hmm... exciting is the emotional parts i guess or did it not affect you as it did for us? many questions are indeed left unans but i really think she wrote it the way she wanted to end it, just as she did 17 years ago... i dont think anyone who is here can be un-involved in the story line, or less than you are... she didnt insist that dumbledore was a jerk.. it has always been our choice to think and form opinions abt him... i dont think he is.. I think that as much 'bad' things have been said abt him. it was all these events that he went through as a boy that mould him the way he was, if he had not been power-hungry once, would he have been the wise headmaster we know him as? and she wasnt trying to say he was a bad person or changed our past 6 bks' opinion of him... she could never do that simply because it is not possible to say dumbledore was bad.. he was wise, kind and anazing, but that doesnt mean that he is not human enough to make mistakes! it is through these wrongs that we try to do right! and for the last question, it did took dumbledore years to get information but when the first puzzle falls in the right position, the rest will follow and fit. harry was always connected to voldy and this made a lot of guess working easier. if it had dragged any longer, other "fans" would have complained it was too draggy.. and please do not shout.. we can h'ear you... not to mention it is rude

Just wondering... did Harry actually know he had all three Hallows?

Posted by MissDracoMalfoy Jul 23rd 2007

Hey IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS 2, way to prove that you're mature with that post. I enjoyed how they always had to remain on the run and that Harry was able to make so many connections. Nut he didn't really do it by himself, did he? Dumbledore had helped him to locate horcruzes and allowed him to have his friends to assisst along the way. Jo didn't insist that Dmbledoe wasa bad man, only that he had flaws and wasn't perfect as Doge saw him. I thought that was important to show Harry that everybody has darknss within them but it is our choices that dictate what we do with the rest of our lives. Snape, Voldemort, Dumbledre, Harry and many others made choices that decided their lives and futures. The Deathly Hallows, to me, was one of the bigget choices Harry had to face. Would he choose to further his own power or to destroy Voldemort's hold on the world? Harry choosing to ontinue his horcruz hunt was just another way to show the difference between his choices and the choices of Voldemort. Yes, many people were disappointed by the epilogue, myself included, but get a grip. Just becuse smeone liked him doesn't mean they're not enough of an avid fan. Lastly, Lilly's eyes to me was very important. Snape loved Lilly. His last wish was just to see her eyes once more before he died. The only reason why Dumbledore trusted Snape so much was because he knew how much Snape loved Lilly, and that Snape was deeply hurt thatLilly was dead. How is that NOT important to understand? After seeeing Dumbledore killed by Snape last year, I thought that this was important to show that everyone loved someoe except for Voldemort. Sorry if that post was a little long. Tata darlings!

Sirius_lee: I'll type in a way you can understand no1 can answer me!!!!!! bcuz the only horcruz thathadtodo with Harry was the final one btwn him & VoLdYyYy! besides that DUmbledore could have defeated the rest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oki? &to the_last_hallow Sorry! I was under the impression that this was a fan-based site where people were ALLOWED TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINIONS! Way to comment directly about what I'm saying, instructing everyone to ignore me. WAY TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE!

before i read the res to fthe comments on the page...... IHATEDEATHLY.... DD said himself, the reason why he did not finsh off the Horcruxes or go after the rest of the hallows is because he was GREEDY for POWER... he said it himself, he did NOT want the Minister job because it would have GONE TO HIS HEAD. Harry Finding the Hallows/Horcruxes in one year is possible when DD did in fact leave him ENOUGH clues as to what they were, not WHERE they are. For that he had Ron and Hermione to help him, and 3 heads are better than 1... ALSO, there where many clues for harry, NOT FROM DUMBLEDORE that would lead him to all he needed to find. read the book again, SLOWLY, and pay attention to what it says. I have only read it once, and i am able to answer all these questions, maybe moreso than most on here who are asking them, because i paid attention to the meanings of what was being said. the last 300 pages took me a good 9 hours to read because of that. if someone else has answered before me posting. sorry i will continue to read now.

MichSet: Haha! I can't believe you're pleased that you're on the same side as IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS, who loves cap locks and dissing by means of calling us twelve years old. And by the way; I spent all that bloody time writing my post, someone better read it, respond to it, and reference it if they're going to argue with me.

Posted by Mcakkay Jul 23rd 2007

yeye! and it was worth it cuz it the best book i have ever read in my life..Jo is and amazing creator..so much imagination..I LUV YA JO!!!

Posted by SnapeKillsKira Jul 23rd 2007

The book rocked immensely. And I am now in the process of reading the series as one massive epic. Yeah. End of story.

Posted by sticky Jul 23rd 2007

EXACTLY!!! people have rushed the books and just haven't read in between the lines so are completely blind to everything. hear hear JHawk, or should i say 'ear 'ear..LOL

Posted by ragi Jul 23rd 2007

The story ends like Voldemort died mainly because of his own mistakes, carelessness, arrogance, overlooking things and underestimating people. How come LV didn't wonder how Harry could talk to snakes, something only Slytherin or his descendants could do? I'm sure he would have known about it from Lucius or Draco. Did he already know that Harry was a horcrux and still wanted to kill him to get rid of him? In Page 345, it says "he has killed the boy, but he was the boy". So, did he already know about it?

Posted by Katherine_The_Crowned Jul 23rd 2007

i really liked the book!! Now i feel closure!! Good way to end the series, wish i could say more! Brilliant book!

Posted by priori_incantantem Jul 23rd 2007

p.s. I think when Snape tells Harry to look at him so he can see Lily's eyes one last time before he dies was one of the most moving things not only of the series, but of anything I've ever read. sorry to anyone who's not there yet ....

Posted by Bereaving_fan Jul 23rd 2007

I think I will keep thinking about the book till my college starts... After that I guess it will just slip out of my mind or I hope so. I cannot live with the fact that there will no other book. I have been following them for so many years, years before it became so famous... I feel I have cut a part of me and thrown it away. *Sigh* What will happen to the unanswered questions? Who will answer them? We will just have to leave everyhting to imagination!

Posted by sirius_lee Jul 23rd 2007

IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS--- so? of course dumbledore could have defeated them but he DIED!!!!!!! wut r u trying 2 prove? the only bad thing was the epilogue and that was cuz jo rote it b4 starting her series so obviously her riting improved by now so just shut up

Posted by IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS Jul 23rd 2007

THIS IS WHY IM HOT

Posted by aevans Jul 23rd 2007

harry took the year off to find them didnt he but dumbledore had so much else to deal with... the series have always been for us as fans to read and interpret it for ourselves. it is not our duty to try and convince anyone if others are too forcused in their own feelings to consider and look from the other point of view... it is def not going to be our prob to start convincing pple who are just being rude to draw attention to themselves... lily's eyes were impt..it was one of the clues that made me come to the theory that snape loved lily even before bk 7 was out...

Posted by MichSet Jul 23rd 2007

to the person who said their dad died when they were 12... MY godparents and grandparents DIED WHEN I WAS 10 and i never met my mom and this is why i have such a grasp of life and why i tihnk children need to uinderstand that the world isnt just a fairtale and just because you go through hardships your life isnt perfect. This is why i was so upset by the book. NONE OF YOU UDNERSTAND HOW MUCH I RELATED HARRY TO ME AND DONT SAY I DONT KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE. THATS HWY I THINK IT NEEDS TO BE SO STRESSED THAT THE WORLD ISNT PERFECT IN SUCH A REALISTIC SERIES.

Posted by kmary77 Jul 23rd 2007

LOVED the book- especially Ron and Hermione...but I need to re-read the whole bit about the wands...that totally confused me

Posted by btownhockey44 Jul 23rd 2007

I wouldn't go as far to say i hated Deathly Hallows, but IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS makes some verrry strong points. It's ridiculous that Dumbledore has been working for like 10 years on finding ONE horcrux (the ring) and yet Harry was able to find, not only the weapons to get the job done, but actually destroy 3 in a matter of what, 2 months? takl about unrealistic. and for all those people who said that we would've complained more if the Deathly Hallows had been cut out, you're wrong. Because maybe if she hadn't inserted that clearly irrelevant part of the story, she might've been able to put in something that could've been interesting and relevant to the story, like oh say i dont know...THE VEIL? or at least spent a little more time focusing on the horcruxes as opposed to irrelevant story plots that are, truthfully, boring.

Posted by Kellyhubauer522 Jul 23rd 2007

Im a little disappointed. The book seemed to be missing alot of things and i didnt get the same feeling when reading it as i did with the other books..It seems to different, like it doesnt flow with the other books.. I do have to say though that it was a good book even though it wasnt as great as i was building it up to be.

Posted by Scorpius Jul 23rd 2007

I can't believe it's really over. I don't think I'll ever be able to move on. The book was simply incredible.

Posted by miraine Jul 23rd 2007

priori_incantantem: Yes! Yes, I absolutely loved that. I wanted to cry when I read that. Poor Snape, he's like my favorite character now. How tragic and misunderstood. Poor, badly dressed, gloomy, alone ever since he was young, he was rejected and judged wrongly, even by the Sorting Hat. He's even rejected by the side that he's working for. And imagine loving someone so much, but not being able to say it, and watching them marry your most hated memory, and then staring at Harry everyday of your life. He loved Lily so much he switched sides, he helped Harry, his patronus changed, for god's sake, to a doe.

Posted by mlc872 Jul 23rd 2007

I think alot of people read really fast through the book and missed alot. So many people missed the Ron/Hermione kiss and so much more. Harry never had all three Hallows at one time. He droped the ring in the forest so at the end he got the wand and had the clock but the ring was left in the forest. Slow down and reread the book there are alot of points people are saying were not answered but they were if you read it again. Oh and lastly, I really don't care what jobs the trio did later in life-not real important to me anyway.

Posted by AcidPops33 Jul 23rd 2007

IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS - 1) The constant not-knowing of whether or not Harry would find the Horcruxes, if they would be caught by Death Eaters, if one of the trio or anyone else beloved would die for the cause, whether they would escape whenever they were caught (especially by Voldemort) and figuring out what Dumbledore's clues meant towards the Horcruxes and Deathly Hallows. Maybe even a few more things I'm missing. 2) I will give you that the Epilogue was a bit thin, but I think the point was to show that Harry finally had some peace in his life. 3) Lily's eyes were very important in helping us understand Snape; why he was bitter to Harry, why Dumbledore trusted him, why he was just such an unlikeable person, why his Patronus was a doe, why he despised James so much, why Snape's Worst Memory was really his worst, and why he was just such a grouchy person to be around. 4) She wanted us to understand that not everyone is a wonderful person from birth, that even Dumbledore had flaws, and that our choices are really what makes us who we are. 5) Again, she wanted to show us that Harry at last had peace. And 6) Harry had help finding the Horcruxes with the clues that Dumbledore gave him (yes he did leave Harry clues, they were just in a less obvious manner, as is Dumbledore's way; he likes you to figure things out on your own instead of being told all of the answers), while Dumbledore was alone. Dumbledore did not tell anyone except for Harry about his quest. Harry also had Ron and Hermione. Dumbledore couldn't do it himself because it had to be Harry; when it came down to it it was Harry who had to kill Voldemort, and Dumbledore was planning to die anyway. 7) I found the book extremely interesting; the threat of death in the air throughout the entire book (Death Eaters!), learning the background of so many characters, Horcruxes and Hallows (which I thought were FASCINATING!) and knowing that we would soon find out how this last great adventure would end.

Posted by BatJeff Jul 23rd 2007

I Loved the book. easily my favourite of the series. I am upset that there will be no more though...

Posted by SnapeKillsKira Jul 23rd 2007

sirius_lee --- Even the epilogue wasn't so horrible. I think the reason most of us hate it is because of Albus-Severus. Poor kid. ----- MichSet - Yeah, the world ain't perfect, but realistically, the world ain't all death either. I would imagine that's what Harry Potter teaches children. Harry lost his parents, his godfather, on top of a few friends along the way. I wager he deserves his happiness. He's had enough for a lifetime, as the last line of the last chapter says.

Posted by mugglescene Jul 23rd 2007

I was one of those 8.3 million. xD It was awesome, at midnight. There were these guys, who kept yelling "HARRY" and everyone else said "POTTER". And they were just fans who had come, not any type of workers or anything. (:

IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS--- wut does ur alst comment have 2 do with anything???????????? and noe, its not true and u havent answered my comment rite above urs

Posted by HarryAndGinny4evr Jul 23rd 2007

IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS: Um how do I make this simple...NO ONE CARES. I mean ok dont like the book but to tell people that they are 12 year old to like its very immature which makes me second guess your age.. I love the book everything tied together. Im sad people died but I love how -Spoiler- Snape fed info to Voldemort making me think he really wsa bad to when he gave his memories and I found out he was good! I love the book.

Posted by HPfanFOREVER14 Jul 23rd 2007

MichSet, I am sorry to here of your loss and the fact that you never met your mom. I totally agree with you on all points. Children need to understand that people die and that life isn't perfect. In my opinion, the Harry Potter series is a series that is highly true to life, in that it shows death. For example, Tonks and Lupin dying right after they have a child. Fair? No. Does it really happen? Yes.

Posted by littledancinlady Jul 23rd 2007

Raise your hand if you cried on chapter sixteen (Godric's Hollow)? *raises hand slowly* At first I thought, no, I'll never cry from just a BOOK, but by the end of the chapter I was just bawling!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK...IT WAS AWESOME.... IM STILL TRYIN TO GET OVER THE FACT THAT IT IS OVER AND THERE AREN'T ANYMORE :-) I KEEP READING THE ENDING OVER AND OVER TRYING TO GET IT THROUGH MY HEAD THAT THE HARRY POTTER BOOK MANIA IS OVER...LEAST WE STILL HAVE TWO MORE MOVIES!!! Every one is entitled to their opinion, but everyone is also entitled to having that opinion without being insulted. On another board I was on someone was saying that JKR can't be expected to please everyone. My response to that is No she can't, but at the same time everyone can not expect to be pleased. There have been things about each book that I have loved or hated but here I am at the end with all of you. I do not insult people for not liking things I do, or for liking things I don't. In all I did enjoy the book and I was born on 2/5/1980 which would make me low and behold not a 12 year old. And seeing as I have had the love of my life, father of my son die I think that I have a bit of a clue on how to deal with death. You will notice that I have just managed to state my opinion without insulting anyone, wow what a concept. I have never been under any delusion that JKR was writing these books for me alone, these are her ideas, her dreams she has the right to end it anyway that she so chooses. And no she can't please everyone with everything she does, she is after all still a human.

Posted by hp_is_knifty Jul 23rd 2007

wow shocker.lol.i luved the buk definitly the best in the series. not surprised abt the snape lily thing. i always thot he had a thing for her. its cute how muuch he luved her and i knew ther was more to why dumbledore trusted him other than snape saying sorry! the ending was seriously amazing tho!!!!!

Posted by pmerrill6565 Jul 23rd 2007

SHAN1979 -- Harry became the true master of the Elder wand when he took Draco's wand by force, even though Draco didn't actually posses the Elder wand he was the rightful master because he is the one that took it from DD on the tower.

Posted by aevans Jul 23rd 2007

MichSeth: i think the ending was more of harry finding peace and calmness in his heart after all he had been through.... i was really prepared for harry to die(esp it seems that jo was preparing us for such an ending in the earlier interviews) but i was really glad he didnt... death is never the hard part..living is( or like dumbledore said, "Do not pity the dead. Pity the living") and it is true... how do you live on with the scars, the emptiness... that the people you love are not ard anymore? and it was nice to see him live and find that stillness in his heart... i am sure you will agree... if harryn had die... he may never be a love, a father but it would have been an easier way out for him at the moment ... Death is never the hard part..living and continuing to love is... at least that is what i feel... dont you think so?

Posted by IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS Jul 23rd 2007

How is it possible that I predicted many facts about the book before it even came out? WHO EVER LIKES THE BOOK IS A DEATH-EATER!

Posted by MPPMarauderGirl Jul 23rd 2007

Mich: This book is a fantasy book. YES we have to accept the death as a part of life - it is important in life and it was important in book 7 for people to understand death and war. But what Harry Potter is ISN'T REAL. It's NOT LIFE. Yes, it's not going to be a fairy-tale, but it also isn't going to end with the destruction of every character. What JKR does show, through Harry, is that you can have pain and loss and dispair in your life and YOU CAN OVERCOME IT! You can still be happy and find LOVE. It's a hope that burns inside Harry and JKR wants that to carry to every reader, whether they've experience loss or not.

Posted by AcidPops33 Jul 23rd 2007

priori_7 - Thank you so much. It all makes perfect sense now! :)

Posted by miraine Jul 23rd 2007

MichSet: And the book isn't perfect! The book has stressed that the world isn't perfect. Parents die right after they have a baby, one more orphan into the world; twins that are like one entity are split in half through war; god, how much more unperfect do you want Harry Potter to be?! It's very realistic. And I'm sorry for your losses and all, but children don't need to understand the world to an extent that the main character has to die.

Posted by Josi Jul 23rd 2007

everyone calm down, THE BOOK SUCKS, being a fan I feel she rushed it, Yes people die in war! Snape should have died a hero's death, personaly he should have lived to a be the ripe age of 100+, Neville and Luna have a Family and Harry and Ginny rebuild his family home, Snape like I said is the head master and in the end need sto have Lily forgive him, he is haunted with the love he had for her and they way it ended between them... and for the love of GOD WHAT IS IT WITH THE BLOOD AND WERE WAS HIS BODY IN THE END IF HE DIED!!!

Posted by mlc872 Jul 23rd 2007

aevans-perfectly said. The epilogue was to show Harry's peace I believe and that he finally has a normal life.

Posted by IHATEDEATHLYHALLOWS Jul 23rd 2007

Josi, you are not a DEATH-EATER. because you're intelligent! EVERYONE ELSE, DEATH EATERS!!!!!!!

The book was terrible. Loopholes everywhere. Get it rewritten ASAP. Character development was terrible. Storyline was a massacre. Bad guys were so clumsy it was unbelievable. How sad it all had to end this way...or does it?? Get the book rewritten people!! It just conveyed how immature the author was with what she had already written. Can't wait till the forums are back up again to debate this topic.

ihatedeatlhyhallows- i dont know... your original points were fabulousbut i tihnk you're going a little off task and you might be a little young for this site. i also hated the deathly hallows but calling peopel death eaters is really harsh. You are hilarious and your posts are true but these people dont react to cursing in such a manner, and yes this is why you're hot.

Posted by wotchermuggle Jul 23rd 2007

WHY THE DEATHLY HALLOWS ARE IMPORTANT: When Voldemort tries to kill Harry, Harry already possesses the 3 hallows, so isn't he the defeater of death by having all three? Wasn't that the purpose of DD trying to find them all? Isn't that how Harry survived Voldemort? Yes Voldemort killed the part of himself in harry but wasn't that because Harry couldn't be touched because of having the 3 Hallows? Thoughts appreciated! victory_m agic07....TED TONKS AND HIS SCHOOLING: Do we know that Ted didn't go to Hogwarts? I know nothing of this at all, I don't think it was mentioned? It must not be important information then? HORCRUXES AND VOLDEMORT: I don't think Voldemort was a horcrux. All this time it's been the shredded Voldemort gaining strength, and gaining his fully body back through the spells and blood of Harry (bone of V. father too) at the grave in GOF. HE WAS NOT A HORCRUX HIMSELF.
