Half-Blood Prince to be Moaning-Less
Potter fansite SnitchSeeker.com caught up with the agency who represents Shirley Henderson, the actress who has played Moaning Myrtle in Chamber of Secrets and Goblet of Fire. It was confirmed that Henderson will not be appearing in Half-Blood Prince, meaning Myrtle will not be there to console Draco before the sectumsempra scene. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

NO!!! THE TOILET-ANIMAGUS!! HOW MANY TIMES MUST I SAY THIS???
wow....really? He cuts an extremely minor character and a lot of you think the movie is ruined? Its not like he changed the plot, and he didn't even change the effect of the scene. The scene is about Harry and Malfoy, and then later Snape's reaction, it is not about Myrtle. Its not going to change the course of HBP, relax
It's not just a minor character cut, it's all the other cuts and additions, including this one. She does have a part in that scene. How else would Snape know? Yes Snape is supposed to be tailing Draco but is he so obvious he waits right outside the bathroom door and follows him as soon as he leaves?
Peroxwhy has a point! Is Snape going to stalk Malfoy? And, okay, it's the toilet animagus Malfoy's talking to... Why don't you suggest that idea to Yates? He'd like it a lot! :)
THE TOILET-ANIMAGUS LIVES!!!.... What's his name shrieking shack?
No! Myrtle is such a great character and Shirley Henderson plays her just so perfectly, it would have been nice to see her!
Aw man! That bites! I love that scene! So are they just going to leave out the whole scene with Harry and Draco dueling? Or are they just leave out Myrtle screaming "MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!"? And if so, how is Sanpe supossed to find them? So much come from that scene. For example, Harry hiding his potions book in the Junk Room (a.k.a the room of requirement), so that Snape doesnt find it, and then him seeing the diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw on the bust which turns out to be a horcrux. All in all, the scne itself may not be THAT important, but it leads up to alot. I wish Myrtle was going to be in it. :(
Um, Fia, I believe his name is Crapit Porcalinis. I could be wrong though...Daybop might change THAT as well...... >_
They dont NEED myrtle, they could get around it. Besides, just be happy the sectumsempra scene at all! oh yeah, my last point is this: *pokes Eragon, Narnia, Ella Enchanted, Twitches, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Beowulf, and alot of other movies* Yeah, just remember al lthose movies, that might as well have been advertised as a different movie, with the same names.
ok here is my one question if someone could answer it for me. what characters and scenes have the writers decided to cut out? so far reading through here ive only caught two the gaunts and moaning myrtle consoling draco. I'm really very upset that they have decided to cut the gaunt because for one they where a very big asset to the story. they are voldemorts past and without them we lose half the history in the story. as for myrtle i am really upset that they can't have a little like 5 minute scene with her. but then again time is money as they say so right now im in the middle about everything.
ANY FEMALE GHOST WHO TRIES TO SEE A BOY'S PENISS SHOULDN'T BE IN A HARRY POTTER MOVIE AT ALL! GO DAVID YATES, AND GOOD RIDDANCE TO UGLY MOANING MYRTLE!!!! GO SULK SOMEWHERE ELSE YOU PERVERT!
From what I heard, the Gaunts, Myrtle, the Dursleys, and Dumbledore's funeral have been cut And I guess all Tonks/Lupin scenes as they're automatically a couple and in one scene from my understanding. They've added some stupid scenes though, such as a Death Eater attack on the Burrow.
WHAT?!
ok im sorry but what the heck!!!!! those scenes are essential to the story line and plot i dont understand anything that those people in hollywood are doing. and the death eaters attacking the burrow? NO! follow what is written in the book. thats why the book is there its their guideline. my favorite part of the 6th book was the scene where lupin confessed how tonks was in love with him and how he could never be good enough for her. and then mrs.weasley saying how dumbledore would be extremely happy to know that there was a little more love in the world. what j.k. has written is fanominal and they should use as much of it as they can. why they would stray away from the book is beyond me. there is much more i could say on the subject but it would be quiet to long and would absolutely bore everyone to death. thanks for answering my question though! =]
What the heck!!! They took out the bloody funeral?!?!?! (I'm not British, just mad!) The bloody funeral is IMPORTANT Yates!!! and the best part of the book! I AM OFFICIALLY NOT GOING TO SEE THIS MOVIE! (and it coms out 2 days before my birthday) I'll wait for it to come out on DVD, UNLESS Yates puts the funeral back in! I could live without Myrtle... Crapit Porcalinis is a good addition to the cast. :)
IT'S SO SAD HOW STUPID AND GULLIBLE THE HARRY POTTER FANDOM IS... THE DUMBLEDORE FUNERAL SCENE WILL BE PUT IN THE MOVIE, AND ANYONE WHO SAID NO, IS STUPID AND NEEDS TO SEE THE PSYCHATRIST, I THINK THEY SUFFER FROM INFERIORITY COMPLEX AND NEEDS ATTENTION BAD, THIS IS JUST THE SAME TYPE OF SCANDAL THAT THOSE FAGS MADE UP OF OOTP, AND THEY ALL PROVED TO BE FALSE!
Phooenix_knight you forgot one thing.....OotP still wasnt the greatest Harry Potter movie now was it???? David Yates still killed it, so at this point it doesnt matter what was true and what wasnt. The fact of the matter is that after all of the cuts already made that are crucial to the next movie at the very least they are still making cuts...I propose we fire the entire team that is making the movie, except the actors, and hire back everyone who made the movies great and actually worth seeing.
Yates sucks. Moaning Myrtle is the only person Draco was every real with. Its the only scene in the whole 7 books where we feel sorry for Draco and understand that even though he's a total git, he's not actually evil like his father. He doesn't want his family to be in danger. So is Draco going to be talking and crying to himself in this scene or what? He needs to pour his heart out to Myrtle or the movie audience will never understand Draco like the book readers do. The movie audience will never feel sorry for him if they don't include that scene. What if they leave out the whole attack with the septumsepra spell and snape trying to save Draco. If they leave that out...there will be no words to express how stupid and lazy steve kloves and yates are. They're not even trying to portray the characters correctly any more, they're changing everything and leaving out all the character development, which is what HP is all about!
If Yates replaces Myrtle with Pansy Parkinson, I swear I'm gonna punch someone in the face. Everyone knows that Pansy is a cow. And Myrtle would be a great tie in to the second and fourth movies. *Is very sad*
Awwww :( Oh well, if they even included sectumsempra at all I would be happy. Right now I'm worried about the Gaunts.
Since character development is clearly a no-go, I can already see my favorite scene from DH being cut: The Malfoys running around the battle at Hogwarts looking for their son.
lol this would my brother happy, cause he kind of sort of likes harry potter, but does not really give a barrier that divides waters, about comic relief. But as for me I love each and every character.
HEY Slither, THAT'S ACTUALLY A GREAT IDEA! PANSY CHEERING UP DRACO IS SOO AMAZING, AND PANSY LOOKS HOTTER THAN MOANING MYRTLE, AT LEAST IN THE MOVIES. A GHOST SUCKING UP TO A BLOND WOULD LOOK SOOO GAY, NO OFFENSE. OH AND kerrman2004 , I RESPECT your opinion about OOTP, but just know that every single movie critic that critiqued on OOTP, whether a positive or negative critic, said that OOTP, was a REAL character piece, and basically the FIRST HP movie to show obvious character development, it was even on Ebert and Roeper. That's why David Heyman chose David Yates, above all, Yates is a good director for developing characters, and that is EXACTLY what he is going to do for HBP, that's why he wants to sacrifice some things, because in the end, it's all about the characters. Like in OOTP, Harry Potter had the BEST character development and training on acting by Yates. He really evolved in the movie, from a boy being angry at the world and regressing over the loss of his friend Cedric and denial that VOldy is back, to becoming a headstrong leader, who would take everyone to battle, and in the end, he became a better person, having resisted the darkside (Possession scene) and accepting death as victory rather than a loss ("Something worth fighting for"). and Neville Longbottom had some EXCELLENT development, basically from a wimp, to a courageous fighters boy who you would actuallly pick to be on your team! If that isn't character development, then i don't know what is. when i think of Alfonso Cuaraon, all i think of is artsiness and improvising on creativity.

I love the scene when the Malfoy's are running around looking for Draco! It made me cry! :)
I'm not a big Draco fan but I love that scene with Myrtle, because as said Myrtle is the only person Draco is himself with. I think it's because he fells so safe with her. Maybe because just because she's a ghost and he really needs someone to comfort him. And because she's a ghost needs someone to listen to. Just to hear someone talking. Making her fell more alive. That's why I think Pansy wouldn't work because Draco would just not open up to her in that way. But Pansy is better than nothing. But I'm guessing nothing is what we get. I can understand why they cut the scene out. It might make everything confusing. Altough it's just scenes like that what makes the books so amaing good and why the movies hasn't been upkeeping with the books. Anyway, this is just what I think :P
@ Phoenix_night : I'd rather it was a ghost than Pansy. In fact, If Myrtle can't do it, I would rather Draco did it by himself. Somehow if Pansy did it, it would seem cheap and one dimensional to me. plus Pansy is a cow, whereas Myrtle is a funny, pervy yet interesting character. No touching allowed during that scene in my opinion. Pansy would probably touch Draco shoulder or something equally terrible to try and console him. I already have to put up with enough romance - I have to freaking watch Harry and Ginny make out; which is bad enough already, without having to endure Pansy Parkinson. Geez.
Rofl! It seems to me that you're not a fan of teen romance Slither, I kinda like it! That's what all the previous HP movies have been lacking (forget the kiss of Harry and Cho), i prefer Harry and Ginny ;). I don't know if you're a former H/Hr shipper, but i can't wait to see him make out with Ginny. But don't worry mate, Romance is not going to clog HBP, the director Yates reassured us on that... it would've been TERRIBLE! But he's staying true to the tone of the books, and out of ALL 7 of the HP books, book 6: The Half-Blood Prince is the most ROMANTIC, i've noticed. Deathly Hallows, has some REAL adult LOVE in it, but it's held back because of the War, and all the events that happen in the book. so yeah, at least HBP, has QUIDDITCH, THE BATTLE, TOM RIDDLE SCENES, THE CAVE, SNAPE AND DRACO, and things like that.... so just get ready for the romance or makeout scenes if you don't like them.... i know i will ;)
I just realised that my above post is somewhat full of venom. lol. Sorry I get carried away when discussing potential amounts of Rom/Com in this movie. You're post is rather reassuring to me on the issue, actually. I was beginning to lose all hope on there actually being a plot to HBP, being as they seem to have cut the Gaunts, and added a Ginny-heavy Non- Cannon, Burrow-Burning subplot. Thanks for bringing me somewhat down to earth and looking more on the positive side of things haha. Also, Former H/Hr shipper NOTHING! As if!!! lol. I'm a Harry/Draco girl through and through. And a very loyal one at that. (That probably explains a lot of my reactions doesn't it?) ^_^ heh
Darn, I really like Moaning Myrtle. I'm sure the scene will be okay no matter what they do. I"m just happy to see it brought to life. I was upset they left out "Accio brain!" from OotP, because that was one of my favorite scenes in the book, and I wanted to see Ron act drunk...
yeah Slither, it quite does, lol. I still don't see why ppl pair both Harry and Draco together, it's just wrong to me, lol. I'm not homophobic though, cuz i'm a MASSIVE fan of D/G (Dumbledore and Grindelwald), haha! but yeah, i think that unlike the previous movie News, the crew members have taken upon themselves to actually keep us UPDATED on every single news they do, and i think it's kind of working AGAINST them. I mean look at it, they always announce, which scene they change, which character they cut, and how much romance and comedy are in it, alot MORE than the positive news, like Quidditch (which i know ALOT of HP fans were angry of its absence in OOTP), and all other stuff, WB hasn't been anouncing that as much. It's like they WANT to make the HP fans angry and saying they won't watch the movie. I don't like that. It's time for some positive HBP news, leave the rest as a suprise for all of us fans who don't wanna be spoiled like that. Because i think they're ruining this new HP film for some of the prejudgemental fans ALREADY! and that's not cool.

So there is going to be Quidditch in HBP? That's good! I was afraid they'd cut that out, too, AGAIN!
Quidditch cutters! What next? MAGIC MIRRORS?!?!...lol...jkjk
oh well...hahahaha i thought when i read the title that it meant somethng way more scandelous
Ahhhh! Thats terrible! shes supposed to comforting Malfoy!! And How will Snape get over there if she didnt say, "MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!" Then nobody would hear her. Shes awesome too cause shes so obnoixous!
um wtf, the scene is like nothing without her because shes a huge part of it?! they prolly dont want her there comforting malfoy because the directors or whatever want draco to seem all tough, but the die hard hp fans will definitely be screaming UM WHERES MURTLE? in the theatres
Don't forget, we'll be screaming threats at the screen, P.O'd because of all the new scenes they're adding! I'll get kicked out for sure! :)
phoenix_knight admit it...you ARE david yates. "David Yates, above all, Yates is a good director for developing characters, and that is EXACTLY what he is going to do for HBP, that's why he wants to sacrifice some things, because in the end, it's all about the characters." LOL That's why yates had sirius winking at harry throughout the movie. I almost expected him to wink before falling behind the 'curtain'.
You're not funny "ClosetPotterFan ". Please come up with some better jokes before talking to me next time, or do me a HUGE favor and don't watch the rest of the upcoming HP movies. Either that or STFU!

This just goes to show that they really don't care about the books. All you have to look at is the dismissal of the hospital scene after Dumbledore's death. Key in about five different ways. They are pathetic and weak!
crappp, i loved that scene! it still better be in the movie at least, though it would've been better with myrtle.
They never get it right! They always manage to take out the wrong stuff. Here's an idea, maybe the director and producer should actually sit down and read the books instead of just skimming through them. Good grief!
I agree with you SortingHat! :)
Wait so now they have also eliminated the scene after Dumbledores funeral? What next? Are they going to take out the scene where Katie Bell finds the necklace and is one her way to Hogwarts to deliver it and the is like suddenly possessed? If they take any more stuff out of this movie they are going to have a crisis on their hands! If they take any more stuff out of this movie I might not even go see it. And let me just say that I am completely, utterly, and totally obsessed with HP. If me and all the other people who are as obsessed with HP as I am don't go then that is saying something.
O M G! They always take out the good stuff...like Moaning Myrtle...now we can't see her moan anymore...and like other people said before, what in the world is going to happen in the Sectumsempra scene...wait...WTF? They took out the GAUNTS SCENE??? WHAT THE EFF, HOW THE HELL IS THAT GONNA WORK OUT, HOW THE EFF IS HE SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT TOM'S FAMILY HOUSE...IS IT GONNA RANDOMLY SHOW HIM IN SOME HOUSE THATS SUPPOSED TO BE THE GAUNTS WITHOUT SHOWING THE HOUSE FIRST IN THE PENSIVE??? Yeah, like they said...gonna be really odd to just see Snape deciding to use the bathroom at that specific time right after Harry casted sectumsempra at malfoy..
GOD WTH ARE THEY DOING. ALL THE HARRY POTTER MOVIES UP TO NUMBER THREE WERE GREAT, THE FOURTH ONE WAS OK, AND OOTP PRETTY MUCH SUCKED, EXCEPT THE FIGHTING PART. Just a little side note, why did the characters hair in OOTP look like crap? I mean, wtf happened? Harry shoulda kept his hair from the third movie IMO. IM STILL A FAN EVEN THOUGH ALL THIS IS HAPPENING. LONG LIVE HP.
