absolutely amazzzing. i balled my eyes out. i was, however, kinda upset that neville didnt get to kill bellatrix. but i thought mrs. weasley was great and hillarious.
It wasn't the best Harry Potter book, although I did love it. I felt the ending was too happy, and that it was rather dissapointing that nearly supposed villan turned out to be good. I loved the chapter The Silver Doe, and how Ron stabbed the horcrux, and I think my favorite part was when Hermione started making out with Ron and then she's like: "It's now or never!" Gold.
for you absolutely CLUELESS people: the scene on the US cover is the final battle! it is Harry and Voldemort, standing in the ruins of the Great halll, hands raised to catch The eldr Wand!
awesome book but some of my questions were not answered, and jk rowling didn't keep all of her promises. also why in the epilouge did ron and hermonie name their kid hugo?
I can't believe it's over. It just can't be. I feel like I am grieving.
omg thank you SO MUCH tonkslupin for bringing up the overly obvious nazi germany. i mean...couldn't she at least make SOME changes to history? the whole muggle-registration commission...familiar much? aryans vs jews? then we have mustachioed hitler and his army of nazis and his twin voldemort along with a bunch of death eaters. i also agree about umbridge. couldn't we at least get ginny to do a bat bogey hex on her? something? but no...we just stun her and take her locket...woohoo raise the roof... colin's death was very traumatic. i can't think of him in any other way besides that cute-yet-annoying blond boy with the camera in CoS. and dobby...weren't his chances of survival like 100/1? that's so sad... AND WHO DOES MAGIC LATER IN LIFE? HUH? also, i thought neville should have at least killed bellatrix. i know he destroyed the last horcrux and got the sword (how i don't know) and everything, but mrs weasley (albeit hilarious) didn't really have a life-long grudge against her. and snape's death should have been more heroic than being eaten by a snake in the shrieking shack. oh well. i guess we can't have everything we want. BUT DING-DONG VOLDY'S DEAD!!!!!!!! AND DRACO AND LUCIUS ARE NOT!!!!!!!! i'm still really happy about that :D
the book was great. i love snape in this book. The whole deathly hallows thing was really well put in. I feel like there is a hole now. Because there will be no more harry potter books :[ :[ but, all is well :]
OMG!!! Was anyone else sobbing hysterically when Fred died?!!!!! Other than that though... AMAZING book!!!!!! Hehe, Mrs. Weasley is awesome! ("NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU *****!") The plot was really incredible and there were so many twists I didn't know what to expect anymore (like Fred and Dobby...). The epilogue was good though, but I would have liked to see more with other characters (at least they showed Draco though :) ). Overall, the BEST, most bittersweet book in the series!!!
I MISS SNAPE!!!! ='O *SNIFFLE SNIFFLE* i wish he didn't die='[
Bloody freaking brilliant. This book is absolutely amazing, and HARRY LIVED! woo hoo! I was SO scared that he was going to die, and I was upset everytime I thought he was about to, and then he lived!
I was satisfied with it. I too, am wondering who the person who did magic late in life was. I didn't catch that one. And there were a couple of questions that went unanswered, but nothing I can't live with. I guess a good author leaves some things up to the reader's imagination. All in all, I would say that this book was a capstone.
*spoilers in this just for those who havent finished* ok, so in my opinion i think this is the darkest of all the other harry potter books. all the deaths! the ending was terrible, and the epilogue didnt answer ANYTHING. i was kind of dissapointed how little jk.rowling showed how much ron and hermione liked each other. i think she should have had them together kissing or w/e before the last chapters or so.
The book was wonderful, amazing, unexpected. Adjectives fail me. I loved the epilogue mainly because Ron and Hermione ended up married still cant believe rowling only made them kiss once, after 3 years of waiting for them to get properly together and she only gave us one kiss to fret over!!! I think the part when Snape tell Harry to look at him as his life slipped away was the most emotional episode in the whole series. Wanted to cry after i finished but somehow couldn't. Feel empty. Can't believe its over LOVE YOU HARRY!!!!!!
I have always liked Snape. I knew there was something more to him, something we didn't know, that would explain his actions. Even when he killed Dumbledore, I never doubted that he was truly a good guy. He is an excelent man, and may he RIP..He shall always be remembered and cherished in my heart. But now I can be happy, not being haunted by the fact that he survived and is alone in this world, almost rid of love completly because his true love died, but because now he can be remembered as the hero, and that he can be in heaven, with his true love lily forever.
Read carefully - Hagrid is NOT killed! He invited Albus Severus to TEA!!! I do not think it was "Tea in the Beyond!" LOL!!! Muggelnet staff - I would LOVE to hear the reactions from the stars of the film.... Would have LOVED to see more of Minerva Magonagle and Umbridge. Would love to hear back story on those two and Trelawny As far as Deathly Hallows??? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - I am in my third read and WOW! I still hope for MUCH MUCH more on these characters from JKR. I want to know so much about Harry as a happy person at peace, Ginny, Ron, Hermione! Neville! Even that prat Draco! I miss Dobby and what about the drunk house elf - the female? I wanted her and Dobby t o hook up - Kreachur is too old! How cool that he came through in the end! Just WOW! I love JKR - and the Mugglenet staff???? You guys are really quite amazing people - three generations of our family read your website every day (the fourth asks but doesn't read that well yet!) - the oldest is 87! Congratulations!!!!
I loved the book, I was happy to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione live. I would have liked that epilouge to be a little longer and explained more during the gap to the epilouge, over all, amazing thought.
THE BOOK WAS ABSOLUTELEY AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!(except 4 the epilogue huge disappointment)anyway, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE END WAS SPECTACULAR WHEN HARRY COMES BACK EVERYTHING WOW...AMAZING
Watch me be the only one to not fully go crazy with "AWESOME" about the book. But that's okay, I guess. I just hope I don't get hunted down. (Please don't. I like life.) The book really disappointed me. A lot. Majority of it (until page 570) was just the trio in a tent. Now I love the trio as much as the next person but I yearned for the other characters of the Harry Potter world and was given Hermione and Harry in a tent after that (Ron had left). But after page 570, it finally got my attention. But then she had to go and kill off pretty much everyone that I wanted more of. I cried. A lot. The ending was alright but the epilogue was annoying. I loved that Neville (my favorite character) got to do so much and was so amazing (as I always knew he had it in him) but am disappointed on the whole with the book. Parts were too dragged out and things that I wanted to know weren't explained. I hated Dumbledore's Chapter of Explanation but I guess it needed to be done. I'll read it again, sure, but it won't be one that I'll break the spine so much that I'll need another copy. I'll wait a few weeks and read it again. As of right now, the grief is still far too near for me to attempt another reading. To those characters that died, I'm crushed. Anyway, I know that's not all my thoughts but they're still tumbling around getting lost in the cracks of my brain so there you have it. My tiny two cents of an opinion. Hope everyone else enjoyed it.
Okay, I'm having a brain fart. Did Bellatrix die? I don't think that she did...I can't remember.
I loved the actual book, but I absolutely HATED the epilogue. I'm sorry, Jo. I was expecting a lot more information in the epilogue. What happened to finding out what everyone did after leaving Hogwarts? Albus Severus? Okay, I can understand that, I'm just weirded out by it. There are so many (albeit insignificant) questions that were left unanswered. I hope she does a super-long interview and answers all of our questions. Overall I loved it. I felt such immense pity for Snape... I never thought I would.
the book was great; the only thing that i didn't really get was the scene in king's cross where harry sees the "flayed" child (pg. 706-707)
I thought this was her best book yet. A few things were left unanswered but, I think that is to be expected when there are so many plots that need to be fulfilled. I do wish the epilouge could have explained a bit more. You rock Mrs. Weasley. The way she took charge and went after Bellatrix, YOU GO MOMMA. I am glad at how the series ended. Hopefully in the future we will see more books from J K Rowling.
To whoever asked about Teddy going to school...it said he was saying good bye to Victoire. So she was probably still in school and he was just saiyng good bye. And Harry and Ginny didnt take in Teddy? Harry said 'hes over for dinner about 4 times a week, why doesnt he just move in and make it official' or something like that, i dont no the exact wording. To whonext360, i think Percy was at Kings Crossing because he was a teacher. We all no how ambitious he was and since he quit the Ministry...it seem to make sense.
yes that is what i believe R&H stand for and also for a question asked earlier victorie is a french name so i think that would make her bill and fluers child
I was really disappointed! Maybe I had too high of expectations, but I just felt that she left too many questions unanswered and that the epilogue was horrific. Yes, the book had good points...I loved that Snape was finally justified...however I'm really upset that she just left the vast majority of the minor characters without any real closure. It just didn't give me any satisfaction as a final installment. I MISS AND LOVE YOU FRED!!!
I don't know but the cover confused me to!
Oh my God!!!!!! I loved it except 4 the epiloge... didn't convince me...i wanted to know what happened with EVERYONE!!!!!! i like the book a lot eventhough... i cried a lot!!! what in the hell was in her mind when she dare to kill fred, he was my favourite character!!!! And what about tonks and lupin??? She was cruel to leave a newborn parent-less!!!! Did Harry take care for the baby after that??? Gosh! the epiloge didn't answer my doubts!!! A need a hole book with what happened next haha! I loved it when Ron & Hermione finally kissed... she was really slow with them but the scene was worthy!! Ah... it's finally over.... that makes me sad... :(
thank you JK for the magin you have brought into my life!
Great ending! The epilogue was pretty disappointing but other than that it was the best book of the series by far!
OH MY GOD I WAS SO SAD WHEN TONKS AND LUPIN AND FRED DIED I CRYED FOR 3 HOURS IT IS SO NOT FAIR, BUT OTHER THAN THAT I LOVED THE BOOK AND THE EPILOG WAS SO FUNNY I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT BECOME A MOVIE ALTHOUGH IM SURE THAT THEY WILL LEAVE OUT ALOT OF DETAILS LIKE THEY DO ALL THE TIME
The book was very good - the fact that Harry seemed to be going nowhere in his quest in the middle stages was a bit frustrating, reminiscent of Book 5, but then it ramped up again brilliantly. I think I will always enjoy the first three books the most, because he is so much the child, and it gives me a sense of peace. I think to all of us who read about Harry Potter for so long, an despite rather than because of all the media hype surrounding the movies, Harry and all the other much beloved characters seem almost as old friends, in whose death we find ourselves in mourning. I am happy he did not die. But I must say I am jealous of old Harry, as JK Rowling has written in Ginny what amounts to the perfect woman, and being 21 years old and looking, I find that I am ludicrously envious of Harry, who has found what I hope to find.
i just have a few comments. I figured out Lupin's Death from book 5. Cause his death completes the Messers. James-Sirius-Peter-Remus. Fred's was a complete surprise, and i'm still in denial about it. the Twins were my favorite characters. loved the book, my favorite line is "Yes, I Dare" from Harry. and i laughed in triumph the second time he said it to Voldey. I think that's all i have to Say.
The beginning of the book was amazing, I was so excited and I was ready for the whole book to be action-filled but still emotional. The book was until Harry and Hermione were left alone? It was like 100 pages of "we're so bored, this sucks, why are we here". However, once the book picked up it really got going, and the ending was non-stop. Some of the charactures got confusing too many "G" names. My favorite chapter was King's Cross, it was so sweet! I wasn't a huge fan of the final battle, kinda confusing didn't understand how Voldy died. Maybe I just need to re-re-read the book! I thought the epilouge was sweet, but didn't ansewr enough questions. Did Harry become and Auror? What did he do after he won? What about George? Still the ending was very satisfactory, Thank you J.K. Rowlings for the life-changing series!
I have mixed feelings about the book. I enjoyed it, but there were a few weak parts. I think the 100 or so pages of absolutely nothing in the middle could of been cut down a bit. I was ready to read to entire night but that part put me to sleep...literally. I think the epilogue was pretty cheesy, and could of been written better, but the line about Snape being the bravest person harry had ever known made me cry, so It was alright. I'll miss Harry Potter alot. Thank you Mrs. Rowling, for Making my childhood up till now a better experiance. =)
wow...great book...not sure if it is my favorite though battle of hogwarts chapter ...wow... but im really sad that this is the last harry potter books...i wish she could somehow continue the series...and she could continue it
to be honest, i'm still on the fence about this one. Of course i love it bc it's Harry's last book but as mentioned by people before the epilogue was pretty disappointing and it, along with other parts of the book, reminded me a lot of fan fiction...there were several plot holes and seemed to me to be slightly anti-climactic the way everything ended...but i admit it, i did cry when fred, lupin, tonks, dobby, and hedwig died...then cried again when Harry used the Resurrection Stone. maybe i'll like it better when i read the entire series again and everything goes in order. much love Harry Potter fans!!
WOW WOW WOW! I cried so many times - it took me forever to finish because I kept having to put DH down and digest what was happening!!! I'd have to say I bawled bawled when Fred died, and when Dobby died! I was so glad Mrs. Weasley swore it was like she isn't a total prick! I agree with everyone else - the epilogue could have had so much more! I really wish it would have told us what everyone did after Voldemort was killed, not just the trio and Ginny!!! I really feel like there was a lot left out! Like - what did Lily and James do for a living?? Who did magic late in life?? and many other things... I always knew Snape was on the good side! I'm in love with the fact that he loved Lily... it makes all the sense in the world! The middle bored me a bit with the trio just sitting around and all. I'd have to say George's ear joke was a little pathetic but I'm really glad at least he was the twin who survived! Super glad that Percy came back - it was so great. Thank God Harry Lived. I might have sued Jk. But overall I really think JKR did AWESOME with this book! This was absolutely one of the hardest reads I have ever had, and I am so sad that the series is now over! I can't wait to read new articles about it on Mugglenet!!!!! :D
Starting from the beggining. RIP: James and Lily Potter, Regulus Black, Frank Byrce, Bertha Jorkins, Cedric Diggory, Sirius Black, Albus Dumbledore, Hedwig, Mad-eye Moody, Gregorovitch, Peter Pettigrew, Dobby, Fred Weasley, Severus Snape, Remus and Nymphadora Lupin, Colin Creevy, and the 50 or so others. To all the fathers and mothers, Brothers and Sisters, friends, and teachers who died at the hands of Voldemort and his followers. To Ron, Hermione, Ginny, George, Percy, Bill, Charlie, Fleur, Molly, Arthur, Hagrid, Grawp, Luna, Neville, McGonnagal, Flitwick, Sprout, Firenze, Slughorn, Pomfrey, Trewlaney, Dean, Seamus, Lavendar, Padma , Parvarti, Michael, Terry, Ernie, Anthony, Lee, Cho, Kingsley, Oliver, Katie, Angelina, Alicia, Peeves, Dedalus, dudley, Petunia, vernon, Arabella, Mundungus, Maxine, Sturgis, Kreacher and all the others who fought with Harry or helped him in any way. Even to the Malfoys who somehow earned some of my sympathys. We love you all. Most of all to JK ROWLING who wrote the stories of all these characters. All of our lives would be different without you. TO THE BOY WHO LIVED.
I loved this book the most but I did have a sleight problem(s) we did not find out anything of the professors spouses. Also The eplilouge was disapointing the only thing we learned is that Hermione and Ron got married as well as Ginny and Harry and they had kids but what about Luna and Everyone else and what were there jobs they couldnt have been unemployed could they? Also there was no mention of anyone using magic late in life.Okay and one more thing I would liked to see how George is doing without his twin. However I must admit she most likely would have to write a book sized epiloue to make us happy still come on Jo a couple of pages wouldnt have hurt now would it?
i loved the book, it´s my favorite, but even though i loved the last chapter it wasn't so complete as i thought it would be.
What I totally loved is how Jo gave H/Hr shippers a kiss and then shot them down with one fell swoop -- only JKR could've done it how she did! It was great. I mean, I knew Harry already considered Hermione as a sister but just confirmation that was headed towards those (not my word) "delusional" fans was awesome!
I was actually pretty disapointed. It was kind of predictable and too, "they all lived happily ever after" My third favorite of them all.
Best book in the entire series, I think. I'm really upset with Fred's death though, I really wish it didn't happen, and I'm sad that Harry didn't get to talk with Petunia or Snape. Overall, amazing book! There are a few questions I'd like answered, but this book is pure genius. I really liked the epilogue as well. Well, to answer some things, it's time for fan fiction D: Anyways, I repeat, best book, but I'm so upset because it's all over I'm also confused as to how Voldemort died, I still don't get it at all, and I'd like to know everyone's jobs... *rambleramble* Anyways, if someone can explain the death of Voldemort for me (I don't get that paragraph) can anyone email me at blechamooha@yahoo.com? Thanks.
this book is amazing. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. i never cried so hard for a sumone dying. but i have to say.. R.I.P. FRED WEASLEY!! and DOBBYY THE FREE HOUSE ELF!!. my favorite characters :(. Lupin & Tonks...but this book is my favorite. i love it. the 19yrs later part tho.. i wish i kne what harry did after not jus marryin ginny & having kids blah blah. i wish i kne his job & stuff. oh well sum questions to ask JKRowling!! YAYY i loved it.
The book is perfect, my favourite, I was actually crying at the end, the epilogue is a gift, I loved it...thank you Jo, thank you so much.
Absolutely fantastic, although I'm sure she left some stuff out that I'll think of later. I almost cried over poor Fred, but I think I was sadder for George - what's he going to do? I wanted to know more about the rest of the characters as well at the end, especially George, just how losing Fred changed him and everything. Absolutely great, I loved it.
*dies with Fred and Dobby*
I looooved it! I think most people while very depressed by the deaths and the ending of the series are just so happy with the way it ended and how well it was written. JK did an amazing job pulling everything together even though there are a lot of unanswered questions (which I'm sure she'll be happy to answer in due time). I admit I wasn't such a huge fan of the epilogue because it was a little much what with all the naming the children after everyone who died and all..but she promised us she would show us what happened to the trio, which I think was nice. How much you want to bet little James's middle name is Sirius?
the...best...book...EVER! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cried for the last five whole chapters!! i had salt on my face i cried so much!!! i cant believe harry only kissed ginny once!
I'm suprised and really sad that there wasn't (in my opinion) enough Luna. She's my favorite and I thought if she put Draco in the Epilogue (although I do understand why she did) she should have put in Luna. Does anyone think she ever manged to find someone?
