The book it amazing!! I loved it, no dissapointment, J.K is an amazing author and i really loved the harry potter books!!
This is the book ever. it was abosolty fantistic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! I just have one question.......... what happened to Luna after 19 years?
Sigh... I luvvvv it!!!! i would have loved to see ron/herms wedding but other thab that it was abolutely perfect. im almost ready to forgive JKR for ending the series.
the book was better than expected, though some parts got really boring. the hallows and horuxes fit in perfectly! sooo many deaths though...hedwig,mad-eye, dobby, tonks, lupin, fred, colin, snape, and so many others. it was all very sad. though i really don't understand what happened to pettegriew...someone please explain...did he die, did ron kill him? i didn't really catch that part. and malfoy, nice that his terms became better with the trio, but not that they exactly became friends or anything. anyway, questions like who the muggle that could do magic later in life was and what happened to many of the characters later, lilke luna, was something that i think should have been added in the book. also the occupations, though in the previous books they had decided on becoming aurors...but i wonder if that job still existed since voldemort's dead. i cried and laughed throughout the book, making it one of my favorites. thanks jkr for giving me these awesome 7 years in a whole new magical world.
it was pretty amazing, i have to say. i think that if she wouldn't have introduced so much new information, she could have gone into more detail in the epilogue and such. I wish there would have been way more in the epilogue. And were Fred, Tonks, and Lupin's deaths really necessary!??!?!?!!? Some may say that a main character had to die, but keep in mind, at the point of their deaths, Mad-Eye, Hedwig, Dobby, Scrimegour, Snape, Crabbe, and Colin Creevey had already died. So did it really matter?? The truth is though, they didn't seem that sad because there was like no follow up or anything!! Fred's a little, and Lupin sort of...but seriously!!
It was good. I was most upset by Hedwig and Dobby dying, and happiest about Kreacher and Percy. The epilouge, as 1234 people have already said, was disappointing, but the book itself was very good. I think that, to all of you people upset by the lack of Jo keeping her promises, that she wrote the book how she thought it needed to be written, possibly with changes from her guarentees. Good book, though.
OMG!!! I was fourth in line and got it at 12:05 and got home ate 12:30. I finished it by 9:00 am and then was extraordinarily sad because I felt I read it too fast. I'm almost done reading it for the second time now (I had to wait for my brother to read it first). So...I thought it was truly amazing. The worst was definitely when Fred died. You could see Fred's reaction when George was hurt and George's reaction would be a hundred times worse to Fred's death. What will George do with himself??? The whole Ron-Hermione thing was beautiful. When Ron was sobbing when Hermione was being tortured... awww. Of course the epilogue was dreadful. I mean, give us some info!! But still. All round, I absolutely loved it. So much politics! I found this book to be a combination of your average book on Nazi Germany and George Orwell's worst nightmare - Awesome (actually kinda scary, but still: really good) I just can't believe it's all over...
I think dumbledore saw his family in the mirror. its so hard to keep up with the comments because so many people are posting, plus I'm slow at typing. Parts of this book seemed like fan fiction which bugged me, but the first chapter reminded me of jkr. So the beginning of the book on mn really was real
Victoire is the daughter of Bill and Fleur
I would have liked to see some grieving over Snape, once the truth came out. I thought the first half of the book was too long and dull, with just scene after scene of the trio in that stupid tent. I hated the epilogue. The names of the kids were nauseating. Although I liked Harry's comments about Severus. Oh well, we'll always have fanfic. At least Snape/Lily is canon now.
Absolutely wonderful. The Epilogue was great. Now you are left to continue the discussion of this story. Thank you Jo for no closed ending. And this book certainly surpassed my expectations. Harry has grown from the little-mediocre boy to the man with a brain. I love how she conveyed him in 6 and 7!
I LOVED the part where Snape showed Dumbledore his patronus and Dumbledore was like : "Severus...after all this time?" and Snape says: "Always." THAT WAS SO SAD. I was bawling. But now thinking over it, the epilogue was well-written, it fit a lot of information into a very short few pages: Neville is the Herbology teacher, Harry and Ginny have kids, Ron and Hermione have kids, Draco has a kid so he is obviously good again, Hogwarts has re-opened, and nothing bad has happened in the 19 years since Voldemort's downfall. But I didn't like how Harry's kids didn't know what their father had done! At least it was implied...they ask "Why is everyone staring?" and Ron jokingly says "I'm really famous!" and they laugh. Why wouldn't Harry tell his kids all he accomplished? They would be really proud to have him as their father!
overall I thought the book was excellent, and it was most definatly worth the long wait. The only real problem I had with it was that Griphook had gotten away with Gryffindor's sword, so how is it that Neville came to have in order to kill Nagini?
I am sure that if JK has an interview about DH, she will answer people's questions. I'm sure once she realizes that people have many various questions she'll answer them. Though at the same time, its a book, we're supposed to use our imagination. I'm sad its over, but at least we have the movies to look forward too. THoguh there is so much info in HBP and DH, it'll be interesting to see how they manage to do them. Also, my friend and I agree that there should be directors cuts of HBP and DH with the EVERYTHING in them. It'll be 10 hours long, but I know I won't care. Overall, DH was my favorite. My only quam with the epilogue was that she put it there. It kind of finalizes that its done. Though she could do a book of the things that happen in those 19 years. Other than that I loved the epilogue. But, I would love to know who Draco married. I also wouldn't mind an actual "The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore", I've always wanted a biography on him. Though this book did a very good job of telling us more about his past, and humanizing him was a VERY good idea. It made him even better. Even though she knows we want more, believe me I do, and I am sure there are others like me. She is smart to end on top, rather than do overkill and have the series be in complete shambles when she ends it. I am going to stop before this ends up being an essay. It was a wonderful book. I am going to read it again, like right now.
The whole time J.K. left me itching for more, and the ending was rather satisfying. Im not sure why everybody was upset about the epilogue, it's just Joe's way of repaying back Harry. She even said it herself that out of all the characters she would meet Harry just to beg for forgivness on how she put together his childhood. No doubt about it, Deathly Hallows is the best book. It had me utterley in awe of the depth and time Joe put on her part to complete the series, the in depth plot she created will leave authors spellbound as to how to compete to such standards. Thank You Joanne for bringing Harry to life again and keeping him alive, he deseves it!
i finished it at 5am this morning stayed up all night to finish and it was ..... WOW.... i loved it. it was full of excitement and so much to take in i only wish i could keep reading forever. and i did like the ending at least we know harry had kids and maybe we will join them at hogwarts soon!!!!!!!!!
The epilogue ruined it. Shame. The rest was very good. Still dissapointed about the department of mysteries.
Deathly Hallows was GREAT!!! The epilogue left a lot to be answered, it should have been much longer. I would love it if she wrote a book about their children, just one, so we know what happens to Harry and everyone else after they grow up. A lot of people were unsatisfied with the epilogue. Other than that though, the book was really awesome. I can't believe so many people died though! I cried after Hedwig and Dobby died. :(
WHAT IF JO DID AN EPISODE OF MUGGLECAST TO ANSWER ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!! that would surely make my LIFE.
I loved the book. It was more action-packed than the other books, but unlike stories of its stature, it didn't leave behind the plot. I had predicted that Harry was a horcrux, but I thought that a dementor would be involved in its removal. I loved how he explained that he had died for the people in the castle, so they were protected from Voldemort. I'm sad thats the series is done, but glad that the books won't go on forever, diminishing with each volume, just so someone can make some money off of Rowlings genius.
Best book by far!!!
Perfect. I loved it. I shed a tear when Snape died... he died looking into Lily's eyes... awwww. I actually really liked the epilogue. The simplicity of it was actually a good thing to me. The last 3 words summed the epilogue up perfectly... All was well. It didn't need to be complicated. I was kinda sad before I started reading this book cause I didn't want it to end but it just feels so complete to me. I wouldn't change a thing. I read it like I read the first book when I was 9 years old... completely without any idea of what was going to happen and surprised by every twist and turn. I think that is how they are meant to be read. Without all the theories and stuff. PERFECT. :)
I have a lot to say about this book, but obviously, I don't have the time necessary to write it all. First of all, the book was fantastic. It almost answered all of my questions. The only one it really did not answer was, the same as the rest of you, who did magic later in life??? One of the most touching scenes in my opinion was when Dudley shook Harry's hand and stuck up for him to his mother. Maybe Dudley grew up after all...lol. I do agree that the epilogue appeared to have been very rushed and left a lot unanswered. Also..RIP to Hedwig, Moody, Lupin, Tonks, Fred, Colin and certainly to George's ear. Home run JKR!!!
can anyone tell me...what was that baby thing struggling on the floor in the white room?
Dumbledore obviously saw his parents and sister in the mirror of eserid. I like how Ron finally conquered his fears about himself. Riddle-Harry kissing Riddle-Hermione would've broken his heart in earlier years.
Oh my goodness! I'm one of those people who doesn't like anything spoiled for them. When I got the book I lived totally parnoid that someone was gonna end up spoiling the last book for me. I felt like Mad-Eye. ^_^; I read non-stop, mostly, for 2 days and stayed up till 3am last night to finish it. I have to say I'm a little torn. I really loved it in so many ways. It was well written and the plot is awesome! Everything about the major plot twists has been explained and it's all done so well! I cried so hard when I thought Harry was gonna die! I literally read page after page with tears streaming down my face! Until I saw the last paragraph of that chapter, did I know Harry did not, in fact, die. I was crying still but laughing at the same time. I'm so glad! I actually don't really mind the ending. A lot of people are apparently not very satisfied with it. I have to agree that I expected something a little less fanfiction-y, but overall it was pretty good. I agree that yeah, there are a lot of unanswered questions! What the heck was that thing in the background with Harry and Dumbledore at Kings Cross? What happened to poor George after the loss of his twin?! How's the school doing? But still, I thought it was good. I was sad when the characters died though, I cried for Dobby, Remus and Tonks. For poor Teddy who is now orphaned. I actually wanted to dislike Snape. After how cruel he was with Harry and his friends, I really wanted to dislike him. But then I read all the flashbacks of him in love with Lily, and I couldn't stay mad. I'm really glad Harry forgave him. Finally! I'm sad that the series has ended. I only started following it 4 years ago, but I'm still in love. And I couldn't have asked for anything more then Harry alive and happy. =)
I absolutely loved the book, I read it all on Saturday! It wasn't anything like I expected, but I loved it. The American cover was misleading though...
Thanks to JKR and her amazing series I will never be the same again. What an amazing gift she gave us all. She opened us up to a whole new world, a place where magic really happens and a group of teenagers can kick some serious A. Now if my husband would just hurry up and read the book so I can talk to him about it..lol.
I LOVED IT!!!! except that some parts were kind of weak and the ending and epilogue was to forced.... when did dhe started writing disney stories?
so harry dropped the stone in the forest, what if generation 2 finds it? I think we need a new series!! and neville as professor, love it! but where did luna go in 19 years?
Brilliant I just don't understand lupin's death. Surely the only way to kill him would be with a silver bullet? I thought that 'rule' applied to werewolves even in their human form. Maybe I'm mistaken.
i think the book was pretty good until the end. i love harry, but i really wanted him to die. it would have been a more interesting end to the story. and i think that hagrid and neville should have died, too. but it was sooo sad when hedwig and fred died. i dwelled on hedwig's death the whole time i was reading... poor thing! but i think that in the beginning, the body hanging in the malfoy house should have been draco. that would have been awesome.. like, making everyone see it as a warning not to disobey him or whatever. i also think that it would have been more interesting if neville had died after cutting the snake's head off, and i think that harry should have died when he killed voldemort.. like, if harry came back and finished voldemort off, but died with him... that would have been more interesting. like, if there was no other way. and i think that ron and hermione should have named their kid after harry then... and tonks and lupin should have survived, darn! their poor kid. and i mean if harry HAS to live in the end, he should have adopted the kid (legally) and raised him. i dunno, it was a great book, but i didn't like the ending. i expected more people to die. not a freaking fairy tale ending... ugh!
what do u mean mrs weasly she already does magic she could do all of this before ginny was threatened by the B**CH hehe! i dont get it but again thanks PureBloodPrince777
It's definately the BEST of the series. I loved it, my favourite. It left me wanting more, of course, and I cried a lot, starting with Hedwig's death. Yeah. I'm sad the series are over and there's a lot of things I want to know about like The Trio's professions, The Marauders' professions, about The Veil, about the state of the world after the war. I loved the final battle and I loved the fact that Harry's kids are Lily, Albus Severus and James (I'm thinking middle name Sirius maybe?). I'm grieving for the end of the series, for Lupin (although I sort of knew that she'd have all The Marauders killed), Tonks (she was so cool), Dobby and, worst of all, Fred (NOOOO!). Still, I love Jo Rowling, she's the queen of the world. I coulnd't help to notice a few things such as Hermione's middle name (Jean or Jane?) and the fact that she told Ron and Harry about how she modified her parents' memories to keep them safe and then she says she doesn't know how to perform a memory charm when they run into the couple of Death Eaters right after the escaping the wedding. It also shocked me to see Dumbledore so... human. He'd been showing his flaws more and more since OotP but to actually have him bawl and suffer about his dark past shocked me. To me, Dumbledore was always god-like and in this book he was human. Cute. The only bit I didn't entirely love was the epilogue, the way it was written, it's content. Meh. Just one bit. Deathly Hallows is Rowling's masterpiece.
First of all, it was absolutely amazing. Where was Harry with Dumbledore? Were they behind the veil? Was he the person that JK said she'd make them live again? I absolutely love Snape. What a hero. I always knew that Harry was a Horcrux, and that Snape was Dumbledore's man through and through and that he adored Lily. It was great. My fav chapter was chapter 33, The Prince's Tale. I read it a billion times, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I can't believe Snape died!
one word: AMAZING!!!! except for the epilogue. she left so much un-asnwered. the new headmaster the new minister of magic career choices of harry, ron, and hermione. why some people become ghosts and others don't what dudley sees when hes around dementors what happened to the dursleys AND:: how come no one named their son George?!?!? but all in all, it was pretty good
My guess would be that Victoire is one of the other Weasley children's (Bill, Charlie, maybe George) kids, since they refer to her as a cousin
overall i loved the book. the saddest parts for me were Hedwig dying, dobby dying, and harry walking to his death. i thought J.K. did a really good job writing those scenes and also i really loved the scene at king's cross with dumbledore. overall the book was the most exciting and the coolest by far... one of the most re-readable. it lived up to my expectations and even went beyond them. i only had a few problems: i thought tonks and lupin's deaths were a bit underplayed, meaning she didn't really give the deaths meaning as dumbledore's and sirius did... i didn't feel that sad because it was brought up so casually and then brushed off because harry had to do other stuff. I also felt there should have been one more chapter before the epilogue explaining in detail the celebration, the mourning, and the wizarding world's reaction in all. i feel if we had one more chapter like that, i would be more prone to like the epilogue even in all of its fan-fiction style. needless to say.. i loved the book, it was the best book ever!
HAPPY BURFDAY DANIEL RADCLIFFE! YAY! THE BIG 1-8!!!!
i loved it. i read a comment saying that it's hard to call this book the best in the series, because all the previous books set this book up. i agree with that. throughout i was consistently amazed at how jkr could weave in tiny parts of the world she's created in six books, making this book completely seamless and meaningful to everyone who's read the whole series. i think the last few chapters of this book (the hogwarts chapters), the entire sixth book, the parts in POA where you learn that sirius is good and scabbers is wormtail, and the part in book 5 where fred & george drop out of school are my favorite parts of the series. i don't think i can just say "[this book or that book] is my favorite" anymore. it all seems like one big book now. and i don't think i'll ever get sick of rereading it.
when i first finished it my heart dropped to my stomach, but it was such a great book, JK really did a good job putting in comic relief, even though i still felt sad with the deaths. What was everyones favorite quotes? there were so many great parts, obvioulsy Mrs. Weasly yelling at Bellatrix "Not my daughter you girl" ahh so great i just remember wanting to say you go girl, but i held that in...also Ron had some pretty memorible lines as well
I loved it! It had many twist and turns, and I couldn't put it down. The only thing I would've changed is I would've liked to know from the epilogue what all their jobs were and what happened to Luna, otherwise, I wouldn't have changed a thing! Also, what do you want to bet that Ron is the one that named his and Hermione's son Hugo? :)
how come harry saw P. Quirell(sp?) die but he still couldnt see the thestrals? 1st? haha yea i know, not even close!
i loved the book!! but i dont get... everybody says that the book has more than 700 pages, but my only has 607... do the DH books published by Bloombury have less pages?
Before book 7 - Percy + Kreatcher + Snape = Scum After book 7 - Percy + Kreatcher + Snape = Cool/Heroic
I was dissapointed by the epilogue, I must say. It didn't tell the occupations, or other thing that would mean big spoilers. I can't believe Ron was a ***********. He was the character that found different magic late in life (I think...). I was a bit confuse by it too. Dobby's and Colin's deaths were pointless but anyway, Tonks, Remus, Fred, Dobby, and Colin R.I.P. Poor Teddy he's an orphan, now! With Love, ~xXx~Lily_Marie_Potter~xX x~
I thought that the book was absolutely amazing. Before I read, I thought that both Harry and Voldemort were going to die, but for once I can say that I'm glad that I'm wrong. Everyone keeps saying that there were too many unnecessary deaths, but that's what war is. There were times in the book that I started crying, especially when Harry found out that he had to die. Which he never did, but I thought he did and yeah, you know. I wish that we could've found out what Harry's, Ron's, Hermione's and Ginny's job were in the epilogue, but oh well. The epilogue told us that they had their friends and large families, and that's exactly what they wanted. By the way, did anyone else just KNOW that once Lupin asked Harry to be Teddy's godfather, that Lupin and Tonks were going to die? I just knew it. So sad. But yeah, I think it was the best book of the series and the last chapter, The Flaw in the Plan, was spectacular. I'm really going to miss waiting for more books. My childhood was just that much better because of these books. Yay for Harry!
All in all, I thought it was great - cried over Dobby of all things. Makes me wonder what the other titles were that JKR considered... maybe 'Harry Potter and the Six Month Camp Out?' So sad the series is over - I keep carrying my book around all over the house!
beautiful! i think i cried through that whole book. it was crazy through the whole story : lupid and dobby and fred? i couldn't handleit. The book was amazing and it was exactly what a hoped for. still i wishh it told more about their later life and i can't believe snape was killed off. I KNEW YOU WERE GOOD SNAPE! and i was hoping that sirius was never REALLY dead but dshdyhsgbfdhjdf. J.K ROWLING PLEASE WRITE MORE ABOUT THE POITTER KIDS. what am i goinbg to do without harry potter?
Frankily, I don't care what anybody says. The whole book was brilliant, including the epilogue! The whole book was perfect, with Harry's mind getting distracted and all that. But he definitely had a choice, didn't he? Just like in the first book, second book, third book, and so on.... Dumbledore said in the fourth movie, and I do believe even the fourth book, although I may be mistaken, "Dark and difficult times lie ahead, Harry. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right... and what is easy." And I believe JKR stuck to that until the end... all her many themes and messages she was trying to show us came through... good overcame evil, right overcame easy, and love overcame hate. I'm very sad to see it all end, but I don't think it could've ended a better way: With Harry all grown up, married, and with children of his own. Perfect! Thanks Jo for the seven wonderful gifts you've given the world. Absolutely brilliant!
