JKR awarded at South Bank Show awards
JKR awarded at South Bank Show awards Jo Rowling has been awarded with an outstanding achievement prize at the UK's The South Bank Show awards which recognize British achievement in music, theatre, television and the arts.

The author mentioned that finishing Harry Potter "has been the worst break-up of my life - far worse than splitting up with any man. But it has also been wonderful to stop and draw breath and think, 'My God, look what's happened with an idea I had 17 years ago on a train'."

The awards will be broadcast on 3 February on ITV1 at 2240 GMT.

Check out some pics of Jo, looking wonderful, at the award ceremony at Getty.

UPDATE: Sky News video interview with Jo here and her acceptance speech here.

Posted by Mugglemom2 Jan 29th 2008

Jo is so awesome! It is unbelievable that an entire universe has been brought about by that idea on the train. Hmm, if she still so sad about HP ending, she should just get working on that encyclopedia...

Posted by tiassa Jan 29th 2008

Congratulitions! She deserves it all. And she looks as good as always

Posted by muggle_magic Jan 29th 2008

Yay! She deserves this award. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! !!

Posted by ILoveAlanRickman Jan 29th 2008

Its great that Jo won this award! But my only complaint is that it is being shown in ITV, which means that us Americans won't be able to see it, just like the documentary...

Posted by ryroandhobo Jan 29th 2008

HA! she's SO going to win that award. she's the most awesome author in the world!

Posted by Luna_Lover_10 Jan 29th 2008

Good job J.K!!! Ur soooo gonna win it! Theres nobody thats better than you! **--- Luna ---**

Posted by i_am_nagini_777 Jan 29th 2008

I was thinking about how Americans can't see all of these amazing programs, and I had the best- the b-e-s-t- idea: a MuggleNet TV station!

Posted by CROOKSHANKS99 Jan 29th 2008

YAY! Jo totally deserves it! :)

Posted by warlocksandmuggwumps Jan 29th 2008

yeah, she does deserve it, she's put a lot of years into these books and harry, congratulations J.K.R.!

Posted by asira Jan 29th 2008

Awesome!! She still sad about finishing the books. She just needs to write something, like that encyclopedia.

Posted by NicoleM Jan 29th 2008

Congrats Jo! Her outfit is very cute; she looks great. You can still see it in her eyes that she is still sad, but you can you blame her? I'm still mourning over the ending of Harry Potter and I'm not sure I'll ever truly stop. I'm a bit scared that the encyclopedia will be published in ten years. I'll be, probably, married and with children by then!

Posted by rowlover Jan 29th 2008

Awwwww. I love jkr..... no really? :P

Posted by trueligth Jan 29th 2008

I do not think Jo is the only one who is sad, that only think I hope the encyclopedia is made soon and have more information about the characther in the book.

Posted by emma_sophia Jan 30th 2008

Word cannot express how much i love JKR. I love her so much ohmygod she is amazing

Posted by HPFANTimothy Jan 30th 2008

Congratulations Jo! But, I'm not too sure whether I like your outfit ;l

Posted by magiclover Jan 30th 2008

saying good bye to harry potter wasn't only hard for Jo I think it was hard for all of us .for me it was more then saying good bye to a book, it was saying good bye to what I lived with and what I loved (and will always love)for five years and even though I know it's over I will never be able to say a true good bye to it and I would like to thank the person that made it all happen and tell her that she has made a huge difference in my life with her amazing books and congratulate her for the awards that she has gotten because she deserves it all

Posted by trustsnape7 Jan 30th 2008

I like the grammar for the title. "Award" is a transitive verb...JK awarded WHAT? It's understood, but grammatically it is not the best.

Posted by tiassa Jan 30th 2008

Lots of vids-GOOD
