Potter most re-read novels in UK
Potter most re-read novels in UK According to BBC News, a survey conducted found that the Harry Potter novels are the most re-read books in the United Kingdom.

J.K. Rowling's series beat out JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, which came in second and third place, respectively.

The survey also found that almost a fifth of readers read their favorite book more than five times and roughly 77% of UK readers re-read books overall.

Posted by HPmeg0013 Nov 8th 2007

WHY aren't they the # 1 most read books EVERYWHERE!?! come on step it up people! haha GO HP!

Posted by AuntieEm2 Nov 8th 2007

They should have a US poll. I mean, I don't live in the UK, but I've read those books SO MANY times. This just goes to show the skill of Jo's writing- people will go back and reread to find new meanings.

Posted by Ginny311 Nov 8th 2007

Well yeah! I've re-read them and re-re-read them too!

Posted by Firebolt7 Nov 8th 2007

Posted by Lady_of_the_Dark_March Nov 8th 2007

Commendable!! To have beat Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy AND Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Jo's has something to congratulate herself on. I applaud her.

"who cares???????" Agreed. asthe LOTR books were written so long ago compared to how recent hp is its not fair to compare them and speaks more for the current popularity of the books then the quality...congrats jo...

daniel_radcliffe_is_my_hu sband- sorry,but you're out of luck. i'm on dan's list.

Posted by ginerva_weasley Nov 8th 2007

psh, i've read the series 18 times all the way through. PoA 31 times.

Posted by Kraize Nov 8th 2007

Yah I've definitely read them all through at least 7 times easy. And for LOTR, honestly for me I could never re-read those books even once, they were good and all, but just not something i'd ever go back to twice. Only 8 books I've read that are worth re-reading, and 7 of them are HP obviously XD

Posted by Jarlie Nov 8th 2007

if you've re-read, all the Harry Potter books (too many times to count), LotR (twice), and Pride and Prejudice (many-a-time) does that make you a complete nerd or completely awesome? ... awesome i think. Go Harry you sexy bugger!

I think they're the most re-read books in the US too. :)

Posted by rooon Nov 8th 2007

I've read the hp books to many times to count, i live in the us.

Posted by Roonil Nov 8th 2007

I've read the HP books way more times than is completely sane. But I do sometimes miraculously find new things in the books sometimes. Like a phrase that I had misread the first 25 times I'd read a certain book. Hahaha. >>> Jarlie - I've reread LOTR as well, 3 times. I think we're just awesome. :P

Posted by iheartmugglecast Nov 8th 2007

Of course! I don't know how many times I've read each Harry Potter book. but I'm sure it's more than five. I love them so much- I find new things every time I read them! And especcially since the last book is out, I can look back and think "Wow- I'm very stupid!" lol =)

Bad news, Harry. I've just been to see Professor McGonagall about the Firebolt. She — er — got a bit shirty with me. Told me I'd got my priorities wrong. Seemed to think I cared more about winning the Cup than I do about you staying alive. Just because I told her I didn't care if it threw you off, as long as you caught the Snitch first.
