Half-Blood Prince to be Moaning-Less
Half-Blood Prince to be Moaning-Less Potter fansite SnitchSeeker.com caught up with the agency who represents Shirley Henderson, the actress who has played Moaning Myrtle in Chamber of Secrets and Goblet of Fire.

It was confirmed that Henderson will not be appearing in Half-Blood Prince, meaning Myrtle will not be there to console Draco before the sectumsempra scene. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

MYRTLE LIVES!!!! :)

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 14th 2008

Yeah, i almost forgot the part where the toilet-animagus calls Snape about MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!!! *facepalm* Stupid me!

Posted by fravit May 14th 2008

Didn't think she would be, so not much of a surprise.

Posted by narglelvr May 14th 2008

Why!!!!, that is upsetting she is one of my favorite minor characters

Posted by DudleyCool May 14th 2008

I can't believe how shocked everyone is. Myrtle isn't neccessary for that scene. To be honest, she isn't needed in Half-Blood Prince. She was probably the first character to get the axe. And I'm cool with it. I expected this. YOU MIGHT WANNA READ THIS TO CATCH UP ON WHAT'S IN AND WHAT'S OUT EXPECT THE FOLLOWING TO BE CUT: Voldemort asking Dumbledore for a job, the cursed pearl necklace, Dumbledore talking with the Dursleys, and Hagrid and Harry putting out the fire on Hagrid's Hut. The part where the trio overhears Draco in Knocturn Alley may go, too. Harry could first get suspicious when he overhears Draco on the train. THESE SCENES ARE CONFIRMED TO BE LEFT IN: Christmas Party, Harry and Dumbledore visiting Slughorn, some variation of "The Other Minister," Sectumsempra, Harry hiding the Prince's book in the cluttered Room of Requirement, Harry kissing Ginny (for some reason in the cluttered Room of Requirement, not the common room), Potion's class, Cave scenes, Dumbledore's death, Dumbledore's body lying in a courtyard at the base of the Astronomy Tower, Harry and Malfoy on the Train, Slughorn's memory, private meetings with Dumbledore, Romilda Vane's chocolates, Ron and Lavender kissing, and the Burrow (but with a Death Eater Attack).

noooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooo! i mean, i could forgive for this if it was the only thing. and yes, it's not really that big of a deal, i didn't even remember her being in HBP at first but what with everything else, it would be nice if we could have something from the books.

Posted by mrsronfredgeorgeweasley May 14th 2008

that stinks... but its not the end of the world. THEY BETTER NOT CUT OUT MALFOY CRYING THOUGH!!!!! lol i LOVE that part.

Posted by Moaning_Myrtle May 14th 2008

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I officially like this movie a lot less already. HMPH! ~Myrtle~

Posted by The_Oddball May 14th 2008

And... this is why I hate the films!! I go see them on the day sure, but I come out of the theatre all mad and disappointed. GRRRRR

Posted by sharkess10 May 14th 2008

why would they do that....i love moaning myrtle...aaawwww.....come back moaning myrtle, maybe they should have another person do it, but it wouldnt be the same...

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 14th 2008

The first to be cut? Apparently the Gaunts have been given the axe too. I've not heard anything about Dobby or Kreacher being in there either.

Posted by soof May 14th 2008

kyleftw826 that was so immature it made me 'lol'. As far as Mrytle being cut...I'm not shocked, but she was needed in that scene to alert Snape to the fight. I wouldn't be quite as irritated as I am right now, if they hadn't allready cut so much else out. I mean we still have six months to go and allready they've ruined some of my favorite scenes. I shouldn't be shocked though. It's not like the other movies have stayed true to the books either. *shrugs*

Posted by sweetlilthing May 14th 2008

Thats okay. It's a cut that can be made.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 14th 2008

Cuts lead to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to...POSTING YOUR TRUE FEELINGS ON MUGGLENET SO WATCH OUT David Yates!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol...

Posted by Lolaa May 14th 2008

YAY! THAT LEAVES MORE SCREEN TIME FOR CHARACTERS THAT WERE NOT EVEN IN THE BOOK..LIKE CHO CHANG! =D WHO CARES IF THEY DON'T INCLUDE THE GAUNTS AND ALL THOSE CRUCIAL PARTS??..NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT ANYWAY..AS LONG AS THEY TIME ALL THEIR TIME AND EFFORT INTO THE MAKE-OUT SCENES I'M COOL WITH IT!!=D ............... ......................... ......................... ......................... .................. * please note sarcasm* David Yates, the man who ruined the Potter films!

Posted by Fia May 14th 2008

Three cheers for David Yates, the best director ever! Absolutely guaranteed to cut out all the important parts in a book and translate it to something stupid in the movie! *heavy sarcasm* Yipee! Remember how good OotP was?

Posted by Ginny_Weasly_rocks_13 May 14th 2008

good..i HAT3E MYRTLYE shes super annoying nough said and if anyone gets pissed of at me i dont give a crap! everything htey do goes by jk and thus its ok so all is well!

Posted by GriseldatheGood May 14th 2008

They're probably going to butcher the scene and all, but I just realized we shouldn't jump to conclusions-- Myrtle's eternally twelve years old, and the actress who played her in the second movie will be quite a bit older than that by now. If, and that's a big IF, they did have Myrtle in the scene, they would need a different actress unless they had loads of makeup on her.

Posted by Marielle18 May 14th 2008

I can't believe they're not including Moaning Myrtle. She's actually a pretty big thing in this scene, too. She was the one to first hint to Harry that Draco was crying and the way that Draco finds comfort in Myrtle really shows a side of him that is deeply vulnerable. You would never think that Draco Malfoy would talk about his feelings to anyone, heck no one really even sees any emotion from him apart from satisfaction in others' suffering. How are they going to portray that now?

Posted by HPSidekick4 May 14th 2008

Sorry, but Myrtle is not important to the scene. Period. The movie isn't ruined because she is not in it. Relax. Snape will come bursting in at a random time right after Harry cast the spell and sees what he did. It even falls in line with the book, really. Snape is supposed to be looking after Malfoy in the first place. Its not out of line at all. Not only that, but it would cost more money to hire the actress to say "MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!" It doesn't make sense at all. She's is a very minor character in this book and has no use in the movie. Sorry if I came off the wrong way, but some people need to ligthen up

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 14th 2008

She was just as minor in the fourth movie. The only thing she does is tell Harry to put the egg under water. They could have had Cedric do that. Now I may have only seen the fourth movie once but was she not in there?

Posted by hedwiglives May 14th 2008

I really hope the Draco-Harry bathroom showdown is still true in the movie like in the book. Maybe he'll just walk in on him crying by himself. That'd be good enough, I guess.

Posted by Lolaa May 14th 2008

well in my opinion the movies are too flipping expensive to be just "good enough" heck no! when we come out of the theater we should be feverishly expressing how freaking good the movie was..instead of naming the things that were cut off or totally changed..

Posted by avadaKedavra_hannah May 14th 2008

oh man, i thought that she will be in the movie.. :(

Posted by Misa013 May 15th 2008

Ugh. Oh yes, lets cast a guy for a random vampire no one's going to remember, but cut Moaning Myrtle just because!! The crying scene better still be in - that was the first time I'd ever felt for Malfoy and for a fleeting second I thought he and Harry might... and then he saw Harry and fed it all up. Meh.

Posted by PrincessTonks May 15th 2008

Is the cut of the Gaunts confirmed??? I havent heard that... Either way it doesnt matter, they are ruining the movies. The Gaunts gone, Myrtle gone, Tonks and Lupin suddenly a couple in a scene that was never in the books in the first place...it all sucks. The Gaunts are needed that takes out a whole plot line for DH ***SPOILERS*** Without the Gaunts there is no horcrux in the ring, there isnt a resurection stone and ultimately the Peveral brothers dont exist. I am very close to saying screw it, JK did an amazing job with the books and I hate watching the film people screw it up so I am not going to see the movie. I dont want to see my favorite books butchered on the big screen.

Posted by Silverness May 15th 2008

I seem to recall an important line, "I've got to do it or he'll kill my family," well, not precisely those words but just about. This is important because it shows the pressure Draco's in, and who else will he be spilling this out to? I suppose they're leaving that part for the end of the book, when Dumbledore and Draco confront each other, and Draco tells him that he doesn't have any options. And as for Henderson... just because she's not going to be playing Myrtle in the movie, then who is to say that some other actress might not play her instead? Just because she's not playing her doesn't mean we won't get a Myrtle. I mean, this may be true, but not all for certain. I'll stick to WB for their final answer.

Posted by Slither May 15th 2008

OMGGGGG!!!!! NO. WB!! Mr Yates: please re-shoot that scene with shirley in it!!!!!!!! please please please, oh god please! I'm virtually on the verge of tears (which is a bit lame but my god! I wanted Myrtle to have a crush on Draco so bad!) What is their stupid reason for cutting her this time??!!! WB should give a statement saying why they cut Myrtle, I'm sure Shirley Henderson wouldn't have minded reprising her role!!! Hate hate hate this *has a temper tantrum*

Posted by Deelee May 15th 2008

NO! That was like my favourite scene in the entire book!

Posted by kerrman2004 May 15th 2008

Why am i not surprised. Ever time there is a HBP movie update, it just proves what an idiot Yates really is. First, he ruined OOTP with his lack of character development and leaving out the things that gave the movie heart e.g. St Mungos. He changed Harry/Cho, leaving way too much of their "relationship" out and didn't ruined the Ron/Hermione dynamic. Now, he's leaving out Bill and Fleur, changing Lupin and Tonks so there is no "forbidden love" argument between them and now they're changing one of Draco's coolest scenes. Why oh why is Yates allowed to conintue these movies? After OOTP, why would they even consider having him back. He just completely changes the books. Its friggin ridiculous. I miss Alfonso so much lol. Chris Columbus was ok too but his movies were a little dry and boring and had no pop. I didn't really like Mike Newell that much but at least GOF was pretty accurate compared to OOTP. Moaning Mytle isn't a big deal at all, i dont' really care about her, its just the principle of the thing! Yates continues to change things and leave stuff out and portray the characters completely differently from the books. It just p*sses me off! Anyway, thats my little rant. bye :)

Posted by kerrman2004 May 15th 2008

P.S. Actually now that i think about it, Moaning Myrtle is quite important because she's the only person Draco actually talks to about his situation, he pours his heart out to her really and shows his true colours. It shows how much pressure he's under and how upsetting it is for him, he doesn't want his family to be in danger because of him. Its the ONLY scene in all 7 books where we actually feel sorry for him and see him being real. They cannot ruin that! But then again, Yates ruins everything!

Posted by Rose37 May 15th 2008

There is no small parts, only small actors and actresses!!!

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 15th 2008

They don't NEED Myrtle...*sarcasm* They just need the toilet-animagus to scream "MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!!!!!"

Posted by Br00msticks May 15th 2008

This is one of the things that makes you ask yourself what the hell DID they keep in the movie? I mean, there's barely going to be any plot, they're probably going to focus all their energy on the romance.

Posted by MagicMaker222 May 15th 2008

the_shrieking_snack what you said was brilliant! Good laugh on that one!

Posted by kerrman2004 May 15th 2008

"Cuts lead to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to...POSTING YOUR TRUE FEELINGS ON MUGGLENET SO WATCH OUT David Yates!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol..." Well done shrieking_shack. Could not have said it better myself! Yates is pretty much an idiot at this point.

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 15th 2008

Thank you! I agree with you all.....Yates is a fool...... *sigh*

Posted by chidarkcy May 15th 2008

mmm i think it doesn't matter if she isn't in the scene... i rather prefer they put tonks in more scenes than just one... Moaning myrtle didn't do anything important with draco when sectumsempra occurs...

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 15th 2008

Tonks is in the scene where the Giant Squid shows its true colors.....lol.......*sar casm*

Posted by Snape_A_Doodle May 15th 2008

*sighs* I wont be surprised if he went and cut out Snape killing Dumbledore, and made him die of old age. Is Yates doing DH?!?! OH NO! We are doomed, he's probably plotting how to butcher it already

Posted by Rose37 May 15th 2008

If and only if Yates does behind great in movie 6 and from the looks of it, he won't be even asked to direct movie seven and that decision what be decide by the other heads of the movie series, but by the fans!!!

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 15th 2008

The Giant Squid kill Dumbles?!?!

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 15th 2008

Yup. Squids these days! I tell you!

Posted by Rose37 May 15th 2008

What are you talking about??? Snape kills dumbledore, after failer from Draco!!! Not the squid!!!

Posted by the_shrieking_snack May 15th 2008

Sar*cas*m = the art of saying the opposite of what you truly mean. Savvy? I know the squid doesn't kill Dumbles in the BOOKS...however...with the way Yates is taking things...

Posted by emcrocks May 15th 2008

OMG!!!!! That is like a bad thing!!!! But of course it is a small part and Shirley Henderson is like 42 so yeah.

Posted by Slither May 15th 2008

BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT!

Posted by peroxwhy_gen May 15th 2008

We all know the squid doesn't do anything. But the way the movie is going, something retarded like that is BOUND to happen.

Posted by Fia May 15th 2008

I HATE YATES!!!! These last 2 movies are going to suck! Is Malfoy going to hold a conversation with the mirror?
