got a copy and i know this book will be treasured in my memories forever. I cried so hard on the brave march into the forbidden forest with his departed family,and I laughed at some of the tent scenes, and at Kreatchers return to harry at Hogwarts, not to mention the great one liners. At points I shook with fear, anticipation, and grief. I bawled when Dobby saved them all, and yelled at the book with puffy eyes when I lost my favorite character, rest in peace Fred, and thank you Jo.
Posted by Shakespeares_Sister Jul 23rd 2007
I agree with you katerina. Cried, laughed, cried... I also rejoiced and squeeled with glee. I'll have to have another go at the book; I need to read it once more.
Posted by boggart2 Jul 23rd 2007
I found out the number of one of the spoilers it is 978.996.7177 here is the link to the yotube video where he tells people on a megaphone about the ending of the book. http://youtube.com /zakbroman He says that people do not understand that the purpose of the video was to make us "harrypotterfaggots" angry. You know what to do.
Posted by McBrian Jul 23rd 2007
thats freaking awesome. harry potter fans unite!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Shakespeares_Sister Jul 23rd 2007
See, I know. Magicalme4706, you are right. There was something else too. Well, not really but I was hoping that maybe Harry would go back and just meet up with the Dursleys or... maybe if they recieved more of a change of heart- much like Dudley- they would go find Harry. I mean, I felt like having the Dursleys apologze and remark how brilliant Harry was. haha
Posted by boggart2 Jul 23rd 2007
I almst forgot, here is his e-mail zakbroman@gmail.com
Posted by katerina Jul 23rd 2007
To Shakespeares_Sister: yes, I squeeled too :-) My boyfriend (who likes the movies but hasn't read the books and couldn't believe I crie over a book) kept telling me "Will you stop stroking the book please? It's disturbing" Because after I had finished it I kept looking at it and stroking it and feeling empty that it is all over.
Posted by Kiotzu Jul 23rd 2007
It's really all over....maybe...JKR said she was not ruling writing another one out, it was a possibilty, just not in her head yet..or something...i would love another one, i have already started re-reading the story. ((SPOILERS)) I did predict that tonks and lupin would die, as soon as harry was made god-father
Posted by fiddlenoodle Jul 23rd 2007
you know, 8.3 million is a lot, but it's cool to think that like, i actually own one of those 8.3 million sold in that short period of time.
Posted by Shakespeares_Sister Jul 23rd 2007
katerina: haha. I was sorta just holding it in awe that it was the final one ever. Unless we are honored by the fabulous J.K. Rowling with a continuation. Which would be great. I wish there could have been more to the Epilogue; only 6 of the main characters were mentioned... which was kinda a bummer- but great nontheless. HARRYGINNY!!! Gah, love them Im much of a canon supporter- always have been. Boggart2: darn THEM! I would have hurt them harshly if I were in Boston... But, fortunately I wasnt. Kiotzu: I was hoping for them not to die- Lupin and Tonks: but, imediately after Tonks ran for Lupin I just knew they'd die. Poor Teddy. At least he had his God-Father. Who's a better god-father than 'Arry. haha. Sirius was a good one too...
Posted by nick4ubaby Jul 23rd 2007
for greater good? ^_^
Posted by JaFF Jul 23rd 2007
Not really surprising that it has out-stripped all other sales. Everyone knew there was more to come later with the other books. This one was the last one and everyone wanted to get it before being spoiled I'm guessing ;)
Posted by magical_mel Jul 23rd 2007
wow! Fantastic. And what a wonderful book it was! I'm sad that there's nothing left... I cried for hours. But I feel satisfied with the ending.
Posted by _Elphie_ Jul 23rd 2007
Perfect ending. ... *wistful, sad, nostalgic smile* --> =;|
Posted by HPFANTimothy Jul 23rd 2007
I cannot believe it's over... My mum used to read Philosopher's stone to me, and ever since I was hooked... I was a fan of Jo and her books even before Harry Potter made it's big-break... I loved Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban... Goblet of Fire was great, and then I was growing much older and I really started to understand about it all... Order of the Phoenix came out and I was outside Borders at Chadstone with all the other fans... then Half-Blood Prince I purchased in Camberwell.. and Now I THOUGHT that I'd love the Deathly Hallows. But I hated it, it was a great book and it was really gripping! But all the deaths... the characters lost forever... and of course, the end of the great adventure from where I'd been with Harry RIGHT from the beginning! Just like Jo said in the dedications! And now it's OVER. I just feel so happy, yet angry that there will probably never be another Harry Potter book for me to look forward to, never be a brand new Harry Potter book for me to know nothing of until I had finished reading... I don't think I'll ever feel that trembling sensation as I opened the front page and read the first chapter... just the one's I have read on countless occasions. And what about the characters? I so want to know what happens to them now... to Hermione and Ron's daughter and son, and Harry and Ginny's young Albus, James and Lily! I'm in Melbourne Australia by the way... we have Bloomsbury like the UK editions :P
Posted by mrspotter11 Jul 23rd 2007
oh i'm so sad its all finished! what will i do!
Posted by jan94 Jul 23rd 2007
I'M JUST GONNA THROW EVERYTHING OUT! -- omg! this was the best book by far! the way you were thrown into the excitement the second Harry left the Dursleys! i feel so terrible about Fred and George though! first George loses his ear then Fred dies?! why did JK have to separate the twins?! THAT DEPRESSED ME THE MOST OUT OF ANYTHING! i loved the way that Ron couldn't help screaming his heart out for Hermione when she was being tortured, even though Harry, who claims to love her like a sister, was perfectly calm! I'm happy those two got married =] can't say the same about Harry and Ginny though. i don't feel like i knew enough about Ginny to be happy. Cho or even Luna (i love her) would have been better. i absolutely loved it when Mrs. Weasly called Bellatrix a girl and finished her off! i did not, however, love that Snape had to die because I found his love story adorable yet tragic =[ at least Voldy's dead and everyone has a butt load a ridiculously named children! i could have never worked out the deathly hallows and i find JK incredible for thinking up all the twist that went with them! I'M GONNA MISS U HARRY POTTER!!!!
Posted by LaurenWeasley Jul 23rd 2007
OMG yeah! the book was AMAZING so im not surprised. the book made me BAUL! especially with fred, lupin, tonks, dobby and with harry (when you thought he was dead).. OMG. i was bauling. and also the 'ninteen years later' thing, i knew that was gonna be in there, but i didnt know how jk would write it. it was ADORABLE. made me baul. the harry potter series has made my lifetime worth living. and i know i may sound like a mentalcase, but its true. harry potter is my life!
Posted by jan94 Jul 23rd 2007
"Mrs. Weasly called Bellatrix a girl and finished her off!" i have no idea what i was saying two comments up! i meant to say "girl" *face palm*
I pre-ordered the book on amazon when it first became available for pre-order through them on February 1st, then when July 21st came and I was impatient in waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail, I went down to the nearest Wal-Mart and picked up the book upon opening! I got it at 7am and my Amazon copy came at noon. By then I'd already read a good portion of the book, but now I have two copies :) I'm glad to have been able to help the sales of the book :) I should buy more and send them out to everyone for Christmas :) Lol.... I do have a sister who has a b-day coming up...
Posted by victory_magic07 Jul 23rd 2007
8.5 and well deserved. I agree with Magicalme4706 & Kiotzu though...I know JK was adamant that there would be NO more HP (SAD). But I just cant believe that its all over. There was such much that wasnt explained, so many promises unfufilled... wouldnt it be cool if she followed the next generation or took up Harry's story were the Epilogue left off. I know I'm desperatly clutching at straws but maybe in ten years time there will be another series... :)
Posted by jan94 Jul 23rd 2007
OK, now obviously mugglenet has restrictions against using the word b*itch. i was confused to see the word GIRL in it's place...
OMG!! YAY FOR JKROWLING!! She deserves it. She has worked her butt off. MAJOR congradualtions to her. GO JKROWLING!! WOOHOO!!
Posted by RKRK1313 Jul 23rd 2007
This book was extremely well-written (for the most part, excluding a few parts such as the epilogue). I absolutely loved it. One thing that certainly was missed but not something to cry over was the absence of the usual Hogwarts attendance. I think it made for a fresh book, though I did sometimes feel a longing to go back to Hogwarts. However, I attest this to not being a fault of the book, but simply because I was feeling what Harry was feeling: that he knew he had to leave Hogwarts to do this job, and even though he wished beyond anything that he could live a normal life with Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts, he could not, it was impossible, he had to get the Horcruxes. I also really loved the action and the foreboding feeling the book gave me. Especially when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are in the cafe after the Ministry falls. The book was so exciting, not to mention it had one of the most interesting plots out of any of the books. I do think a chapter 37 was in order before the epilogue though, to explain in detail what happened to the wizarding world afterwards. And also, I think an entirely reworked epilogue would have done better, because the only part of it I liked was when Harry tells his son that it does not matter which house he is sorted into and that he does indeed have a choice. Otherwise, it was the best Harry Potter book!
Posted by katerina Jul 23rd 2007
Yeah LaurenWeasley, many people call me mental too ... but I really don't care. I'm 26 and hooked on Harry Potter so I'm an easy target of ridicule but I really don't mind. I have something that I love so very much, that has offered me great moments and has made me laugh and cry and feel excited and depressed. Something that has helped me overcome some great fears and has given me friends. So what if I'm mental??
Posted by bEtHyBoP13 Jul 23rd 2007
JK Rowling sells a book every 4 seconds in Britain according to the newspaper :S i wouldn't be surprised.....:D
Posted by RKRK1313 Jul 23rd 2007
Oh, and I loved that the trio finally was able to take matters into their own hands. They were no longer under the guidance of anyone. This was strictly their job to do now. I thought that was cool.
Posted by jan94 Jul 23rd 2007
i think (even though i love JK) that the epilogue was pretty bad. i'm it's great to know every one is married w/ kids and all, but there wasn't enough detail. LUNA WASN'T EVEN MENTIONED AFTER SHE EVEN PAINTED THAT PICTURE OF HER FRIENDS ON HER CEILING! what about Hogwarts? who's the head master, eh? and what are Harry, Ron, and Hermione working as? oh, and it annoyed me that all of Harry's kids were named after the people that meant most to him while Ginny didn't even bother bringing up her dead brother! poor Fred... =[
IT IS? that lucky boy gets his birthday a couple of days after finding out he's gonna live to marry his hogwarts sweet heart. =]
Posted by jan94 Jul 23rd 2007
JK spent a fairly long amount of time talking about Mad-Eye Moody's death, and really, does anyone care about him? and i mean, honestly, i was very sad when Dobby died, but why didn't any of the other deaths seem to matter as much? Fred and George are among the most beloved characters in this entire series, and I really wish she had focused more on his death. Particularly on George's reaction to it. Obviously he is going to be sad, she portrayed that in the book; but they were seriously more than best friends. They were sooo close, and merely saying that 'George kneeled by his head' is nowhere near enough to convey the anguish that George must be feeling. Ugh, it just seemed like every death that happened in this book was like '____ died. Harry could not believe that _____ was no longer with him. Then later, it hit him with a blow.' and then that was it. I mean for Tonks, it was just like what, a paragraph? Rowling just kind of lumped her in with Lupin and Fred's death. At least with Lupin and Fred, she expanded a teensy-weensy bit, but with Tonks, it was just like 'uh, yeah. she died, btw.' yes, I loved this bookmoore than the others, but I wasn't pleased with how the deaths were handled...
