best book yet! but we didnt find out half of what Jo told us we would! Was I the only one who found the epilouge cheesy? Otherwise, best book yet.
OK it was way good but did any one else realize that freakin Mrs Weasley killed somoene wow i love how she was like girl but also we never found out wat was behind the veil and also wat was the point of having bill get bitten like they mentioned 1 difference he like to eat his meat raw but that was it it was a little annoying
Absolutely loved it, especially Kreature leading the Hogwarts house elves into the battle! All of the deaths were so sad... especially Snape (after seeing all of the memories he gave Harry). Thought the trio living in a tent got boring, and the epilogue was a bit 'blah' but in all, an excellent way to end the series. It's so sad to know we'll never have another one to look forward to...
Absolutely loved it. Yeah, I have a question or two, but the woman couldn't anticipate everything, so I think people need to give her a break - she truly worked hard on this entire series and I don't have a single complaint (except that the epilogue was a tad bit cheesy). JKR is an awesome author and I couldn't be happier with the book!!
wow in the two seconds it took for me to click to make a comment, it went from no coments to over ten omments...lol so anyway. i thought this was a rather good book. although it seemed GREATLY reminiscent of a fanfiction, i don't know why, there were just so many things...like the sword im the lake and the idea of the flesh mark or whatever on the snitch, when it's never been mentioned before, not even in Quidditch Through The Ages...but it was never-the-less a very good book. i think that Lupin and Tonks were the two that died that weren't supposed to because they seemed so thrown in. Harry was the one who got the repreive, obviously, he literally died then came back. i wasn't so happy with the epilogue, it was a little too happy and perfect, ya know? i loved that mrs. weasley killed bellatrix, especially with her, um 'choice words' lol. i thought for sure hermione was sa goner in the malfoy manor chapter. i also found it hilarious that even though ron has managed to actually say a few romantic sounding things to her, she doesn't kiss him until he mentions evacuating house elves. like she's turned on by house elf safety or something lol.
I think that the eqilouge was a little open ended about what had happened to most of the other characters was because jkrowling is going to write more books...well hopefully....
one word: disappointed
It was diffinitely a good book. it's now my 2nd favorite book. however, i really was disappointed in the epilogue too. It didn't really tell us much. I'm glad that Harry and Ginny were together same with Ron and Hermione, but what about everyone else? I was also really upset with Lupin and Tonks. Why did both of them have to die? The book was great, but i was alittle disappointed at the end. I was determined to see Harry die....not that i wanted him too, but i was certain that he would die and give everyone this special ending about heroes or something. Oh well, great book! ^^
I liked it although I am very sad at Sev's death. He was one of my favorite characters and I'll miss him. *sniffles* I'm glad that many of the characters were redeemed and wish that the epilogue had been a bit more detailed. It was good and I'm glad that I was there for the end.
By far my favorite in the series. I absolutely loved it and I thought the epilogue was perfect as well. I couldn't be happier with the end of the series.
AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWSOME!!!!!!! I Love the book one moment i'm laughing then i'm crying my eyes out..... i'm still crying over Dobby and Snape they had it hard and died for the people they loved and that in any situations sucks
One thing I don't understand is how Dumbledore didn't seem to really care about Harry...or did I read that wrong? It looked like Snape cared more about Harry's safety than Dumbledore had.
woah, it was flippin amazing!!!!!!!!!! so intense and dark. but i loved it that way! i think i cried about 10 different times. neville rocked!!!! i love snape! soo many good things in this book. kept me on the edge of my seat every chapter, i never got bored. and the thing i loved most about it was that it was just SO different from the others in the series. jkr really rocked this one!!
The book was amazing, much more dark and "adult." The Battle at Hogwarts was AMAZING, as was most of the book. However, sucked; it was like poorly-written Fan Fiction. Who was the person who showed magic later in life? I feel there were so many things she promised she'd answer and didn't.
i loved it i absolutly loved it there were times when i cried so hard i had to stop reading but i loved it, maybe there'll be a more complete epilouge, if she writes an encyclopedia?? i don't like the 19 year gap, but all in all, no one will ever write a better series in my opinion, it was funny too, u know when people weren't dieing, AWESOME -DOBBY STILL RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
It's funny, I remember being dead-set AGAINST the whole, harry is a horcrux thing. But now that I've read how it was written and put in there, I love it. I thought the overall thing was great. it was most defindently the best one by far. The epilougue was different then I thought it would be. I hadn't expected it to be quite so fluffy, but i'm a softy for Happy endings. So, I loved it. Overall. It was absoultely AMAZING!
Mixed feelings . . . I think it would have been better received had she not promised answers to so many things that she then left out of the book. And the writing was inconsistent; she went back and forth between the childish tone of the first few books and the darker, more complex tone of the later books. It read like fanfic to me, but a really good fanfic. I like where she went with it, but it definitely wasn't my favorite of the series like I expected it to be. I didn't mind the epilogue as much as some, but I felt that the book as a whole made a lackluster ending. But do I regret buying it? Not a chance!
JKR wrote a fantastic ending to this wonderful series. She couldn't have done it better. The writing was great, and it made you realize that this is NOT just a Children's book, but really an adult book. I really really enjoyed this book. There were some tears, I admit, but I really really was happy with the way it turned out. Fantastic!
I thought it was a fantastic end to an amazing series. I enjoyed finding out whether all my predictions had been right or wrong. I thought the epilogue was okay but I would really like to know more, like what everyone did for a living, and perhaps how the new ministry was treating muggleborns, goblins, and elves.
Wow, top 25? That's a first. Anyway, I think this is the best book in the series, probably my favorite book of the year. It was so much more mature, and, being 18 and having read the books for at least 8 years, I love the fact that I've grown up with the Trio and was part of the HP experience. I was terrified opening the book, afraid of what would happen, and upon closing it, I cried and cried and I still can't really believe it's done. CNN calls the time after 7/21 AH: the After-Harry era! As I keep thinking back on the book, important details just pop out (Snape's last words, Dumbledore's portrait) and really make me realize how deep these words, albeit fiction, can touch millions of people. I know one day, my children will read these books, and although they might not fully understand it, I'm sure they'll enjoy it, because, let's face it: These books are relatable, timeless, immortal.
I thought it was fantastic. I loved the non-stop action. And Kreacher leading the house elves into battle. I'm glad that Neville finally made his grandmother proud, he's such an incredible character. And Mrs. Weasley taking on Bellatrix Lestrange? Best duel bar none.
i wanted teddy to live with Harry. wait i dont remember reading about victoire at all? i need to go back now!!! TED TONKS was the one to do magic late in life. he was a muggle remember? then he told harry he had healed his leg, foot, arm--whatever.
What an amazing book! I couldn't put it down. It was so different from all the other books, which was annoying me in the begining, but i got over that quickly. I really thought that the epilouge was a waste, it wasn't nessacary at all. It was an all around amazing book, and it's sooo heartbreaking thats it over. Although I think that anyone could continue the story (including JKR) because the main charcters are all still alive. Maybe JKR doesn't WANT to write moe books, but the option is defiantly open for other authors.
It is AH-MAZING! My favorite book! Though i am mourning the deaths I am very ecstatic about the ending! The Epilouge was a bit odd but all in all i LURVED it!
Brilliant! My favourite book...but the epilogue was abit dissapointing....
I'm honestly a little disappointed. There were far too many unanswered questions. It makes me feel a little like there were plot points left open in previous books which Rowling had no intention of closing up--just to generate speculation and to sell books. I feel a little taken advantage of!
All around, I truly enjoyed it. Jo did it very well, as we all expected she would. Certain things were disappointing, such as the unanswered questions and holes left unfilled that other people have mentioned. Also, out of all people who could have died, WHY Fred, seriously!? Extremely depressing, same thing with Dobby. Oh, and although I did expect more information from the epilogue, I actually now think it was the only way the book really could have been ended...really nice.
I thought the book was fabulous, probably my favorite by far. It's true that we didn't find out about a a lot of stuff, but i believe Jo had her reasons for not giving us information about everything. I absolutely loved the ending sequence when Harry and Voldemort were dueling, probably my favorite scene out of all seven books combined. I still am not quite sure what to think about epilouge, but i think the ending was very satisfying. I am not quite that shocked that all three of mugglenet's theories were proven right. They are the biggest fan site in the WORLD! :D
It was the most amazing story I have ever read in my entire life. I have never read a book that evoked so many emotions from me before. I cried through the last 100 pages. And the epilogue was so sweet and perfect, it made me cry some more. For those of you confused, Ron was the one who did magic late in life. He was able to speak parseltongue late in life. That's a really rare ability that wizards thought you had to be born with.
OMG!!! that book was so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! yet so sad :( i cried so hard throughout the book, and was bawling when i was finished. it was so good that it made me feel like i was watching a movie instead of reading a book. what really got me was fred dying. you know george would never be right after that :( but i still LOVED it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed it. Most of it was expected, I guess. I loved when Molly Weasley killed Bellatrix and I was so sad about Dobby's and Snape's death. I know... the rest of the deaths were sad too. Althought the Epilogue didn't nothing that really interested me... I still don't understand what happens with the veil in the ministry. ¿?
Zomagosh there was so much death. Fred! Anyone but Fred! and DOBBY! I enjoyed learning about Dumbledore's past and when I read him and Grindelwald were buddies I thought i'd read it wrong. I loved Luna and I also loved Hermione and Ron finally having that kiss ;) although Ron annoyed me a bit in the middle when he went off on one. He redeemed himself tho. Xenophilius Lovegood! I wish i lived with the Lovegoods. I loved the child being called Albus Severus in the epilogue. Good old Snapey. Oh and did we find out what Dudley saw when he faced the dementor? Coze i didnt spot it.
Not my favorite book. It comes in second place, but it was awesome. ALso, very cool to see some of my predictions come true.
Best book of the series, but the epilogue was really bad. It didn't say anything new. I was hoping for a little more details about more of the characters and about Hogwarts. The book was brilliant though, she should have just added more to the epilogie.

polkadotted --- i agree with you, i didnt liek the epilogue i wanted it to be abit more longer. and true there weren't alot of questions answered. Overall i absolutly love the book. My order 1.7th, 2. 5th, 6th, 4th (i cant choose??) 3. 3rd 4. 1st 5. 2nd
loved it... stayed up for 12 hours straight til i finished it. best of the series. i definitely have some questions left, but without a doubt amazing!!! i just wish my friends would read faster so i have someone to discuss it with!!
It was Awesome but it does make me kind of sad that it's the last one I found out a lot of things but I still got some questions that I would liked answered but Overall it was a really great written book.
One word: wow. It was such a great book. Perfect way to end the series, although I do agree there were some gaping plot holes. And the poor people who died! RIP Hedwig/Dobby/Fred/Lupin/T onks. Those hit me hard. The epilogue left so much unanswered! Oh and quick question: Are Voldemort and Harry related?! Cuz if Voldemort is a descendant of the Gaunts, who claim to be descended from the Peverells, and Harry is a descendant of the last of the Three Brothers (Ignotus Peverell), then that means they are distantly related!
WOW!!! I think my friends hated me because first i'm a really fast reader so i finished before everyone...and i was always ahead of them in the book so like they would be reading one thing where there is little action and i would be like " OMGOSH!!!! " sort of thing. I was number 10 at the book store so i grabbed my copies ( 3 for my friends 1 for me so we wouldn't have to wait forever!!! ) and like ran out of there to avoid spoilers and people were staring at me but some we're clapping... it was really fun!!!! I loved the book... i rank them 7,5,4,6,3,1,2... I 'm rereading it now though... I was sad that some characters died... DOBBY!!!!!! but other then that i understand why those characters had to die. Unlike most people i really liked the epilogue. It told you just enough to solve the big mysteries but it left you to imagine what everyone else ends up doing. Which personally i thought was great!!! I'm sure JKR will answer more questions on her website and what not... so yup those are my thoughts in a nutshell!!!! ! still a potter fan !
AMAZING!!!! Dobby and Snape :(. But ending was a bit vague. Hogwarts scene was so cool!!! Wish it could have lasted longer, especially when the house elves join in
okay, so it could have been better- but was ok. It was def by far not the best of jk's writing. It really did seem rushed. It seemed to start out very intense from the beginning, but the intensity never loosened up. The period when Ron left seemed very tedious and almost made me want to stop reading. Also, a lot of the hallows/ horcruxes stuff was confusing. Still, a lot of questions are unanswered. ex: why did the weasley's have 7 kids and what was Ginny's significance. I was really hoping for some kind "why "#7" " explanation. "7" has been used for everything- from school years, to kids, to possible horcruxes (even though there were 8), etc. I also wished Ginny could have been with them (the trio) more. For a lot of the book, it was just the trio- so I wished it had included a lot of the characters throughout the book besides just the battle scene. (which I thought was great). I only cried a little when Dobby died and when Harry knew he had to "die". Other than that, I think there was SOO much death, it just wasn't sad anymore. I cried when Cedric, Sirius (we didn't get a good explanation of that at all :( ), and when Dumbledore died. But I just didn't get the same effect with DH. At first the I thought epilogue was ok, but then I realized that she left a LOT of the characters out. What did/do they do with the rest of their lives..? ***What do you guys think about HARRY being the one to do magic in "later" life??*** So far no one has come up with this. Since he technically did do magic in "later" life. JK never specified that it had to be a squib, so what do you think.*** I really hope JK answers our questions soon either with a charity book or on her website- because there is still SO much left open and unended.....
what was the deal with Lupin in this book? he seemed really different in some parts like with him and harry,it just made me wonder what the point was in that....
I loved the book! The epilogue wasn't my favorite, I found it VERY vague. I wanted to hear more about people. Where was Luna? What were everyone's occupations? What else happened to Neville besides being the Herbology teacher?
oh man its over! =[ i am so sad that i cant ever go on a new adventure with harry and the trio again.... i loved the book until the epiloge then i got all sad and depressed by far my favorite part was mrs.weasley's "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU girl!"
I really loved it! It was so sad though! All of the deaths and injuries- I cried so much! The epilogue was a nice ending to it. Getting to see what their kid's names were, and seeing Draco and his son. It was awesome Harry got to see Dumbledore and Neville was a real hero!!! I thought the epilogue was actually good. She let out enough information to let us know everything was good, but there is still a mystery to it. It was just wonderful!!!!!! There is one thing that confused me (and a lot have already pointed it out too) Who did magic later in life?
amazing battle, amazing book, crappy epilogue. best book ever
i thought this was an amazing book. even though some of the theories and rumors running around were true (ex. snape loving lily and such) you still had NO idea it was coming, and when it did it was still amazing how she brought it all together. i had trouble with the epilogue - i agree, it's hard to put boy harry in an old person's body, and i would have rather heard about him and ginny just getting married, and ron and hermione, and what happened to everyone. i could have enjoyed just a list of what happened to every character. but i think if i read it enough, and if it satisfied jo, then i'm happy. a couple little questions or little details remain unknown that i'm sure she'd answer if they were overlooked or something. i really really hope she eventually makes an option for questions that she can answer! keep in touch, jo! congratulations, you did it!!! -Kirsten
in five words: perfect, love, beautiful, emotional and everlasting.
WHY WAS THE BOOK ONLY 759 PAGES I THOUGHT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 784 I WANT THOSE 25 PAGES!!!!!
