The online retailer promised they would work on some plans, and today they've announced a new contest that will let you fly to London and read the tales yourself! For more details on how to enter (you must be 13 or older), click here! Good luck to everyone who enters, and thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

That's awesome! and i know this annoys some people but...first!! =]
What. The. Hell. What kind of questions are those?! "What songs to Wizards play on their birthdays?" I don't know!
Thats really cool!!! Wish I could think of a good answer to one of those questions!!!

SO COOL! Good luck to everybody!
Wow. Those questions are tricky.... This is going to be hard!!! = ) ~Myrtle~
"100 words or less" Are you kidding me? That's it? Man, that makes it even harder to answer; there's barely room to explain anything. Oh, well. Question: I feel like a dork asking, but why is it called the 'Ballad Writing Contest' if it wants us to right an essay? Maybe I just read something wrong. ^_^
this makes me all giddy inside! : ))) except... im not creative at. all!
doesnt ballad mean song? is that a hint to write a song?
this is great! altho i agree these are odd questiions
finally a harry potter contest for us older kids!! i mean...i grew up with these books but the contests are always for kids that weren't even born when they came out!
Omg, omg, omg, omg!!!!!! I'm so excited!!! I really hope a Mugglenet reader wins. I wish I was poetic, so I could write the song, but I think I'll write about Harry Potter has effected my life instead. Good luck to all!

OMG this is awesomeee! I'm totally going to write a Happy Birthday song! the ?s are kinda laaaame, but whatever, i'm still entering! AHHH I LOVE THISS
Awesome! A contest I can finally enter... I know what I'll be working on during my 10+ hour plane flight in a couple days!
This is just a waste of my time! People could be reading the Harry Potter books again instead of taking part of this stupid contest!
It isn't a waste of time if youre the winner It would be very much worth it if you could read Tales of Beedle the Bard. And I am entering the contest. I know it's not likely that I will have even a fraction of a chance of winning, but I will at least have a chance if I enter. It's better than nothing.
oh man! its for only over 13!! thats DUMB they arent TRUE fans!!!!!
Lol Gregorama what do you mean you're bringing Doritos?
What's a mailing address?? =\
Cool! I wish I was better at writing but I'll try to enter anyway.
OMG! This is soo cool! It would amazing to read, I mean, Jo actually touched it! I would try to enter, but the link isn't working for me. ): Oh well, at least I have an overview of them, but still!
A MAILING ADDRESS IS WHERE YOU LIVE e.g. 01 fake street faketown UK G82 2JF
this sucks. my country isnt on the list.
Great. More homework for me on the weekend, and I already have an essay to do. X_X Oh well, this one could be worth it. :)
I am SO glad to see a contest for someone my own age! Wh00t! Doubt I'll be picked but I sure entered.
WOW, well It'll be cool for the people who get to see the book and whatever, I probably wont be picked but its a good idea anyway :)
OMG i am soooo mad!!! excluding qubec wtf??? well yeah good luck to those who CAN enter :(
I wrote a really fun short essay about a wizarding birthday song. I've got an extended version of abut 150 to 200 words saved on my computer now. I had to cut a bunch of details to get it down. I can't believe they're choosing based half on writing style. You can't get an idea of someone's writing style in less than a hundred words. And I'll try to be helpful here: THIS IS NOT A TRIVIA QUIZ! This is for showing off your creativity. If for option one, make up a song and write about it. I think the only songs in the books are the Hogwarts anthem, Odo the Hero, three or four Sorting Hat songs, and the clue egg's song. There are more, but none for birthdays. I'm just glad it's open to adults as well. In separate divisions. And is anybody taking options two or three?
EverettChronos... What did you write about, like, did you write a song, or about a song you made up, or abour birthdays in the book? I think the questions are, well, not hard but just too vague.
no Portugal... :( it's not that far from the UK and there are tons of low-cost flights from here; it wouldn't cost more to Amazon than most of those other countries... we never get to do anything Potter-related here. '-,- (official stuff, I mean.)
Lol Gregorama what do you mean you're bringing Doritos? I'm guessing folks in about every part of the world have these very popular & salty tortilla chips covered with orange nacho cheese flavored powder. Anyhoo... if you've ever had them... well, you get Cheeto Fingers. (not desirable while reading a four million dollar piece of literature) And if you don't have Cheetos in your country, then no wonder the American Economy is slumping.
nooooooooooooooooo way dude
?
Even by a long stretch, if I miraculously won, I would never let my parents agree to let me go...=(
whoops! Obviously I meant: I would never be ABLE to let my parents to agree...:p
I entered and I think I did ok I know I would never win but if I did my parents said they would let me go I hope I win. Cause Harr yPotter means more to me than anyone can ever know.
That's awesome. I want to enter but I'm out of ideas. I could do the 3rd one but it wouldn't be creative and would be way too long. maybe I'll try the 2nd... I probably won't win, but best of luck to everyone!
This really makes me angry. I HATE JKR for doing this. its really biotchy of her. "lets make a book EVERYONE wants to read..tell them about it, and NOT give it to them" i am so mad.
I wish I'd win! Of course I doubt my writing could outshine all those smart people in the fandom, but whattheheck it is reaaally worth a shot so I'll try.
As much as I love JKR, I do have to agree with Lydia_13 in a sense... Of all the souvenirs JKR could give to the people who helped her the most while writing Potter, why would she pick one that so clearly dismisses all the millions of fans, who have been loyal to her and to her her work for so long? I feel betrayed. I know I wasn't there like those six "special" people, but I would have been if I had the chance. I don't care for handwritten stuff and jewels much; I just want to read the book. I'm sure it's an amazing piece of writing and I can't understand why she won't publish it.
I wrote about a song I thought wizards would sing at birthdays. The lyrics include a spell that does something cool and birthday related. But I also think Wizards would be fine singing "Happy Birthday," because Warner Music Group owns the rights to the song, and Warner Bros. owns the film rights to Rowlingian magic. The questions are vague to let your creativity out.
