First Official Still from Half-Blood Prince
Warner Brothers has released the first official picture from Half-Blood Prince, depicting Harry entering a room while clutching the Marauder's Map and a potion book.As a reminder, our Half-Blood Prince movie section is filled with information concerning the latest filming and cast news.
Additionally, Warner Bros. has released the official description of the film:
"Fantasy Adventure. Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn’t counted on Romilda Vane’s chocolates! And then there’s Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again."

This is so exciting!! I was actually just wondering the other day when we'd get the first official picture. It makes sense to have it around now because it was around a year before that we got the first OOTP pictures.

I've always thought the odd-numbered HP movies were the best....but now I think that trend will change!

Great synopsis, this movie is when the wizard war really starts, and I hope David Yates, makes sure to represent that well.
um... nobody's commenting on the official description. I've got to say, the first part was great, but the second half? Hermione does not "simper with jealousy"! How can they even say that? I suppose they mean that part when she talks about asking McLaggen out, but I don't like the sound of this at all. *crosses arms and glares at WB* they're making it out to sound like a stupid soap opera, and it's NOT!!!!! (Although I did like the very end ... "As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one." that's a little funny ... but not enough to make up for the butchering of the rest of it!

Hmm looks promising. I'm not going to get my hopes up though, the films destroy everything vital and excellent about the books (erm like Ron's role but that's another topic). Heck the films didn't even cast the Gaunts, Hepzibah, AND the ministers. How are the films going to xplain the major horcruxes?! And yes the cuts are true. I saw it at leaky.
And yes member_of SPEW I agree with you about Hermione her reactions to the relationship. It's disgusting what they did to her (and Ron!!!!) This is why I never take too much stock in the films because they always turn into a dissapointment in the end for those of us who love the characters and situations of the books. Does anyone agree with me that the films don't deerve to be up there with LOTR, they completely went off course in the important parts.

Oh my. A picture already?! YESSSS ! :) I like the potions book ! I love how it's all tattered and stuff. Very nice. The picture looks like a picture you'd find in Prisoner of Azkaban! I'm a little disappointed with his hair ? It's sorta short, but he still looks great =)
His hair looks better than it did in OotP, and slightly better than it did in GoF. I AM fond of shaggy hair tho, so i did like that. but third movie hair beats them ALL!!! the description was very well written. I'm glad theyre getting somewhere with the movie!!! :D

I guess they've officially abandoned having them wear cloaks. If Harry doesn't wear them to class, I doubt anyone will wear them at all.

Great. The review seems to cover the main plot of the book well - even Romilda Vane. Can't think of anything else to add there. I've decided to set my expectations for this movie as high as they were low for Order of the Phoenix. I trust Yates. I hope I don't end up as disappointed as when I saw Goblet of Fire. (That sounded SO emo!)

Yes, it SOUNDS like its true to the books but usually it never is. My bet is that a good portion of the film will either be filled with kiddie humour (and my god, you'd THINK they'd move to a more mature audience but no they still want the toddlers to go see Nigel fall again) and the useless dragon chasing seqences and drawn out boring stuff. I'm praying to god that whoever said the synopsis meant 'simmering' and not simpering. Seriously Hermione does Not simper, that's PANSY's job. I have to agree once more with member of spew and say that the romancey part of the movie will be soap opera ish. I can just picture Ron and Lavender having a row about his true love when up up and away goes Lavender Brown screaming her bloody lungs out with the necklace on her person. Chances are they took out Katie for that, and it would make it dramatic. *is dissapointed.

I personally thought OOTP was horrible, by far my least fav, they didn't stick near to the story at all, I hope Yates doesn't butcher HBP, because its actually one of my favorite books in the series. Yates seems to care more about their emotions than he does the actuall plot, and the plot is what makes the story so amazing in the first place. The hair is still too short, i picture harry with shaggy hair like on the American book covers... i wonder what Ginny's gonna look like, i hope she doesn't look like she's 7 as she does in the other movies..
They need to make him look like he went thro puberty, i know i know, he poor with no money. but still, i need him to look like a 16 year old! he still looks like hes in the 4th movie!

Sorry, if I sound over excited, but this has been the best thing that has had happened in the past 3 hours, because I fell on a volleyball net while playing with my friends, got my finger stuck in a door, ran into one of my friends, and I am the short one so I got chinned in the head as we hit, and I have been tackled 3 times, and no, we were not playing American football.
