BBC captures aerial view of Leavesden Studios
BBC captures aerial view of Leavesden Studios UPDATE: It looks like the video was removed from the BBC.

In lieu of Half-Blood Prince trailer news, BBC is feeding our craving by providing some interesting video shots of Leavesden Studios via helicopter. Leavesden has been used to film most interior and exterior Potter scenes since the beginning of the franchise.

The aerial shots provide a glimpse at several outdoor sets, including Privet Drive, Hagrid's Hut, the Hogwarts Express - Hogwarts station, an entrance to Hogwarts, and one end of a Quidditch pitch.

Additionally, there are several sets that cannot be identified from recognition in past Potter films. Possibilities include the Gaunt's House (CBBC's guess), a part of The Orphanage, and The Burrow.

Watch the video and sound off with your ideas in the comments! Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip.

Posted by snapeluver1777 May 6th 2008

very cool 7

Posted by kpo9876 May 6th 2008

Very cool. It's like a train set, complete with village and train.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 6th 2008

Wow! Rockage Totalia! *translates to "That totally rocks!!!"* Very exciting video.

Posted by Dumbledore_will_live_as_long_as_you_are_loyal May 6th 2008

This is the best video yet. Hope they don't cut too many scenes cause that would be a waste of this excellent set.

Posted by chidarkcy May 6th 2008

yeiii!! the set is amazinngggg!! i wonder what was the chapel or idk what was one of the last structures (the narrow one)... and the first structure, i think is the burrow no the gaunt's, but maybe they decided to include them at the end...

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 6th 2008

I KNOW WHAT THE LAST, NARROW STRCUTURE IS!! Its the bridge @ Hogwarts that the Horntail smashes through!!! Pause the Video and look closely @ it!!!!

Posted by HPfan4eva111 May 6th 2008

sweet, makes more excited for HBP!! yay!

Posted by angelina_johnson92 May 6th 2008

This video was good, but I saw it on Leaky like, 2 hours ago. I can not wait for HBP.

Posted by HarGin7 May 6th 2008

The set at 1.23 looks like SPINNERs END to me!!!!

Posted by twilighttrishh May 6th 2008

Wow! That's amazing! =D I'm so happy to see all the wonderful Harry Potter sets still there. It's surreal! Darn. They do a great job.

Posted by Deana May 6th 2008

Wow! Do you think the BBC is allowed to do this?

Posted by shortcutie1251 May 6th 2008

the really narrow thing right before they show the train is from previous movies. its the bridge that harry stood on when lupin told him he knew his parents, and the same bridge cedric told harry about the egg, and the same bridge with the emphamis(sp) line from OOTP when they are comming back from hogsmead(sp) and ron says to hermionie "who are you and what have you done with hermionie"

Posted by the_patronus_seeker May 6th 2008

kinda different from how u c it in the movies, wierd but COOL!!

Posted by KaitlinM May 6th 2008

haha very sneaky, seems like that shouldnt be allowed lol :)

Posted by YeahImThatGuy17 May 6th 2008

the set at 1.23 is definitely the gates out front of Hogwarts with the winged boars.

Posted by emma_holloway May 6th 2008

That's amazing. It's so huge! It's also so strange to see the structures without all the rest of the surrounded area that is added after. I think the station just in the middle of a field is particulalry odd. I love it. I'm so excited for the film!

Posted by LunaLouise May 6th 2008

The unknown structure is definitely the burrow, I think. The Gaunts shack was really that and nothing more, not an elaborate multistory house. The orphanage was in London so I would assume it not to be a standalone multistory house, they were not such a rich orphanage. I would say the burrow definitely. As for 1.23 that is indeed Hogwarts, but I would have loved to see Spinner's end. I expect it to be very similar to Privet Drive but much mire shabby and run down...

Posted by tacc1993 May 6th 2008

I'm not sure what the first picture is either. I could see it as the burrow because of the shed in the back but the stone fenced front yard makes me think it is the Gaunt house. It's really fun footage to see, especially with all the blue screens surrounding the structures.

Posted by starlette804 May 6th 2008

that video is just awesome!! it was so cool to see the set. i definitely think the first building they showed will be the gaunt's house, its way too shabby looking to be anything else, well, it could be snapes house at spinners end... hmm now im wondering lol. they previously said what the orphanage will look like and it didnt appear to be on that video. i can't wait to see the film in november!!

Posted by Fishbowl May 6th 2008

what "trailer news" are they talking about? did the trailer come ut already? I can't find it!

Posted by phoenix_fire613 May 6th 2008

Cool! I think one of those unknowns is the Burrow. It's interesting to see them as sets instead of actual places via the Big Screen. Thanks for sharing!

Posted by member_of_SPEW May 6th 2008

wow. it's so WIERD to see that there's almost no structure around most of the outdoor settings. When they're outside Hagrid's hut, the forest isn't really there! it's cool to see it this way.

Posted by honeydukes0209 May 6th 2008

Very nice video! Yup, I agree, spew...

Posted by JackSloper May 6th 2008

The one of the courtyard looking area, with the semi-circular building looks liek the tower... eh? The LIGHTNING struck tower? *shiver*

Posted by VoldiePOO_Puff May 6th 2008

that is awsome!!!! I can't wiat for HBP

Posted by hermyweasley105150 May 6th 2008

Posted by Dragon_queen4ever May 6th 2008

Wow...thats all I can say....wow

Posted by jacobs06 May 6th 2008

wow...the crew does some amzing cg to mold these sets into realistic environments. good structures too.

Posted by phoenix1946 May 6th 2008

It's nice to see that the Movie Wizards have been busy. These sets should be used in the last 3 movies. I wish my pilots license were current. We could do a photo fly-over at Universal studios. Well Done.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 6th 2008

What's the set at 1.32? Its too blurry on my computer!

Posted by HarGin7 May 6th 2008

I heard a rumour that the Gaunt part was cut from the movie, Does anyone know anything about that?? IT

Posted by HpAlwaysN4ever May 6th 2008

That is so cool! I heard the Gaunt part is being cut too but I really hope not!!

Posted by HarGin7 May 6th 2008

Its just not possible!! It would be an outrage!!!

Posted by felixfelicis888 May 6th 2008

Good stuff, EXCEPT FOR THAT STUPID BRIDGE. idk if yall saw it, but they had the bridge that they've had since POA there. NOT GOOD. Because obviously the bridge is not in the books, so this means they're using a hogwarts set unrealistic to the books! Grrr can't they get hogwarts right for once?

Posted by SEAWitch May 6th 2008

This is great. I can't wait fop HBP and DH. I think the unknown building wa Guant's house because it kind of fits the Jway K described it, but I don't remember there being a shed nearby. Maybe then it might be the borrow...? I guess we will have to just wait and see. I really hope they do not cut out any major parts of the movie... That would be really heartbreaking :(

Posted by nitrogen May 6th 2008

Agreed SEAWitch...they kinda cut the part of S.P.E.W. in GOF, i mean, it's kind of the thing that brought Ron and Hermione together in the seventh book because Ron remembered how Hermione wants the house elves to be free and protected with the same rights as Wizards and Ron remembered about Dobby; a Free Elf. (Well, this is all IMO, it's probably not true, but hey, once again, my opinion.)

Posted by trueligth May 6th 2008

I like it, it is great I can wait to see it in the movie, and I hope as muggle are able to see soon of the world of Harry Potter before it happen.

Posted by nitrogen May 6th 2008

Oh yeah, forgot to say, nice footage!

Posted by ALe_Av May 7th 2008

aaaaaah exiting!

Posted by sgarime1 May 7th 2008

This is pretty cool! Can't wait to see the movie.

Posted by DudleyCool May 7th 2008

The building at 00.15 is the Burrow, where the not-in-the-book Death Eater attack will take place. The structure at 00.31 is most likely Privet Drive although there is a possibility that it's Spinner's End. The courtyard at 01.06 is entirely new and may be a new section added on for HBP like the clocktower, wooden bridge, and stone circle that were added in POA. Or it could be a re-make of the transfiguration courtyard (where Malfoy was turned into a ferret). The structure at 01.22 is almost certainly Spinners End. Hagrids Hut is (obviously) at 01.37 The Quidditch Pitch is on the left at 01.58 02.04 shows Hogsmead Station from Order of the Phoenix. At the top of the screen is the wooden bridge that connects the clocktower courtyard to the stone circle.

Harry stared at the word "Pig," then looked up at the tiny owl now zooming around the light fixture on the ceiling. He had never seen anything that looked less like a pig.
