Ohhh...and I am so sorry to Dumbledore for ever having questioned his judgement. He was so right about everything. And JKR was right about the chapter that I both loved and loathed. And most of my predicitons were correct =]

Posted by Kadaj Jul 23rd 2007

Please!! Rewrite the book!! It was nothing but disappointments. So many people feel cheated. And the Prince lives!! Where is his portrait?

Posted by stasi24 Jul 23rd 2007

~sorry for my english~ im really scared that one day i wake up, and everybody will forget about harry potter! and i will be the only one that miss the books! but i hope that day will never come!

Posted by Mrsroonil_wazlib Jul 23rd 2007

HA! I KNEW IT! ok i got confised around the part where harry and dumbledore are "walking" and talking ab out "oh ya your dead but your not dead and voldemort isnt but but you'll not be dead to be dead for him......i was confused that whole chapter....i'll go reread it again

Posted by xxwhosxthatxgirlxx Jul 23rd 2007

Stasi24- You will not be alone. I have the same fear. Long Live Harry Potter.

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

oops, i accidentally posted at the top sorry lol. anywayi think she ended it like that on purspose, leaving such a gap. it makes us think of what could have happened in between,a nd keeps us theorizing! i think she has to write something else one day, whether it is the marauders time or harry's childrens time. such a good book!!!! i can't stop saying that..an amazing book!

Posted by JupieSmurf Jul 23rd 2007

Sticky1 Oh, that would be so awesome if she wrote some books about James, Sirius', Lupin and Snape's time at Hogwarts! Man, I really hope this wasn't her last Harry Potter book ever, cause there is still so much I want to know!!!

Posted by YouKnowWhoIam Jul 23rd 2007

what's with the emphasis on the words hole and ear in the poll, did i...OHHHH with George? That makes sense...but it's a little insensitive if you think about it...

Posted by Mrsroonil_wazlib Jul 23rd 2007

she never really told us what as so special about Harry having Lily's eyes....or maybe i just forgot that part because i read it at 4 o clock in the morning...

Posted by xxwhosxthatxgirlxx Jul 23rd 2007

YouKnowWhoIAm- It wasn't really insensitive...well not to George. Those were exactly the same jokes used in the books. Maybe it is a little insensitive to those who have not yet read it...

Posted by SpaceyStacey Jul 23rd 2007

dude I didn't get mine til like close to 3am on friday night

Posted by Ibs Jul 23rd 2007

WOW Thats great :)

Posted by magic101 Jul 23rd 2007

DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder what happened to The Ministry after voldy fell? What about the rest of the Weasley's? Umbridge? Mr. Ollivander? What about the Dursley's? Surely after 19 years, Harry has talked to them at least once! Hermione's family? I know they started rounding up death eaters, but did they catch them all? What about the Malfoy's. Clearly at the end Draco was free, but his parents? Soo many people we haven't learned about!!!

Posted by Kadaj Jul 23rd 2007

Well, she said we would know "EVERYTHING"...there was nothing inaccurate about that claim...

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

Mrsroonil_wazlib - it was explained but it wasn't that obvious, you sorta really had to think about it. the line: ''look...at...me'' that severus whispers before he dies. he loks into harry's eyes, his mothers eyes. severus loved lily, and he hated harry because he looked like james, but he couldn't hate harry as much because he had lily's eyes. think how snape must have felt, the one he loved married and had a son with the one who hurt him and they produced a son who looked like the man he hated, but had the eyes of the one he loved. it hurt him. snape's patronus was a doe, like lily's which is another sign as to how he loved her. when severus tells harry to look at him, he wants to look into the eyes that are from lily's, that look like the person he loved. i guess it put him at ease. it sorta makes sense, but you really have to think about it, it took me awhile.

Posted by AmberJane Jul 23rd 2007

yay!!! Go Jo!! Go go Jo! Go go Jo! ha ha, Andrew Lloyd Webber anyone? lol. Anyway, three of those 8.3 million are at MY house! And three more are in the houses of people in my neighborhood, as they were with me when I bought them. Woooo!!!!!

Posted by hpfando Jul 23rd 2007

I'm not very surprised by this news, since the last book in this great series would garner a lot of attention.

Posted by hpluver16 Jul 23rd 2007

omg it waz the best book of them all!!!!!!!!!! im so upset about fred though!!!!!! i knew it waz coming, i must say. i knew one of the twins would die. i wonder what happened to the joke shop???? and i think lupin and tonks deaths were completely unneccesary. i mean, yea, harry is the godfather, like sirius was his, but, right after they had a child!!!!!!!!!! and hedwig, how could she!!!!!! and i thought although horribly sad, i felt it was neccesary for snape to die before harry knew the truth. all in all i thought this was a very good book. and i hope she writes about james, albus, lily, rose, and hugo!!!! oh and also victoire or watever her name is and teddy lupin!!!!!

Posted by HP_FAN_07 Jul 23rd 2007

What a great book!! Best of the series by far. She really did tie up pretty much every single loose ends.

Posted by magic101 Jul 23rd 2007

Who is Victorie?!!?!?!

Posted by magic101 Jul 23rd 2007

Who is Victorie?!!?!?!

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

victorie is fleur and bill's daughter.

Posted by l00nyl0veg00d Jul 23rd 2007

congrats jo! although I would have like to have read a few more of the things mugglecast said they forgot

Posted by polkadots56 Jul 23rd 2007

Yeah. HP OWNS! I feel so proud that I contributed 2 copies to that count. yeahhh.

Posted by hpluver16 Jul 23rd 2007

yea i heard that on mugglecast and victoire is a fench name so fleur is french and she married bill and then lily sed teddy would really be part of the family if he married victoire and now harry is married to ginny whose related to ron whose married to hermione. god its confusing

Posted by Nizmat Jul 23rd 2007

Why is everyone in a tiz about the epilogue?? Anyone who knows about Jo's love of Jane Austin should go and look at the last chapter of Pride and Prejudice. JA gives a brief outline of what happens to everyone after the happy ending, millions of readers sighed and wondered if there would ever be more and some misguided idiot tried nearly two hundred years later to write a really bad sequel. (she succeeded....it was really, really bad!!!) The book is what it is, no more and no less. Jo is obviously happy with it, otherwise we'd still be waiting for it! Let's just hope that in two hundred years people are still reading it, and sequel writing has been outlawed......

Posted by hpluver16 Jul 23rd 2007

hopefully it will be outlawed!!!!!!!! i mean, jo owns all the characters so.... and anyway if anyone tried to write a sequel it would suck cuz no one knows harry potter like jo does.

Posted by JHawk Jul 23rd 2007

Alright I did a lot of thinking with my friends about answering the questions that were supposed to be answered. and the one that bothered us the most was, WHO PREFEORMS MAGIC LATE IN LIFE.... and ***********SPOILERS AHEAD*********** I think we figured it out.... or i did actually............. It was Dumbledore's sister Ariana. If you think about it, JKR builds up how she was a magic user, and then after the attack by the muggles on her, she lost all controlled use of her magical powers. Now it never says that she was a squib, and JKR said that it would be someone who I think shouldn't be performing magic, permforms it. and then... lo and behold, she performs it later in life. ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ND I thought about something else... myabe IT COULD BE.... dunbledore. because he is dead, and im sure he "passed on" as he said harry could. So how did dumbledore meet harry in king's cross? maybe he performed that bit of magic to meet harry there, unless (im listening to it again on audiobook) jkr has it that DD never makes his apprearance in his HW portrait, because I dont think we ever see him in it.... ************END OF SPOILERS************ O ther than that. I loved the book, the last half of the book was amazing, and the build up to it was really inticing. JKR has you reading right until the very end, but i agree tht the epilogue should have been rewritten, because when i got to it, it didnt have that same pump and pizaz that the other chapters had. But great book. HP makes me not want to read anything else now, except say LotR. I have the newest book of Elizabeth Haydon's Symphony of Ages saga, and I don't even wanna pick it up cause HP7 was soo good... although EH's books are pretty good. Anyway, hope you all enjoy the book and reread it a hundred times over. there's a lot to read inbetween the lines :)

Posted by xxwhosxthatxgirlxx Jul 23rd 2007

Nizmat- Nicely put.

Posted by victory_magic07 Jul 23rd 2007

Its just hard to let go Nizmat thats all...although I can think of something worse than a sequel... a prequel

Posted by xxwhosxthatxgirlxx Jul 23rd 2007

JHawk- That is an amazing theory about Ariana. I am thoroughly impressed...Hmm...now that makes me want to go back and read the entire book again. Does anyone know how much the audio book costs?

Posted by btownhockey44 Jul 23rd 2007

SPOLIER ALERT: All in all, I thought it was very good. But there were some things that I expected to be in there (namely thanks to the "Confirmed Information" section here in MuggleNet), such as: What was so important about Lily? (the stuff with Snape? thats all I can think of) What did we learn about Petunia? Who managed to do magic late in life? Why was the fact that Harry has LIly's eyes important? Why do some people become ghosts and others don't? And, most importantly: What the hell was the scene on the cover of the U.S. edition? If anyone knows the answers to these, please help me out.

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

but didn't jo say the person that does magic is a person that hasn't done magic before. love the book tho, i am rereading it at this very moment.

Posted by hermyown7777 Jul 23rd 2007

That's great! It really was an amazing book. Jo definetly deserves it!

Posted by hpluver16 Jul 23rd 2007

btownhockey-the us cover is when harry kills voldemort and disarms him at the same time, he is reaching to catch the elder wand. snape loved lily, when he was about to die, he looked into harrys eyes, which were the same as lilys, he loved lily, etc. i think it was ariana about the later life magic. petunia wanted to go to hogwarts when she was little, she wrote a letter to dumbledore.

Posted by G11nyW33zly Jul 23rd 2007

SPOILER ALERT!!!!: I think the person who preformed magic later in life was Dudley 'cause of all that buisness in the second chapter about "not being a waste of space" or what ever the heck it was. But didn't JKR say somthing about spouses of teachers in one of her quotes? I suppose Lupin marrys Tonks but that's not much of a secret and he doesn't teach anymore... If anybody has an answer please tell me! IT WAS AN AWSOME BOOK! THREE CHEERS FOR JKR!!

Posted by Duffanator Jul 23rd 2007

My local Target where i picked up a copy had 600 copies as of Saturday morning I just checked it last night.... there was only 200 left! Wow. amazing. Half way through the book myself... i dont want it to end! But it will soon... :^(

Posted by Nizmat Jul 23rd 2007

btownhockey; read the last 3 paragraphs of chpt 32 and all of chpt 33 again!!!! this explains the significance of Lily's eyes! (and it's the only part of the book that gave me a lump in my throat!!)

Posted by sirius181 Jul 23rd 2007

I loved it. It took me Saturday afternoon/evening and most of Sunday to read (finished about 6 pm or so), of course that's with making dinner, doing laundry, etc etc thrown in....I could scarcely put it down. I think i need to RE-read it to pick up on what I missed, as I was zipping right through it....I loved when Molly stood up to....well, I don't want to spoil anything. :) It was great tho, I wish there were more books to come but really the ending summed it up nicely (if a bit quickly). I noticed a few posts that indicated there were still some questions, what were they? I think most of mine were answered.

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

btownhockey44- the cover of the us is in the great hall, harry and voldmeort are reaching for the elder wand. the people stood around the walls are the students, order emebers, deatheaters, etc watching them. Lily and snape: it was explained but it wasn't that obvious, you sorta really had to think about it. the line: ''look...at...me'' that severus whispers before he dies. he loks into harry's eyes, his mothers eyes. severus loved lily, and he hated harry because he looked like james, but he couldn't hate harry as much because he had lily's eyes. think how snape must have felt, the one he loved married and had a son with the one who hurt him and they produced a son who looked like the man he hated, but had the eyes of the one he loved. it hurt him. snape's patronus was a doe, like lily's which is another sign as to how he loved her. when severus tells harry to look at him, he wants to look into the eyes that are from lily's, that look like the person he loved. i guess it put him at ease. it sorta makes sense, but you really have to think about it, it took me awhile. petunia: what we learnt abou her was that she was almost jealous of lily. she wrote to hogwarts, to dd asking to have a place at hogwarts because she wanted to be a witch like lily too, to be with her. this showed how close they both were as sisters, and how much she didn't want to ruin their relationship.

Posted by flsilva Jul 23rd 2007

I finished the book on Sunday, it was just amazing, couldn't have been better, it is just great, but still got questions that need an answer, anyone got JKR publishers email??

Posted by btownhockey44 Jul 23rd 2007

SPOILER ALERT: One more question: I might've missed this because I read it so fast (lol) but did it mention what Dudley saw when the dementors attacked?

Posted by JHawk Jul 23rd 2007

Ok btownhockey44... lemme see if i can answer. ****SPOILERS**** Lily was important because it had a lot to do with why Harry survived, and what that meant to his protection later in life. We learn about Petunia that she wanted to be a witch like her sister, but when she was refused (in dumbledore's letter to her, the letter before the one about HP as a baby) she gained a very strong contempt towards the wizarding world. Ariana did magic later in life. The importance about Harry having his mothers eyes is that snape saw Lily in Harry, because of the eyes, and always was reminded of his love for her, and what he had asked and agreed to do with Dumbledore, Protect Lily Potter's Son. Some people become ghosts, I think, because they do not want to 'pass on', so they stay in that Limbo space aka to harry, king's cross, to someone else, like DD, maybe Hogwarts or his house in G's H. The scene on the US cover, i THINK is when harry is in the Forest, surrounded by the DE, and VM kills harry. I think them reaching for something is to throw us off... also, as we all know, on the UK cover, which we here in canada get, it is not Dobby or Kreacher that is hanging off of Harry, but Griphook. :) i thought that was cool.******END OF SPOILERS*********

Posted by SnitchSeeker777 Jul 23rd 2007

i contributed with 2 books!!! THE BOOK WAS AHHHHMAZING!!! i really loved snape in it, it was brilliant!

Posted by dkizzy1 Jul 23rd 2007

HOLY CRAP! at this rate, potter sales may surpass the bilbe.

Posted by shel Jul 23rd 2007

Wonderful book!!!! Lily's eyes gave Snape comfort when he died, I also thought there would be more to it. I knew Snape was good!!!! I felt really bad whwn Dobby died.... Thanks JO for many HP filled years, I will miss them...

Posted by TheMuggleFromAnywhere Jul 23rd 2007

you'll all hate me for this, but i was slightly dissapointed in the seventh book. especially the epilogue. it seemed to lose some of the magic that the other ones had. dont get me wrong, its still an incredible book but, respectivly, i think jk could have done better on the epilogue, the part were they break into the ministry, and the battle of hogwarts. still though, an incredible book, and i can not thank jk more for her inspirational genius in writing the harry potter legacy. they are, in my opinion, the greatest books of all time. or rather, the series as a whole.

Posted by deathlyhallowsyo Jul 23rd 2007

This book was incredible, no wonder that it sold so many copies. I mean, even my username is based off of how incredible it was. GodBlessTeddyLupi n. =]
