So I suppose that this is the perfect opportunity for my final tribute to JK Rowling. I must say that she has absolutely outdone herself throughout this series. I gre up with Harry Potter. I feel like I know him, like he was my best friend or something. I cried ever so hard when I closed the cover of the 7th book. I was upset that it was over. I was sad for the losses, but happy for the gains. I was proud of the trio and confident that they would make it through. I am so greatful to Rowling for writing these books that brought my family so close together. I just want her to know that I will forever miss looking forward to Harry Potter books. [ps. I am NOT surprised about these books sales. Not in the least] =]

Does anyone feel like me that the epilogue was inconclusive and vague? The more I think about it the more I think that JK has reconsidered her promise not to write anymore HP.

Posted by xxwhosxthatxgirlxx Jul 23rd 2007

I agree with voctory_magic07. I do believe that the epilogue was very vague and slightly dissatisfying. I do think that she leaves it open for yet another set of Harry Potter After Hogwarts set...haha..

I cried for deaths; then I cried cause theres no more Harry Potter. Ever. Amazing book, though.

"That was bloody brilliant!" I can't believe the emotional rollercoaster that I've been on for the last 2 days!! First, incredible frustration; I had the book in my bag, but was volunteering at a community event and had no opportunity to open it for 6 whole hours! Then I opened it......action packed, nerve wracking, funny, scary, gut wrenching, heartbreaking, spine-tingling, triumphant.....adjectives fail me!! I loved the pensieve scene and Harry's reaction to what he saw there. The spoilers were largely inaccurate, (at least the ones I inadvertantly saw were, I didn't go hunting for them!) I really hope that anyone still waiting for their copy will enjoy the book as much as I did. I think it came to a fitting end and I don't feel sad, I will always have these books. My son is six and I can't wait to see him experience the same thrill!

Posted by chompo Jul 23rd 2007

Well, guess I'm one of them. DH rocks! :)

Posted by ginnyweasley393 Jul 23rd 2007

WOW...thats a lot of books. I finished it Sat. morning and I was really happy with it for like and hour, and then all of a sudden I got depressed. I am still depressed even after I keep telling myself that it is just a book. But HP was more than a book to me. It was a big part of my life. I was consantly re-reading, writing theories, reading theories, going online to hear the latest news....its hard to belive that it is over. I tried doing things to get HP off my mind yesterday but then I related everything I saw to HP which made me even more depressed. Its like losing a friend. There will be no more midnight release parties, anticipation, theory writing...I will have to live on re-reads and then some day when I have children, I will share these books with them...I hope that nobody (especially me) will forget Harry Potter.

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

i will never forget harry potter. it has been such a big part of my life, now i look back on it, i don't think i could have lived like i do now without it. i am proud to be a fan, completely obsessed with it all. i have spent my childhood and teenagers years theorizing, parties, on here and forums, etc. i won't forget it at all, it will always stay with me. i feel as though i have binded with many of the characters. i will read these to my children one day when i have children too. the books may have ended but the magic is still alive.

I'm so sad it's over. Honestly. I didn't really cry in the book, because I wasn't as "in to" it? But i was absolutely bawling when it was over, just because it was over. Did anyone else not like the epilogue? I was really disappointed with that.

Posted by Godric_83 Jul 23rd 2007

at least we can still anticipate for the movies ... and movie seven will be the best because the book was.

Posted by harry_victoria Jul 23rd 2007

WOOT WOOT! YIPPEE, 8.3 million sales! Gosh, thats alot! I agree with dracomalfoy_maraunderfan. ... I feel empty and lost, I just have to get it through my head that it's the FRIGGIN LAST ONE!!! Oh well, at least I still have Mugglenet and MNFF. :) -harry_victoria xoxo

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

i am really excited tho deep down to see what the director for the last one will make of it. i expect it to be a vey long film, like the last lort was. it should at least b three hours to fit everything important in. i thought yates fight scene at the ministry was amazing, just think that but ten times bigger and everything. that was a little fight, imagine what someone could do with the final hogwarts deatheater battle. it will definately be a good film, just like it is a brill book...

Posted by biveboy Jul 23rd 2007

GUTTED........... soooo sorry Sev. I should never have doubted you. I have waited this book for a long time and it has not dissapointed me. JKR has hit a home run with this final adventure. a wonderful mix of humour and horror and all that went in between. for those of you who are still reading it, enjoy! and for those that are finished, i'm sorry for your loss..... I shall return to read them all again some day, but not now.... Its just to painful......

Posted by linda Jul 23rd 2007

I'm one of those 8.3 million! =D It was amazing. BEST EFFIN BOOK EVER!

Posted by PotterLove06 Jul 23rd 2007

YEAH! And so many more ppl will buy.

Posted by RunnerGirl08 Jul 23rd 2007

Awesome! And I'm sure that through reviews, and word of mouth, the number of sold copies will increase immensely as more people learn just what an INCREDIBLE book this is!

Posted by venden Jul 23rd 2007

so many people feel the same way as i do.. empty and sad that there will be no more books! :( i don't even feel like watching the movies any more, atleast at the moment.. does anyone else feel that the ending was not proper? we did not get to see how the weasleys coped with fred's death? how did george survive? and why were none of ronz or harryz kids named after fred? what happened to the twins joke shop? what did ron and harry do for a living? it was so weird reading '19 years later'...ron still sounded like a 17 year old :D and i kept confusing the kids! and was victorie someone we knew? even then, i found the epilogue very sweet!

Posted by stasi24 Jul 23rd 2007

the book iz amazing. but wtf?! it's dan's birthday?! why does nobody update the site about it?!

Posted by Ruby_321 Jul 23rd 2007

Im soooooooo sad its over. I grew up with the trio and i cried soooooo much when it was over.. but may theory about R.A.B was exactly right which makesme happy. Jo is a remarkable woman with an amazing imagintion...i really hope she writes some more..hopefully something about the marauders - that would be amazing. Thanks again jo for an amazing 6 years of my life filled with Harry Potter!

Posted by EchelonGirl Jul 23rd 2007

This is so awesome! Someday we'll all look back on this weekend and say we were one in 8.3 million. We're all part of history now, guys! Oh and randompotterfreak87: Last I checked the box set was on sale through Amazon for $122. i was wondering too when they were going to put up dans birthday. i have been watching out for it...anyway, i will wish him a good birthday here for the time being. happy birthday dan! 18 at last!!!!! have a geat day and enjoy yoyr first beer! ha ha

Posted by wandless07 Jul 23rd 2007

This was definitely my favorite. I fully agree with everyone whos saying that the epilogue was very vague. I can truely see more books written about the kids adventures, but not Harry. Hmmm, JK lying???? *spoiler*(and I know it's dangerous to say this, but did anyoe else notice the similarities with Lord of the Rings?? The bad tempers when wearing the horcrux, the misty world where the young adventurer meets up with the wise old man, the previously evil elf becoming good??) *spoiler*

Posted by Josi Jul 23rd 2007

ok what the hell! why was snapes blood silver! why did he die! why was not more done!!! this book sucked! JO SHAME ON YOU

Posted by mcq07 Jul 23rd 2007

i really hope their is an eight book, even possibly with harry's son being the main character. jo better think about it soon, or i will write one.

Posted by LadyFirebolt Jul 23rd 2007

I'm the same age as Harry! I grew up at the same time he did in the books, and well, I feel like I'm right next to him! Truly a reading sensation.

Posted by callayhpmagic Jul 23rd 2007

YAY! haha one of those copies is mine! haha p.s. happy birthday daniel radcliffe!

Posted by Nizmat Jul 23rd 2007

I read an interview once with Sir Alec Guiness and in it he expressed a little disappointment that people had seen the Star Wars episodes 4,5 & 6 hundreds of times and felt lost because they'd finished (this is before Ewan McGregor thought he was Sir Alec) He thought it was a shame that people didn't realise what a wealth of literature and film there was out there because they'd invested too much in one story. I'm not saying that HP fans are blinkered or anything like that, but now you've got the reading bug, GO FOR IT!!!! Experiment, join the local library!!! Jo is a brilliant writer, but she's one of thousands, and surely of all the squillions of books out there you might, just might find something else that grabs you by the goolies in the same way HP did!!

Posted by Findarato Jul 23rd 2007

The book definitely celebrates all that is Harry Potter and the world beyond the realms of muggles. Loved every bit of it, and besides JK Rowling did say it is her fave book of the series. And Scholastic also said that Harry Potter and the Death Hallows is a book bound to break records. =)

Posted by mcq07 Jul 23rd 2007

at the same time im seriously thinking of writing book 8, but i dunno definitly yet.

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Jul 23rd 2007

Book 7. She killed all the people, I least expected. Although I thought one of the twins would die, but I had my money on GEorge. Epilogue was vague, pity. Ok. Totally wrong about Snape. Wrong about Harry, sorta. (After all, he WASNT a horcrux), and wrong about Snape and Lily.-----Was it just me, or was dudleys worst memory never revealed? Cause I dont remember reading it...0_o.

Posted by JupieSmurf Jul 23rd 2007

Almost everyone is saying that the 7th book was their favourite one. But there is still so much more I want to know. Who was the new headmaster of Hogwarts? What happened to all the others after the war? e.g., Prof. McGonagall, Luna, the Weasleys, etc. What were Harry and the others' occupations? What were his parents' occupations? I wish she'd write just ONE more book to fill in the gaps and tie up some lose ends that are still left. That being said, the book was still great. But I think my favourite is still either the 3rd, 5th or 6th. I can't believe it's all over... =( My life feels so empty right now!!!

Posted by Josi Jul 23rd 2007

Sorry peps this book SUCKED OUT LOUD! She was way off base, I think she just cramed all her left overs into it! no wedding! SNAPE LIVE's HIS BODY WAS NOT WITH THE REST OF THEM

Posted by mcq07 Jul 23rd 2007

i agree jupiesmurf. i feel like writing book 8 myself if JK doesnt. is that a good idea though? its all copyright i guess.

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Jul 23rd 2007

Errr...in defense of Jo, there WAS a wedding, and it was the last book, she had to tie everything up. Not a very easy thing to do with six previous books. And it did not suck, it was just a differnet tone then the rest ,cause of them leaving hogwarts.----Oh, and for who ever asked, Victoire was Bill and Fleurs daughter.

Posted by katydidmama Jul 23rd 2007

I loved it--though the pace was exhausting. I cried over Snape. I am, in a word, bereaved--as Jo Rowling said she was once she finished writing it. A lot of characters died, and a lot of the things I thought would happen, did--I won't spoil it--but I have to confess that I found the epilogue to be completely unsatisfying. At nearly 800 pages, the book feels--incomplete. It was a very good book, and I'm sure she felt that she'd tied up the loose ends, but after the detail that went into the previous 3 books (GoF, OotP, HBP), the end of this book (and of course, the end of the series) was strangely unsatsifying--the previous books had epilogues of their own (though they weren't called that--they were just the chapters after the climactic battle scenes) that helped the reader to process and sort what they'd just read--she doesn't do that with this book. The climactic battle scene ends, there's a few pages where it's obvious she's wrapping things up, then the leap forward in time for the epilogue. I will go so far as to say I felt cheated by the way she ended the book, though I can see why she'd do it the way she did.

Posted by Josi Jul 23rd 2007

we can write book 8 after so many sales it becomes public domain.... how ever the hell you spell it! shame on you jo.... I am re-writing book 7,,,, SANPE WILL LIVE and you will see what happens with the rest of the group

Posted by iamhouseelf Jul 23rd 2007

that really was the best book ever, i don't think anyone could ever top that series, THANK YOU sooooooooooooooo much JK, idk what i'd have done for the last 8 years w/ out you, thanks for sharing your spectacular world w/ us, i can't believe it's over i'm actually waiting for another book, encyclopedia????????????? ? ........please?

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever Jul 23rd 2007

Errrr, while your at it. What about Moody? remember the ONE eyed beggar? Besides Snape is dead, I think its better this way, after Lily, I think Snape really didnt care anymore...

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

but remember, snape's body was in the shrieking shck and harry didn't have time to tell anyone it was there because he had tio go and look at th ememories then to the forbidden forest then kill voldemort. he didn't have time to say anything, nor did hermione or ron. that wasn't the main thing on their mind at the time and no-one else knew that he was dead so his body wouldn't have been there with lupins etc. i think it was brilliant, absolutely amazing.

Posted by victory_magic07 Jul 23rd 2007

Everything is set up for more books. That epilogue (a real sore spot for me) left a new series perfectly poised. Maybe the new generation or maybe a trilogy in the adult magical world with Ron, Harry and Hermione. Here's hoping

Posted by harryfisto Jul 23rd 2007

im lucky i was 16 in line and only got 1 death spoiled it was awesome i even got onstage for an event the great snape debate my side won i even dressed up took a few breaks but finished first day love mugglecast see yah!

Posted by StrawberryKiwi Jul 23rd 2007

That's more than twice the amount of people living in my state. xD

Posted by pottercakes Jul 23rd 2007

I loved the book, but somehow it didn't live up to my expectations. I guess that's my own fault because I had such HIGH expectations for it, but it was good nevertheless. I kinda hated the epilogue though...thought it could have been alot better. It sounded like some lame fan fiction. But wow. 8.3 million copies. That is beyond amazing and I'm so proud and happy to say I was one of them! YAY Jo!

Posted by Josi Jul 23rd 2007

your a retard! there should have been so much more! how do you jum 19ys in the future and not have more detail! there was only one good chapter and that was with the Snape background. you see him for the good man that he was

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

in my opinion, best book ever. i think severus's death was necessary. he deserved peace after everything he went through to help harry and his love for lily.

Posted by BriarRose Jul 23rd 2007

yay!!! i wonder what the count is for the UK????????

Posted by xxwhosxthatxgirlxx Jul 23rd 2007

For all of those who are depressed about the series ending: it is only over when we stop believe the magic and carrying out the Harry Potter traditions. The books will always be with us, even if there will be nothing new. I will miss them dearly, but I know that they will always be there. This book was by far the best end to a series I have ever ready. And I know that the epilogue was kind of disappointing, but just think...she made it so vague for a reason. Maybe another book? Keep your finger crossed.... =]
