I thought this book was FANTASTIC!!! It was SOOO AMAZING!! Sometimes it was HORRIFYING... actually, the majority of the book was horrifying. I cried so much, I screamed, I gasped, I clutched at my heart, It was like I entered a pensieve, I was so deeply mezmorized by this book. The Epilogue.... I kinda hated it... except little Albus, he was ADORABLE.. he's gonna be just like his Daddy. The book on the whole... AMAZING!!!! Poor Severus... he was really a GREAT MAN afterall. Who is Victorie? what happened to the Weasley family and Hermionie's parents... who is Headmaster at Hogwarts? Who was Victorie?, who did the magic later in life? Too many questions, but it was the most amazing literary experience of my life. 'ear 'ear JK, and Thank You. ♥
well, tryig to answer a question bellow,i guess that the person who use magic later in life is ariana, dumbledore's sister.she was said to be a squib, but later is told that she managed magic wihout having control..and that she killed her mother by accdident for that..just a guess
wow! i dont even know where to start. I'm so completely overwhelmed. I've followed Harry Potter since I was in the 3rd grade, and now that I'm in high school and it's finally over, I don't know how I feel. I'm sad of course that it's over, but also strangely exhilerated. I was incredibly pleased with the ending...and loved every part of the story. It was amazing how she wrapped everything up. I am also glad that in the end good concured evil, which is the way it's supposed to be. I loved the epilogue. It was extremely sweet to see them all still friends and have their own families now. I especially loved where harry told albus (his son) that severus snape was the bravest man he knew, oh I just wanted to cry!! haha. So over all, I was and am in awe of the books and even though I can't believe it's over I feel like it was time and that there wasn't a better way for everything to turn out. I also want to say thanks to mugglenet for keeping this great site! I have been with you all for soooo long and intend to keep visiting the site!
I haven't gone through all 600+ comments yet, but overall I thought the book was wonderful. Didn't like the epilogue. It was very cheesy and very "and they lived happily ever after." I made a few connections during my reading. Very LOTR-ish: their "quest" for the Horcruxes and going from forest to forest. The Elder wand and it being passed down to those that were defeated. The Deluminator being like the Light of Elendil. The Muggle Registration: Nazi Germany The Tale of the Three Brothers: The parable of the three brothers from the Bible and/or the Three Billy Goats Gruff. I was surprised she killed off a Weasley and sobbed when I learned it was Fred. I bawled for Dobby and when Harry visited his parent's grave in Godric's Hollow. Anyone catch the battle scene where it says that Percy and Fred were battling Horace Slughorn who was still in his Emerald Pajamas and then a paragraph down it says that Slughorn was battling alongside Flitwick and Sprout (I think). I had to read about three times before I just gave up and went on.
The book was amazing. I would have preferred no Epilogue and I didn't see where the spouses of teachers came in. But despite those few things the book was awesome. Oh, and the US cover did not depict the Great Hall as I would have thought it was.
Amazing. However, there are still questions that need to be answered. But overall the book is so far the best in the series. I would like to know what happened tto the characters in more details. i.e. Who is the new Hogwarts Headmaster? Where did Harry live after killing Voldemort? Are people still afraid of saying voldemort's name? and sooooooooooo many other questions.
Am I wrong or did she write the Epilogue years ago? I seem to recall reading somewhere that it was actually one of the first things she wrote, kind of as her bookend and filled in the middle, that sort of thing.
time to get sappy: (green days, time of your life) Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go. So make the best of this test and don't ask why. It's not a question but a lesson learned in time. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. So take the photographs and still frames in your mind. Hang it on a shelf In good health and good time. Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial. For what it's worth, it was worth all the while. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. (music break) It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. just wanted to say thank you to JK for this amazing ride, and that after reading the epilogue, i dont think we've seen the last of the Boy Who Lived, or whatever they are calling him these days.
all is well except the epilogue she dint gave so many details on george, percy, luna etc., and i am craving to know about the muggle who done some magic i am amazed to see it missed out. i want more to know about the trio....after all it was heartbreaking to know that it is over well i am glad that i'm a part of it :)
this book was simply AMAZING!!!! like OMG! THE PERFECT ending!!! just PERFECT! i wish with all of my heart that she wil lget another stroke of inspiration and continue with the Trio's kids or something. Dobby dying was like the saddest part, and when Harry was entering the forest i felt so anxious myself that my heart started beating so fast and when i looked at the page count and how little was left i was like: "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG..." and then best line EVER: "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU girl!!!!" hahahaah yayy for Hogwarts and Harry Potter:)))) THANK YOU SO MUCH JKR! YOU ARE THE BEST!:) *tear*
a bit too predictable, and the invisibility cloak seemed a bit derived. and the epilogue ruined the ending. but it was still an excellent novel.
Uh... Wow. Yeah. It was so amazing. Really it was. Sad. I cried for a solid falh hour after finishing. All those deaths. I didn't feel they were entirely necessary. Colin Creevey? Come on! I did feel that there were quite a few unanswered questions though. Things that weren't quite addressed that I've been waiting for for a while. I really expected some sort of return to the Departments of Mysteries. The epilogue... I wasn't satisfied with it. It left way too much loose. Maybe it's just because I hate the idea of any of them growing up and having families but I could have lived without the epilogue. I cpuld go on for hours about the book but I won't...
We never had anyone who actually did magic later in life. That might have been cut out. However, Neville proved to be much more capable and powerful than he initially showed. I liked that JK had Neville killing the final horcrux, with the sword no doubt. It was fitting and it showed that Neville was as formidable an opponent as Harry. It was kind of sweet that Dudley was so afraid of what was out there that he was concerned for Harry, or at least for the protection they got because of Harry. I would have liked to known what happened to the Dursley's and Dean and Luna. Did it seem like Dean and Luna were getting a bit chummy at the end? I guess the nice thing is, if J.K. decides to write any more HP related stories, she could always start with what happens to everyone after the battle.
I found it to be a very good book. Certaintly one of J.K.'s best....even though she killed my favourite character of all time of any book I've ever read. (Lupin). I was very upset about that
I think the whole book was great! I don't have anything to complain about :D.
Loved the book hated the first three chapts.
Loved the book, but there are still gnawing questions. Dobby's death made me cry most... his and Fred's. But we still don't know what Harry's parents did for work, or who the late bloomer was. I thought it was kewl having Neville pull the sword out of the hat, with all his insecurities about being in Gryffindor, he proved he really is one. Kreacher coming around was also a nice touch, and I almost cried (almost) when Dudley was kind to Harry for the first time ever. I'm glad the trio survived, and I'm glad that Harry is able to have a normal life now. It would be nice to know what they're doing in their lives, though, beyond family. Looks like Draco will never change, but his mother... she seemed appreciative that her son was spared by Harry and his friends. I liked that she covered for him when he played dead. All in all, a good ending to a great series!
OMG this book was great! However, the ending disappointed me a little. the last line of the book was kinda dumb and the epilogue failed to explain wat happened to many characters! other than that , though, i really enjoyed it...it was the best one EVER!!!
AWESOME !!! I loved the book!!!... But i really hope she writes a book to explain what happens to every other character.
This book was amazing. The deaths were sad but it was funny when Kreacher led the house elves into battle.
love. pure love for that book.
overall it was great. i'm just upset that fred & snape died :( i didn't really like the epilogue i wished she explained more what happened after harry killed voldemort what happened with the characters, how were they coping. i still can't believe that this was the last book!
I thought it was awesome. BUt I too was left with a lot of unanswered questions. Victorie would be Bill and Fleur's daughter. Funny that Harry still didnt like Percy after all those years and being family. I was shocked when Mrs. Weasley cursed.LOL. All in all a great book with a good ending at least she didnt kill Harry. Lets hope to more Wizard books from JKR
My favorite book yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! i loved the epilouge!!!!!!!!!!!! it was the most heart warming chapter that could ever be written. it was the best ending to the best book of the series, and probably that i have ever read. my favorite line was "not my daughter you _____!" i give mrs.wesley props for that. despite the pointless deaths(hedwig and dobby:' '( )the rest were sad too, but not as unexpected)
Deathly Hallows was amazing. I have to say that I started the series a little late, and although i have not been through Harry from the beginning, he has still changed my life. Jo's ability to show Severus as a friend, rather than a foe, was the best. I always doubted him and little did I know that his history with Lily, and bad history with James, caused him to have this undying protection for their son, Harry. As Harry walked to his death, I have to say was the most agonizing part of the whole series for me. I was crying so hard, that the pages became blurry. The part that killed me was when Harry said to his mother, "Stay close to me." I cannot even explain how i cried at that part =p. The epilogue may have been short, but in the end, it is Jo's book. She ended Harry as she wanted to and I'm sure she's happy with his ending.
I like--loved that the plot, the whole "plan" was so complex. The book is really good, and I really do love it, but it is a tad bit (just a tad) bit disappointing. I think that it didn't really live up to expectations considering excitement and all. There were some heart-thumping parts, but ... to me it wasn't all that up to par. Overall, loved it (especially Kreacher).
this thought just occured to me. because dudly was soo nice to Harry when he left could his worst memory be Harry not there to protect him? im still wondering...thats all ive got so far. anyone else??????
I thought is was amazing. I definately gasped alot!!!!! I new S was G. there were alot of interesting twists which i liked...sorta~ and it was spooky too! especially in the godrics hallow chapter! ooooooooo~~~~~~
I just finished the book 5 minutes ago. I laughed I cried especially getting to the end. THIS WAS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!! I was happy that harry ended up with Ginny but I wish we learned what they did for a living and who was the headmaster at the school i think its Professor McGonagall I hope she can do atlteast on more book about harry
This was definitely my favorite in the series. I think it was really well written, and it had a spectacular ending. The last 200 pages had me on the edge of my seat. I mean, the entire book was really good, but those last few chapters took my breath away. My one disappointment from the book was the information about Lily. I mean, she did reveal a lot about her, and I was fascinated by it, but Jo said that it was important that Harry had his mother's eyes. Maybe I'm missing something, but Jo didn't seem to elaborate on the importance of the eyes. I mean, Dumbledore did mention something to Snape about how Harry had his mother's eyes, but he didn't elaborate. I don't understand how the fact that Harry had his mother's eyes was important, but maybe I just missed something. Does anybody else know?
i have thought of a question, Why was Creevey even at school? wasnt he muggleborn?
This book was incredible. It had me laughing, crying, screaming, and just loving it. I was extremely satisfied and think it all ended very well. It's definitely the darkest, best book of the series. I do wonder how that's all going to translate to film though...can't wait!
Amazing. Throughout Harry's journey, I could really feel what he was feeling, as Jo intended...shock at the sudden, unecessary death of loved ones, hopelessness and despair with the task of the Horcruxes, and anger and frustration with all the questions Dumbledore left unanswered. The ending was terribly sad and emotional and every twist and turn had me completely engrossed. The book made me laugh, cry, smile, and was a WONDERFUL end to the series. Now, I want to know more about Harry's life after Voldemort, and the other characters that weren't mentioned in the epilogue.
I strongly believe this was the best possible way to end the series. She outdid herself. My only complaint is the bloodbath. Here's who I wished wouldn't have died: Fred Lupin Tonks Tonks' dad Dobby I cried the most when Dobby died!
Ok, it sounds cliche, but it was definitely my favorite. While it seems to leave us with questions, it answers way more to make up for it. The whole thing with the deathly hallows was the most interesting thing of the series. And it makes complete sense. The only way Harry could become the master of death was to accept it, he wouldn't need the deathly hallows to become the master. All the devices were used to avoid death, but in the end Harry knew he didn't need them, he had already mastered death. An excellent story over all. Eleven thumbs up!!! lol
DID HAGRID DIE???someone please help me out
pure class. in a league of its own and by far the best
Absolutely AMAZING!! I am very sad that is over but am very excited to see what JKR puts out next! The very best writing style in HISTORY!!
The person who discovered magic later in life = Ted Tonks He was a Muggle and the reason why Andromeda was blasted off the Black Family Tree but in this book he could heal Harry's body after the fall from the motorcycle...
i loved the whole book. it's the best one so far. the only thing i didn't like was the epilogue. that could've been because it was the last part of the series, but i think it was because it didn't have near enough information. it was such an amazing book, though.
I don't understand why people are complaining about the epilogue-- i loved it-- even though it leaves unanswerd questions-it doesn't matter- and i think that is the point!! you can leave it to your imaginations:)
great but you almost can't compare it to the other books because it was so different. the epilogue was horrible but the rest of the book made up for it. i'm still wondering what harry's parent's careers were, how lily's eyes came into play, and who developed magical powers later in life. overall it was my favorite book though.
dandelion... haha... "Victoire" "Victory" I didn't even make teh connection.. if she was Bill and Fleurs daughter then Fleur could have become pregnant right after the war ended, hence the name.. Love it.
The battle was incredible, but the epilogue was... not so great (to say the least). It turned out to be my favorite book, despite some really depressing deaths. Also, Harry being a horcrux was not too spiffy. Oh well.
My eyes still hurt from reading so intensely, but it was worth it. I have been waiting years to get the book in my hands, and I wasn't disappointed at all. The book was great, the epilogue a bit too short on information, but good enough. Hard to believe Harry's ordeal is over. Just hope JK doesn't write any more stories about him, he's suffered enough and he deserves a good and long rest (even if I'd love to know more about them all).
btownhockey44- nope. as far as we know hagrid lives on
I don't want to say I was disappointed, but it seemed rushed and copped out. Also, everything that has been introduced in the series was for a reason. So why bother with time travel? I would have liked more in-depth on things like that, and on certain connections. What was the point of Fred dying? Just to point out the deaths were hitting close to home? I wished the epilogue gave us more (jobs, headmasters, Harry's other friends etc) but I can't complain because of the people who survived. I guess it just didnt seem to me that the ending was not something we wouldn't have guessed. I was wishing for something a little more challenging, like a missing piece we all missed. But still happy it was happily ever after (for the most part).
I'll have to read the book at least two more times to solidify my feelings about it. Unlike those who cried through the book, I smiled my way through it in eager anticipation of the inevitable. Many of the plot twists had to go one way or the other, so I was reading through waiting for the answer to come. I practically laughed as Harry walked to his death (sadistic, I know) but everything had to come full circle. In a way, this book would have been much more satisfying to me if I had never read a single fanfiction, editorial, or speculation about the book. Then things like Harry being a Horcrux and Dumbledore ordering Snape to kill him would actually have been an excited surprise. Instead, it seemed inevitably predictable. I only lament that so many pages were devoted to the trio as sitting ducks in the forest when a few extra words could have lovingly been spared to dramatize the sad deaths as they happened. Indeed, I completely missed out that Lupin and Tonks died until Harry thinks about how sad it was that Fred, Lupin and Tonks were dead. But it was good enough for me.
I absolutely LOVED it. I thought it was the best book in the series by far; and I've been holding out- PoA has been my favorite since its release however many years ago. I DO feel it left some (ok, many) questions unanswered, but at the same time, sometimes its better that way. (I wouldn't have minded a more informative epilogue, though.) That said, though, my favorite parts: - Ron coming back! I'm such a sucker for Best-Buddies stories, and I cried more out of happiness when Harry & Ron hugged than I did out of grief for the deaths of some of my favorite characters. - Snape's reply to Dumbledore about whether he cared for Harry: "Always." - Fleur and Lupin in the scene when Percy showed up at Hogwarts. Hilarious! - And of course, pg. 625. Happy re-reads everyone!
REMUS!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! HE SHOULDNT HAVE DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
