this is such great news! i know it will probably be a few years until she even begins putting all her notes together but i'm extremely excited to find out details of both major and minor character in the potterverse :) as for arthur weasley getting a reprieve, i know i would've been heartbroken if he died in book5 but i can't help thinking that i would rather have fred survive than his father :/ i wonder which 2 characters died in place of arthur though?

potterinn there was direct mention of "the eyes" because when Snape is dieing he looks Harry directly in the eyes, because they were so like the Lily's..... thus the eyes were the whole reason Snape did everything for Harry!!!! AHHh encyclopedia... I just need more Harry Potter in my life!!!

Gosh, I remember reading OotP for the first time, scared to death that Arthur was going to die from that snake bite! I was certain he was the book 5 death until I actually finished it... I feel somewhat vindicated, and relieved. Arthur is one of my favorite characters.

Mrs_Moony - My thoughts exactly. Don't get me wrong; I absolutely love Arthur! But it's so sad that both Lupin and Tonks died right when they had their first child. If Arthur had died, I wonder if they would have buried him with some spark plugs? :) As for the Encyclopedia, HALLELUJAH!!!! This has completely made my day!!!! I've been in sort of a deep-rooted depression these past few days but this has definitely made me feel tons better!!!! THANK YOU JO!!!! I hope there will be another midnight party!

After reading I thought the reprieve was Ron or Hermione, I didn't think both would survive. I thought Voldemort would eventually capture one to lure Harry there. I thought Hermione would die at Godrics Hollow or at Malfoy's. Though I saw the Deluxe Cover art and the U.K. chidlrens Art so I knew she wouldn't die until that happened! Arthur Weasley, meh I couldn't care less for him. Though I was kind of disappointed that nothing happened to Luna in the epilouge. Hopefully we will find out in this!

knowing that she's going to write an encyclopedia makes the epilogue seem much more satisfying in terms of the harry potter series itself. if she had tried to conclude all of the backstory at the end of DH it would have felt too forced and i doubt it would have fit very well. i'm very thankful she's decided to write it.

Does anyone agree, she has to write HOGWARTS: A HISTORY! I've been dying to read that one!!! She should do it for charity like the other school books...

I c-cant beleive it! I'm so happy!!!! and arthur! omg! i'm so glad she didn't kill him! i wonder who died that she wasn't plannin' on... :D:D:D i'm so happy. (i've pushed my sorrow for the people who've died in DH away to a tiny corner in my head. some may call it denial, i call it... it cant've happened. I must've gotten a book w/ a typo in it.)

there are quite a few things that i thought were really cool about the book.....one is when Kreacher is leading the house elves from the Kitchens of Hogwarts and was like "Fight. Fight. Fight the Dark Lord." and all that good stuff....also i thought it was really cool when Harry came out of his Invisibility Cloak and was all like "You just don't get it do you Riddle." and "Should I tell you something before you make another big mistake"...It was freaking awesome to see Harry not scared of Voldemort anymore and calling him Tom Riddle. I loved the book.

Sweet. Exactly what we need. Can't wait to find out what becomes of George.

thank god...this is amazying news im like really sad after finishing the book (great book though) cuz i only have 2 movies 2 look forward 2 it and no more books but with this i have at least 1 more midnight release coming up

these books turned out to be a most wonderful read and I especially liked the final book...epilogue and all!! Few observations tho' that I wish were in HPDH... The cave. I have to agree with Red Hen that the cave was much much older than Voldermort, that he used it for his purposes. So, did he create that army of Inferi or were they there already and how does one 'kill' Inferi? What happened to them? Secondly, wouldn't Severus be in the portrait behind the headmaster's chair in the end. He was the last Hogwarts Headmaster to die. Harry and Ginny even recognized him as a great HM 19 years later? Thirdly, the Dursleys. Petunia is Harry's last link to his mother. Tuny and Lily were so close at one time. Ya think they and Harry finally came to some closure on all of that? How about Umbridge..what the heck happened to her? I hope she got what she deserved!! and lastly, the Horcruxi.. They were those great founders artifacts. Think maybe they ended up in the HM office as a reminder of what absolute power can do to one's soul?

Just... so... incredibly... THANKFUL!!!!!!! I don't care how long I have to wait I'm just so glad it's not over!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this encyclopedia turns into an actual book/novel....then i'll actually go and get it and maybe at midnight.

I was feeling VERY sad about Harry Potter today... coming out of the fog from reading Book 7 and whatnot, but this is the most fabulous news I could have hoped for! and so soon! I figured she would wait a while before even commenting on an encyclopedia-type book, but she has given us something to look forward to so soon! Thank you, Jo!!! and for all your hard work on all the other books, but I said that somewhere else, too!
