Omg! The best book ever! i sobbed for the lst like 5 chapters and completly lost it for the next 3 hours. i absoultly LOVED the epilogue! Neville! herbology teacher! that was the BEST! and litte james, albus and lily (poor ginny didnt really get a voice in naming the kids it seems) but thats ok! and rosie and hugo, omg they were cute (i can just imagine ron begging hermione to cal him hugo lol) and ya, everyone seems pretty sure victoire was bill and fleur cuz they said "our cousin" (ron and ginny's neice, their kids' cousin, makes sence) i want so many questions answered! like what were the trio's + ginny's jobs? and harry parents jobs? and who did magic later in life? i loved it when percy came back! and the whole snape thing!! thats was amazing! i bawled again when harry called him the bravest man he knew, cuz he really was. omg the best book ever!! i think were all a little disapointed with the unanswered questions but, then again, there jobs arnt that important. we just read into some things too much. although the excessive fandom was fun.. lol. yay my favorite book ever!heehee
I thought the final battle scene was amazing, especially when Mrs. Weasley screamed NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU girl! I am so glad we finally learned the truth about Snape's loyalty, even if a lot of other questions were left unanswered. On the other hand, I thought the epilogue was cheesy. I mean, we knew that Ron & Hermione and Harry & Ginny would get together if they survived. I wanted to know their occupations, and the fates of the other characters. (What happened to George without Fred? Who became Headmaster? Who is Scorpius' mother?) I was proud of myself for not crying over Dobby or Lupin, but I completely lost it when Fred died. If he had to go, couldn't it have been with his twin? Killing Fred was brutal and completely unnecessary.
amazing!! JK is just so clever in the way she gets things through to the reader. alot of you are saying you should have been told more about what happened next - but really, can't you work it out?? Thanks, Jo!!!
I found it amazing. A tad disappointed in the epilogue, but it isn't that important. I cried a lot, and just ... wow. Wow.
I loved the book. It was a real roller coaster ride. I would cry, laugh, then clap my hand over my mouth in surprise/shock during the book. I'm sure I was a sight to watch reading. Yes there were some open questions like, what does the trio do later, where do they live, is James' middle Sirius, etc? But Jo did say she would probably write an encyclopedia to cover all the characters and things that she couldn't get in the book. Hopefully the question of what did Harry's parents do for a living, who the next headmaster is Hogwarts is, & what happened to Luna will be covered in that. I'll just have to hope for it sooner than later. I can really see how Jo could decide to write more books of adventures at Hogwarts, but yes the story focused on Harry is over. Maybe she will end up writing more about this world. I thought it was one of the best books yet.
I don't know about you guys, but I think this just might be the MuggleNet news post whose comments make it past 1000.
dobby 101 kinda true severus from the beginning didn't like muggles my mom thinks its because he hated his father though but still he called other people mudbloods
I want to known how it is possible that Teddy (Remus and Tonks's kid) was still going to Hogwarts even though he was nineteen. During their seventh year they are seventeen and maybe eighteen not nineteen. The epilogue was Nineteen Years later and Teddy was born before the end of the book. Also, It really bothered my that Harry and Ginny's three kids were all named after important people (Snape, Dumbledore, James, and Lily) but Hermione and Ron's two kids are named Hugo and Rose, where did those names come from. I was hoping for something like Sirius, Lupin, Alastor, Dobby, Collin, or even Fred, not Hugo or Rose. Other than those two things, I really loved the book, but I would have to say the fifth is still my favorite. Hope Jo writes an encycolpedia to explain all the unanswered questions!
THIS QUESTION WAS ON MUGGLECAST #101: WHO DO YOU HAVE RESPECT MORE FOR? SNAPE OR DUMBLEDORE? for me this is very hard because now that we know who snape REALLY is, i would say snape is up level with dumbledore. Snape 's story really made me cry my eyes out. He was there looking after Harry. And he died without even trying to proove to others. it is just so sad. But why he is "the bravest person harry has known". Well, all along Snape followed what Dumbledore told him, for Harry's good, never thinking for self gain or what people saw of him. Even after Dumbledore died he carried out whatever Dumbledore had told him. all just for Lily, someone he loved. And then her son. he seems to have gone to care for harry. Even in the pensieve when dumbledore tells him harry has to die , he seems really care about him. he is- dumbledore mans through and through!!!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! So many wonderful things happened. Some of my favorite scenes were with Kreacher and Dobby (HERO!...I love you Dobby) Kreacher made such a turn around and all this time he just wanted kindness...to be acknowledged. Dobby was such a brave little elf in this book, his death was gut-wrenching! I cried for so long after he said, "Harry...Potter" I loved how Snape turned out. It was amazing to finally see him in a somewhat peaceful and loving state...looking into Harry's eyes (Lily's) as he died. He truly loved Lily and I think, even though it did not show throughout the books, he loved Harry. Neville was an amazing character in this book...he was so brave and just took complete control. I'm glad that JK let him have a part in Voldemort's death. I loved the moment when the house-elves all came out to fight! *sniff* And how Ron and Hermione finally kissed...Ron FINALLY showed real sympathy and care for the house-elves and I think this really opened Hermione up to how great Ron truly is. I love the chapter towards the end where Dumbledore and Harry are just talking...how it's so peaceful there. Kind of like Heaven. I LOVE that Harry comes back...well he was never dead, but I just love how it was written. THANK YOU JK Rowling....Thank you for changing my life with these characters who I love so much. Thank you for a wonderful final book!! I love you HEDWIG!!!!
Jo's AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!! i luv the book soooo much cried like a baby too! What cames first the phoenix or the flames? A circle has no beginning. see why she is soo amazing coming up with this world and many other little things in it!
I have had about 24 hours to think about the story now that I have finished the book and am ready for the re-read! I found the backstory of Dumbledore completely unexpected and unexpectedly critical. I was also happily pleased at Luna's role - much larger than I had anticipated and always a bright spot. However, I was completely devastated about Dobby and Lupin and Tonks, cried so hard I had to quick reading for about 1/2 an hour; and the deathly hallows, I tear up when I think of the resurrection stone. Of course, in the three brothers it was the brother with the cloak who lived to a ripe old age! Turns out Trelawney was right again! Loved it all, even the brutal camping with starving whiners. OK JKR, what's next?
I really liked this book with all of its odd comic relief and interesting plot. Some of the inconcistencies were kind of annoying though, but I really liked the new characters and Dumbldore's everything. This is probably my third favorite after GoF and CoS.
Did you notice that in sacrificing himself for his friends Harry repeated the spell his mother did on her death. The circle closed, again. Well done, JoRowling.
i have few questions, could someone please answer: 1) If Voldermot would have ever tried to kill Harry before, would he have failed because of that protection? Meaning the only reason that Harry survived was because his mothers protection was in his blood and Voldermots, so as long as Voldermot is living Harry can't die, so he would of never been able to kill him, right? Then why did Harry have to choice to die or not? 2)Also why did the Crucio curse not work on him after he came back to life? 3) At the end, why did Voldermot curse not work on Harry in the final battle? Was it because Harry had his mothers protection and it wasnt possible to kill him or because the everlasting wand really belonged to Harry so it couldnt be used against him? In the case that the wand really belonged to Harry, why was that? He overpowered the regular wand from Draco not the everlasting wand, why would both belong to him then? If someone could please answer these questions, I'd really appreciate it, thanks!!
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEND TO LUNA IN THE FUTURE! Also, things I didn't like: Snape died (I felt sorry for him after all the memory stuff), DOBBY DIED WHICH BROKE ME DOWN! Only, one major baddie died and that was Voldy. TT__TT
OMG best book ever. tho ididnt like when harry was "dead" and cam e back to life that was stupid.
I LOVED IT!!!! I thought it was amazingg... I didn't even think the epilouge was that bad. There were a lot of things you actually had to think about before you understood it. That's J.K. Rowling's style though... Oh, well. I still thought it was good. :) :) amazing actually.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!NO FREAKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! It made me really sad..... But i loved the book soo much, i can't believe that snape really was good..
Everything was great except for the fact that Rowling didn't really dramaticize the deaths of the important characters. I understand that we don't want to see more pain and grief in Harry's life, but I felt as if she did not emphasize their deaths. Their characters were way more important then the minimal way that they died. I thought that kind of lessened the importance of the characters in the first place. I also highly disliked the epilogue. First of all, there shouldn't of even been an epilogue. Nineteen Years Later? That's way too far off and it would of been better just left the way it was except describing what happens to each of the characters as their journey in Hogwarts and their fight against Voldemort comes to an end. Overall though, I thought the story was strong, although predictable. This is my favorite book of the 7, and I am extremely sad to say goodbye to Harry.
Deathly Hallows was amazing! I loved every second of it. My favrotie part were the relationships. I loved it when Harry and Ginny kissed, and how "she kissed him like she never kissed him before." And, when Ron and Hermione, their first kiss EVER! It was perfect. It reminded me of the kiss in "The Notebook" between Allie and Noah. It was like...the best! Also, in the epilouge, when you saw the future, I really hoped to see more of it, but it was still very perfect =) Also, I thought that Luna and Dean might have got together, maybe it's quite weird, but I thought they would make a cute couple... they just seemed to spend a lot of time around eachother while they were at Bill and Fleurs. The deaths were sad, but still, I think some people just needed to die to show the intensity of the war. LONG LIVE FRED WEASLEY! 'Ear, 'ear!
Brilliant! An emotional rollercoaster, but well worth the wait. This is my favorite of the series, and what a way to end the series! Thank you, JKR!!!!!! Too fabulous for words.
LOVED the book! I was shocked and saddened at some of the deaths. Thought that the epilogue was a little too empty - I would have liked to know more about what happened to the Malfoys in the years following the war. I'm assuming that McGonagall is headmaster at Hogwarts? I also like how things came full circle back to Voldemort and his demise. When he tried to kill Harry as a baby, the love of a mother for her child shielded Harry and spared Harry's life and turned Voldy into the phantom that he was. In the end, Narcissa's love for Draco set the stage for Harry to humiliate and kill Voldemort. Brilliant! I also how she made Neville out to be such a hero after he had such a rocky start at Hogwarts!
i thought i was awesome. the plot twists kept coming and coming. i just happy none of the trio or ginny died. i left seeing that dumbledore was kind of weird..... i think aberforth was much more awesome than albus. for a minute i thought harry was really dead, then i kept reading and was happy to see him alive.
I LOVED the book, but the epilogue was a let down. I wanted more information on people like Luna and what do Ron and Harry do for jobs etc. How is George w/out Fred. Also questions we were promised answers but didn't get. Like what Dudley saw when the Dementors attacked him and what really is the Veil and the voices etc. But it was great overall. Long Live HP RIP Fred, Tonks, and Lupin.
i would have loved the book if it was the second last book but as the last book ..it falls short of my expectations...too many loose ends... not a very exciting finish and after all the fantastic nail biting ends of goblet of fire and ootp and the super emotional end of HBP, voldemort dying in like 5 lines is just not fathomable ..all in all ..a huge disappointment!!! the death of only dobby made me emotional even though ive always loved Fred but there was like zero role given to fred and george in this book ... and wat was the epilogue ???? gosh !!!! tell us more abt the ppl we love not their offsprings!!!i wannna know who minister of magic is and where is luna and george and "hagger"..i dont wanna know abt albus severus and james and rose. blah !! so disappointing !!!
I really enjoyed the book, I thought from the first chapter the book was intense. There were deaths that didn't need to happen though.. why did Lupin AND Tonks have to die, and what was the point of killing Colin Creevy??? The epilogue was a disappointment, I was expecting it to be longer and describe what happened to everyone.. there are so many unanswered questions.. what did harry end up doing as a job?? is he an auror or what? did he even go back to school?
book was ok, it could have been twice as long though. didnt like harry ron and hermione spending months doing nothing but moan in a tent. the battle for hogwarts was good. wish the perspective was more on it than harry for parts so we could have been outside on the front line as it began. last chapter was a disappointment, wanted to find out about the others like who became the new headmaster, what harry and the rest work as etc. would love rowling to write a short book tieng things up, like another comic relief book. she could write it as a daily prophet article looking back on the events. all in all, good job rowling
:'[ dobby and fred dying hit me the hardest i think . . i didn't expect those two to die . . especially fred , i was sooo shocked. Awesome book though!! i loved the whole deathly hallows storyline, but i think he found the diadem a little bit toooooo easy . . . meh was still awesome =]] i was happy with the epilogue and when Harry said "Albus Severus" my eyes filled with tears :} well done JKR :]
It was amazing and sad at the same time. There were moments where I just bawled and others were I was so numb that i could only blink. I was so sad that Fred died that I could not cry, as well with Hedwig. There were a lot of loose ends that were cleared up and yet i feel more needs to be ended. Its my favorite book, but i need to reread it because there was so much info and with very little sleep thats bad. It tops poa and hbp and I'm glad the trio and ginny lived.
Excellent book, all i really missed was an explanation of some of the things in the Department of Mysteries (like the Veil) and the epilogue was kind of disappointing. I wanted to hear about the rest of the characters. I also cried pretty hard when Fred died. All in all, awesome book!
the thing about somebody doing magic later in life, why couldn't it be Ron speaking Parseltongue?
holy frickin crud! wow! I thought this was the best book in the series. I was suprised that jk rowling didnt say what was behind the veil. Nobody asked anyone at the ministry of magic what was behind it... I guess I was just hoping that sirius was alive.... somehow.... some way... When harry was finished looking in snapes memories and looked at his watch, seeing he only had half an hour left to face voldemort, my ipod speakers decided to go funky and started spitting out 30 minutes by tatu... strange quinky dink...
yea definitely awesome, best one yet. but there should've been more in the epilogue like where they lived and stuff but, what'ya gonna do? i thought teddy would've been living with harry, and maybe they live in Godric's Hollow? all and all tho, so awesome
What a great way to wrap it all up. Very in your face right from the get-go. I think its my favorite of the series, with all the action and the Battle of Hogwarts. Personally I am tired of all the complaints from readers how J.K. Rowling didn't explain every little thing in the epilogue. Sure, it would have been nice to know as much as possible, but she doesn't owe us anything...just think if she never decided to write this great series!
I cried that's all there is to say I cried I dont want the series to end I don't want to believe that Harry isn't going to be running around Hogwarts anymore and just being funny. The epilogue was not what I had expected She left a lot of things unanswered But perhaps she purposely left it like that so the fanfiction writers could fill in the blank spaced But I love Harry Potter
It was good but not my favorite. I guess I might of read it too fast but after waiting ten years and 18 hours in line for that book you would have high expectations. My least favorite thing in this book would have to be Albus Severus Potter because that name dosent sound right at all. I understand the need to have their memory live on but naming your kid some thing so dreadfully old fashioned is something I dont like. Im not Jo though and I think she has a thing for really old names. There were two deaths that I thought didnt need to happen: Dobby and Hedwig. They were not really holding Harry back from anything. The book made me laugh a lot because of all the debating about horocruxs between the trio mirrors what the fans have been doing for years. Same with a lot of the one liners that were scattered about the book. My most favorite one liner is when Gred and Forge take the pj potion. Now I must be off because my old friend tom owes me 50 bucks because I was right about snape, harry, dumbledore,an d voldemort...^_^
I was right about basically every thing except Harry Ginny but the Hallows was an interesting twist. But Dobby died and with 100 to 1 odds. :(
the book, like all harry potter's was amazing, i really loved it especially the last 3 or more chapters, the epilogue was somewhat disappointing n if teddy wasnt living with harry who was his godfather, who was he living with? i think deathly hallows is a great ending to what is in my opinion the greatest literary works of our time (though i could be wrong i'm only 14) it feels weird not to have another potter book to look forward to but overall it was great, i still have unanwsered questions tho
AMAZING, the best in the series
SOOOOOO GREAT! I still can't believe it's over...I mean, this can't be the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really wish she could publish her notes or something like that... and emmerson! I vote you get an interview with her and ask her about all her unanswered questions!
It was really sad though I loved the book, I really did. I still can´t believe that she was so cruel and killed both Lupin and Tonks when they just had got a child, if she had let them live I would be almost 100% happy with the book. But I´m still a bit disappointed that the book didn´t answer all the questions. I was absolutely certain that the veil would be important, but she hardly mentioned it at all, so I´m still curious to death to know more about the veil and the Department of Mysteries. Awesome book though, simply awesome... cried my eyes out during the last chapters, still don´t know whether I will ever feel happy again, Saturday was the day of my life and now I´m just feeling empty inside.
I thought the book was absolutely amazing, it is now my favorite... however i do agree with everyone else... the ending was terrible. after voldemort died... harry just walked away to tell dumbledore he wasn't keeping the wand? no hey guys we did it! no high spirits, no thanks, no hugs, no signs of relief or triumph or love between the 3 bestfriends.. there was a lot of affection in the book i thought, but i think after voldemort was killed there should have been a lot more affection showed throughout the characters, the weasleys and harry.. hermione and ron, only 1 kiss?! cmon, RH shippers waited YEARS for 1 kiss? the epilouge only gave hermione like 1 line and she sounded bitter... didn't like that at all. the rest of the book was amazing though.
THAT WAS AMAZING!!! I completely agree with Jo when she says that this is her favourite book. Hell, my favourite book in the world!!! I love it! Amazing! MUGGLECASTERS: THIS IS ROXANNE, 14 FROM SARNIA, ONTARIO CANADA AND I WAS THE ONE WHO SUBMITTED THE RAVENCLAW TIARA THEORY!!! SURE, IT WAS A DIADEM, BUT I WASN'T FAR OFF, WAS I?! BURN! Sorry, I'm just overly proud of that right now... I love you all, Laura and Jamie especially:).
simply amazing. she did a great job on this book. i was happy to see Harry victorious in the end. She ended the book the way it should of been done. I was glad to see that Ginny and Harry were together, as were Ron and Hermione. I could not put the book down once i started reading when i got the book at midnight. awesome read. this is my favorite of the series
Totally awesome. Molly stole the book with her line, "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU girl!" I swear, I sat there laughing for 5 minutes straight. Also, Luna was amazing. And Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville's faces on her ceiling. Priceless. :] Snape!!!!!! I always knew he was trustworthy. Also. ALBUS SEVERUS. Enough said.
It was amazing. There are some unanswered questions but hopefully Jo will answer them! However, I am not doing so good today. Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Hedwig, Mad Eye Moody, Dobby, and sadly poor Colin. I had a terrible feeling and actually guessed right that some of them would die.
Just amazing. The best book by far. I couldn't put it down.
Loveispotterharry- To answer some of your questions; 1. Hmm...I think I need to reread I think I missed this part 2. Yes King's Cross is different for everyone. 3. I think that it was Ariana.. 4. They never said, but I would assume. 5. Harry said that he was going to put the Elder Want back where it belonged. I think that is back in one of the graves. The stone is in the Forest. And Harry kept the cloak. All the horcruxes were destroyed. 6. Yes, he was good. He loved Lily and did all he could to protect Harry. This was the significance of her eyes. 7. Hmm...that is a good one. I would assume the same. 8. Umm...
I thought it was an amazing book...although i still had a few questions after i was done. For example, I wished she could have explained the veil a little further, and all the voices that harry heard in ootp. Overall, it was an AMAZING book, and i will be reading it over again as soon as i get a chance. I cant believe its over!!
