I personally would LOVE a little about Albu ans Rose...hey together thats 'white rose' (Latin), my favorite flower! Harry semed a ad our of character in the end, but maybe that was cuz he had changed so much, you know/
My favortie! but i still wish Snape kinda died in a more gallent way, i guess his death was signifigant by its insignifigance, like Voldermort doesn't even care about sacrificing his favorite, but i wanted him to do something grand. I wish they explained who teddy grew up with in the epoligue
I cried.
That was the complete and total best book in the entire world!! I admit that the epilouge was a bit disappointing, but it was still the best book in the entire world, I just hope the movie will do it justice. Hedwig, Mad-eye, Ted, Fred, Lupin, and Tonks RIP.
Awful. The worst, and by far, of the seven books. Jo really needs a good editor, the inconstencies of this book are HUGE. She has destroyed her own world. Pity.
So I love how the new poll is all about George's ear, pretty much! Haha. By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIEL RADCLIFFE! There should be an update about his birthday!
I was very pleased with this book! I'm very glad she chose not to kill Harry, and even though I didn't like some of the deaths I understand why the were done. The history about Dumbledore and Snape was a great twist. Great book! I'm just a bit disappointed we didn't find out more in the epilogue, such as what happened to all the characters besides the ones that we saw? Did George continue on with the shop? Did they finish school? Etc.
I loved the book! It was absolutly amazing. Soo captivating n riviting! I loved how she showed the difficult struggle to find the horcruxes and the constant bickering with in friends. OH but it was by far, hands down, the most heart breaking book. I will admitl, though, that by the last 4ish chapters i started to feel completly numb with all the emotions that were going through me. Lupin, Tonks, (i mean they JUST had a baby!!) fred, s-snape *sniff*.... I think the death that really just did it for me, completly numbed me out was the suprising lupin n tonks death. I think it hit me hard mainly because i was soo suuuuuuuurre they werent gonna die. I figured it was gonna be a nice message that he was the only last SURVIVING marauder. OH n dobby, i still cant get over it....But all in all it was an amazing book. I laughed, i screamed, i cursed (much like ms.weasley), and with out a doubt, cried. OH what a story to end all storys.
The BEST FINALE EVER ... i DIDN'T WANT AN EPILOGUE THOUGH ...Now I don't know what to do !!! Do you think J.K.Rowling would write about potter .. maybe another kind of adventure... or this is it???? ..:(......
well i just finished i have very very very mixed feelings the majority of it was absolutly amazing!! obv the best book overall however, i felt like the final duel should have meant more to harry- we didnt really get much of a reaction out of harry after he defeated the dark lord i think it ended too quickly after voldemorts death- but thinking about it, what ealse was there left really? well besides the epiloge so about the epiloge if Jo had never said anything about there being an epiloge, i think it wouldve been great- however, i think my expectations rose way to high after she told us she would explain what happened to all the survivors- i always pictured it being a really long chapter that went though everything- so that was sorta a let down and anyone ealse wondering what was so extremly significant about petunia? and why does the great hall have great arches and pillars everywhere on the cover? at any rate it was very good overall- a pretty good ending IMO, though it could have been better, however it also had the potential to be an absolute disaster my absolutly favorate part was chapter 4(the seven potters) as voldemort and the death eaters chase harry and the order across the skies R.I.P. Dobby
AMAZING. The Prince's Tale was my favorite chapter in the whole series. Everything fit together so very well, it was amazing((i kept telling my friends snape was good, but they wouldn't listen)). One Question though. Why did Hedwig have to die? That was totally pointless, i geuss she was feeling extremely cruel that day. Still AMAZIING
oh and I completely agree with the post made by wyld_stallyns about the epilouge!! It was a fine way to end the series. I very much approve!!
Wonderful book! JKR really tied it all together. The epilogue did leave a lot to be desired...but I think that was a good way to keep everyone from requesting more books (without killing off Harry like a lot of people thought would happen). I don't quite understand everyone's obsession with characters professions, so I don't feel disappointed it wasn't mentioned!! I would have liked Ginny to have more of a role & thought Remus & Tonks deserved at least a paragraph about their death. I loved the parts with: Kreacher, Dobby (weep), Percy & MRs. Weasley kicking butt!! The whole ending was brilliant- what a battle! Thank you JKR!!
It was so intense right from the start.... I'm still recovering from the tenseness... There do still seem to be some questions flying around that many people feel haven't been answered as promised. Hopefully Jo will speak to these sooner rather than later!
EPIC
i loved it. the whole mood had changed in this last book and it was soooooo much different than all the other books, and i am still torn between whether this is good or not. everyone was so much more grown up in this book, it seemed as though only yesterday ron had the emotional range of a teaspoon, but he seemed to be giving off quite alot of wisdom. and the battle between harry and voldy, it amused me somewhat that the roles were switched and instead of harry being scared and kept in the dark it was ol' voldy pants, and harry got to tease him alittle. my favorite thing about the book was the fact that harry came to his conclusions a lot quicker than he usually has shown in previous books. he didn't seem slow or average at all in this book, you could finally see why he was such a threat. but now that it is over, i have a hallow feeling inside. its bittersweet... and still so many questions unanswered! I say we rally up and force J.K to spill everything. and a real regret i feel, is that harry and severus never had a proper last conversation. it would have been SO nice to had heard what snape would say. i wish that it didn't have to END! HOW DEPRESSING! but alas, it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
it was th ebest book ive VER read.. it was really good..like how all the ffamiies were being ripped apart... =[ but th eepilogue could have been more.. like what happend to fred and when willl harry telllhis kids what he did in his life and stuff. but it was REALLY GOOD. and i cant believe snape!!=[
Yes, I must admit that the last chapter was.......But other than that the book was amazing! I loved all of the R/Hr moments, though it seemed kind of wierd that Ron was actually being NICE to her....I loved the H/Hr moments too, even though Harry said, "I love her like a sister!" I have a lot of questions. I was soooo looking forward to know what the trio did for a living and to learn more about their kids! I love the name Hugo! For people who are wondering, it is pronounced---Hue-Go not Hug-O. Rose, I could just imagine her, to me she has long, straight brown hair, with Ron's blue eyes and Hermione's stunning and apealing personality. I loved the book, it's in my top 5!
I was totally expecting to cry my eyes out. But once I read the last sentence, this huge smile spread across my face and I couldn't stop it. It was one of the greatest feelings.
it was not my favourite book in the series, but it was still harry potter and still amazing
I loved this book, but I find it hard to assess each book individually as they all tell one continous story. I wish a few things had been clarified but I assume that whatever was missing was not of vital importance. I hope that Luna continued to be a part of Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron and Neville's lives as she cared for them so much. I still can't believe that of all the characters I cried the most for Snape. I doubt we have been friends, but loving someone despite the fact they didn't love you back and giving up your life for them was the biggest sacrifice made by anyone in any of the books.
Loved the book, hated the epilogue. Albus Severus Potter! I don't understand. Why does Harry hate his children? How could Ginny consent to names like that? There are too many loose ends. Who managed to perform magic late in life? What were the Potters occupations? What was the significance of Harry's green eyes? I mean it can't be that they contrast so magnificently with Voldemort's. Does anyone know where the cover art on the American book jacket comes from? What scene is depicted? And where the hell are the missing 25 pages? They said that there would be 784 pages not 759?
The best story book by far. Everything was incredible but im going to have to agree that the epilogue was disappointing. Defintely a great ending to a classic series.
I was so anxious for the book and I read it so fast!!! I couldn't take myself away from it! I was disappointed with the Epilogue...I thougth we would find out more about what they were up to. Is Harry an Auror, what did Hermione pursue? There are still a lot of un answered questions. It really has taken me a day or so to let everything sink in. Having Harry being a part of my life for almost a decade, I feel a sense of loss. I could't have hope for a more exciting finish to the most wonderful literature series ever.
I loved this book. The epilogue is a way to satisfy the readers curiosity of what eventuly hapens to the main characters, and even though not all or our questions were answered,I believe it was satisifying . True there were many deaths but, doesn't that happen in a battle? Not everything ends in happily ever after. I am happy it happened that way for the 3 characters we have all grown to love.
I laughed, I cried, I cheered. It was, as usual, great!
Come on, guys! Who did magic later in life? RON! He spoke Parseltounge! She never said it would be someone who had never done magic before! He just performed a different kind :)
Deahthly Hallows was really dark, gloomy, and without much comic relief, it became a rather depressing read, especially when you have become attatched to so many of the characters as I have, only to have them be killed off. This final book is definetly not my favorite, but I am actually content with the way JK wrapped up the end of the series, even though she still left a few questions unanswered. The only thing that I am not pleased with at all about the book, was Severus... I loved that man so much. But I actually liked the epiloge. Yes, it did sound a bit like a fanfiction, but I really enjoyed the sentimental quality of Harry and Ginny's son's name: Albus Severus. I believe I woke my mother up with my sobbing at that part. Overall, the book was amazing! JK outdid herself with this one, and I really hope that she will answer all our remaining questions soon!
WOW! I am still in shock! I only have a few questions, you know- like DID the EVER discover mad-eye's body, and since Harry is Teddy's godfather, and Tonks and Lupin are dead, shouldn't he live with Harry? But he doesn't, from the sound of it, so who does he live with? But besides that- it was the best book i have ever read. Harry potter- I grew up with it! And now, its over, but It will continue to be with me forever. J.K.R. is my hero! No corrections- wonderful job J.K!
NOTE: BIG SPOLIER COMMENT!! JK ROWLING WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL! I'm not saying that I didnt like the book, it was my favorite one! But what was the point of killing Hedwig, Mad-eye, Fred, and Colin?!?! I know it was a war, but still! But other than that, it was amazing! I really wish Teddy would have had one of his parents survive...... I also thought someone would do magic late in life, or did I just overlook something? And what was Dudlys worst memory? Otherwise AMAZING
I finished the book at 3 am this morning. I sobbed the entire way through. I must say, however, I was extremely pleased with myself since I've been saying about snape's love for lily for since book 5. smile.gif I lovvvvvvvvvved that harry got to walk along his family and sirius once more. I was crying pretty hard at that part. He really did follow the hero's journey from beginning to end. I liked that Molly called Bellatrix a girl. That was great, but I wish it would have been Neville to kill her bc it would have been fitting. Speaking of Neville, I adored that he was such an authority figure! FINALLY! Dumbledore... wow! I never saw any of that coming and I must admit that at the point of his "betrayal" to Harry ( scene with him telling snape, harry must die) I hated him with everything in me. Grew to like him again at the end, he is much more human now! Crazy part... him in limo with harry and baby voldy... insanity! Cannot believe Tonk and Lupin died. Harry became Sirius minus the whole, you know, dying thing lol. I so wish she would have told us more in the epilogue....careers, weddings, what happened to other major characters (george for example, did he continue the joke shop without fred?), etc. She also never told us what the Potters did for a living! I was really really really looking forward to that. sad.gif All in all, I loved the book more than anything I can say. Dudley made me cry in chapter 1-2. ahhh just thinking about some of this stuff gets me really emotional! Snape is by far one of my favorite literary characters ever, which I probably would not have said a few weeks ago. I hope you all enjoyed the book as much as I did. Second reading starts tonight! Harry Potter was definitely worth the last 10 years of my life! clap.gif -Michelle
Ahaha, I just remembered. One of my favorite parts of the finaly battle was Trelawney, throwing her crystal ****... That made me crack up.
Great book...in my opinion it's the best of the series....i loved the whole King's Cross chapter.....I'm first off ecstatic that HARRY LIVED!!! Second I was happy to see Harry buck up and start calling Voldemort Tom Riddle....The whole Dumbledore part of the book was brilliant because it showed that even Dumbledore had his own problems and that he was not perfect. I think that part of the book made me like Dumbledore even more. The Battle scenes were great(though i saw no reason for Collin's death) It was great to finally see the mystery unravel. And to everyone: HA HA I WAS RIGHT; HARRY REALLY WAS A HORCRUX!!!!
That was absolutely the best book I have ever read!! There are still some things that weren't answered, but as a whole, it was an incredible book.
Well I guess that sadly fanfiction will have to fill in the holes of the epilogue1 Oh gosh...it's just that I can't believe it's REALLY over!
DH was AMAZING. it was all action in my eyes. it was explanation, then action. i'm so sad that it ended so soon. i felt that it was finished, but there's always that longing for more. this book made me cry, w/ all the AWWWW's and GASPs and YAYs! and NOOOs!
i like how harry was the 7th horcrux, so now emerson can kick himself for telling everyone that they're wrong. anyway, overall the book was great. hedwig's & dobby's death effected me the most. AND I WANT TO KNOW WHO DRACO ENDED UP MARRYING!! WAS IT PANSY??? we also never found out what dudley saw when the dementors came, and the resemblence with harry's & lily's eyes was way too vague and not what i thought it was going to turn out to be. i really need to re-read the book, because in some parts i was just way too confused. the epilogue was kind of crappy. i thought she was going to write and ACTUAL epilogue, where it had like a paragraph on each character. i really want to know what draco's done & who he married and etc. not just the trio. oh well. it was still a pretty good book, and it saddens me that it's almost an end of an amazing era.
I do agree that the Deathly Hallows shouldn't have been introduced and a lot of things were left open. AND WHAT HAPPENED TO LUNA?! I wish the epilogue was longer. I feel like I am missing part of the book or something! R.I.P Mad-Eye, Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Snape, and George's ear Oh! And how come we never find out how Lupin and Tonks actually die? Or did we?.....
It was freakin' AWESOME!!! I liked the epilogue. I about cried when I realized that he named his son after Dumbledore and Snape. Yes, there are things that she left out, but I really liked the book over all. I cannot believe it's over though...
i still dont get wat that baby thing was in kings cross..but overall... BEST EFFING BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely loved it!!! I Loved when Hermione and Ron finally got together. I aslo couldn't believe it when Ron left...I knew he'd come bac though. It was that stupid locket's fault. I love how it ended...I was so scared when I thought Harry died. OMG!!!...I hated all the deaths...poor Fred:( I also loved how Neville took a stand...he was great. And I knew Snape was good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! I didn't really like the epilogue though either, I want to know everybodys jobs...and what happened to everyone else...and just so much more about all of their lives. I wish J.K.R. would write just one more book!
Snape should have lived....other than that, magical!
I thought it was awesome...but I have a few questions... what did harry's parents do for a living? what did harry, ron, hermione and ginny end up doing? Anyway...I always knew snape was going to be good and I am glad harry didn't die. I actually cried for snape, which I never thought I would ever do. I was glad harry saved malfoy's life and I was a little disappointed in the way wormtail died. I thought he'd play a bigger role. Hm...what else...I dont know. I just really liked it. I loved that Dudley kind of made up for himself in this book. And I was sad Hedwig died...I grabbed the stuffed hedwig on my bed when that happened. I think I was most saddened by Snape's and Fred's deaths. Overall I just loved the books. PoA is still my favorite, and then HBP, but I dont know after that. They are all so good. I just cant believe its over...after 10 years of reading new Harry Potter books. :(
Okay, I really was against Harry-the-Horcrux idea, but I was proved wrong. I knew it wasn't intentional, though. And I always knew Snape was the good guy, but I started to doubt when Hogwarts was going down the tube. I actually liked the epilogue, because I thought it would be like reading a history book, but it was a real story. I really am dissapointed that she didn't close some loose ends up, but it would have doubled the size of the book.
Have to admit I was a little dissapointed.
I absolutely loved the book. I could have done witha bigger epilogue, or none at all. It was kind of a waste.
wow....that was amazing.... the epilogue was stupid plain and simple, and the writing wasn't even the same, it didn't sound like her at all.
can't beleive its all over...id like a series about the kids, but im guessing thats not gonna happen. at least we still have the movies...after that, I dunno what we'll do =[
it was down right spectacular...no one but jk could have done anything close to this..i wish we got to see the spouses of the teachers and harrys life after the story...but maybe we will in time..i was soo proud of neville and ginny and luna..they created their own trio of awsomeness! great books..all of them..now im excited for the movies!!
Simply amazing. I loved almost every minute. This has no tied with OotP as my favorite book in the series. I couldn't believe all the deaths (especially Hedwig and Dobby), and I cried when Snape died. But I did get to prove my friends wrong- they all claimed Snape was evil, and my entire theory was that Snape killed Dumbledore on his orders, and he acted like a git to protect his cover as a spy (there -were- Death Eater kids at Hogwarts), and he protected Harry because he loved Lily. I did cry when he died, but he'll be happier in death. I did find the epilogue to be a bit cheesy- especially Lily, James, and Albus. But it was still amazing and I loved every bit of it!!
