Study finds 'Potter' can be addicting
As if anyone needed to tell us this, MTV published an article earlier today about research concluding that the Harry Potter series can in fact be addicting. The story notes:In a just-finished study that's being submitted to the Journal of General Psychology, psych professor Dr. Jeffrey Rudski and two of his undergrad students at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, report that they found characteristics of addiction in at least 10 percent of the 4,000 Potter fans they polled online.
While the doctor discusses that the end of the series did have serious withdrawal symptons for some, likening it to going off a drug "cold turkey," he also said he chose to do the study on the end of the boy wizard's saga over the conclusion of the hit series The Sopranos because of his 15-year old daughter and the things she's taken from it:
"She's picked up guitar because she wants to be in a wizard-rock band," he said. "She's studying Latin because she wants to better understand J.K. Rowling's choices of names for her characters. She started reading Stephen King and John Irving because they spoke with Rowling at Radio City two summers ago." If that's being an addict, he's down with it.

um......... well, that was interesting.... of course it is a addicting. but i personally don't find that it is at all in a bad way... i mean if you try to split your soul, yeah okay, but other wise.... lol :~}
just for clarification, tiassa wasn't saying I was in the hospital, but that her friend was. I read the first two sentances and was confused, lol. i've had the flu but not been in the hospital :-) i hope she's ok tiassa, I've fainted in school before too and it's not fun xp

i know wht some ppl are feeling though. i was like, i lost a part of my life because i was so used to either reading a new book or looking forward toa new book. not that i like hate rowling now, shes amazing, its just been such a big phenominoen. anyways, i deal with my withdrawl by reading fan fictions =] it might not be jk rowling, but atleast its something :]

k havnt read evryone's comments, but im pretty sure they all say that OF COURSE WE ARE ADDICTED TO HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im offened if some one even dares to criticize j.k. rowling or the series itself! i mean why on earth wud u not want to read this series, and how cud u not love it!? it sends every right message that there is in the world and YOU WUD HAVE TO HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM TO NOT BE ADDICTED TO THE MAGNIFICENT HARRY POTTER SERIES!!!!!!! I'm sorry but personally I don't think that I'm "addicted" to Harry Potter! I mean who hasn't read all of the books, right? Who hasn't seen all of the movies, you feeeling me? Who haven't purchased all of the dvd's and made sure that they got the two disc version so that you can watch all of the deleted scenes, holla if you hear me? Who haven't purchased all of the audio books with the great Grammy award winning narrator Jim Dale keeping me entertained by listening to them over and over and over again while I sit at my boring job, you down with this? Who is not going to plan yearly family trips down to florida when the theme park opens, you see what i'm sayin? So me, addicted, lol don't make me laugh out loud!

Yeah Emi_5, i agree we don't need a report of that,we already know cause we are truly obsessed with Harry Potter. That is why we go nuts over everything Harry Potter. I read another report about this somewhere today,and i just think it's a waste of time for scientist to study about that when it is know Harry Potter is addicting,and i am one of the people who have the biggest addiction of Harry Potter. I have to say this also Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone is on in America tonight on ABC Family at 7:30 Eastern time,just in case any didn't know. So i will spend my time watching Harry Potter for 3 and half hours tonight yeyyyyyy. I am excited cause it's been awhile since ABC Family has had Harry Potter on.
MUHA! Of course it is addicting! Why would we have a complete website dedicated to it eh? Haha that guys needs to read the books ...... if he doesnt i will cruciate his face!
