More details on JK Rowling's Potter Prequel
Yesterday we told you about the 800-word Harry Potter prequel that JK Rowing was writing for charity. Today, new details have emerged!First, Jo updated her official website this morning with news that the plot takes place 3 years before Harry is born. She also revealed her intentions in writing it:
Although I did feel a bit like a relapsing addict as I sat down to write - the words poured from my pen with frightening ease - I am NOT working on a prequel. Indeed, I've written that clearly at the bottom of the card itself. I just thought that this was the best way to make money for two extremely worthwhile charities.
Second, an article by The Guardian reveals that the story will include a plot around the Marauders - specifically James and Sirius.
A post to follow this one will include information we've received from Waterstone's, including a high res pic of the final line.

I don't see in the article where it says that the story will feature the marauders... it says something about a policeman...

First, why do people get so excited about being one of the first post? Well, anyways...I have a real comment. I am glad she is raising money for charity but why not publish the book, sell it to the public and then donate all the profits to charity. Wouldn't that make more sense? Just like all of the other books, I would be waiting in line, money in hand. Help 2 groups out...the less fortunate and the desperate Harry Potter fans. She could make a killing for charity!
I agree with meh1310, she should go ahead and do an actual prequel and donate the proceeds...it's not like she needs the money and she knows her fans will love her for it!!!
I totally agree with meh1310 and hmrpotter ... if she just published it, she would make WAAY more money than through an auction ... she could donate all that to the two charities ... and her fans would love her all the more. It's a win-win. I don't like this new trend of auctioning off her works that she's started. I could still understand it in the case of the Tales of Beedle the Bard, where there were twelve handwritten copies, with studded covers and what not, but now it's just getting unfair. All of us can't be multimillionaires.
I would love a Marauder prequel in a way. But in another I've done so many Marauder fics that I wouldn't want to know the actual truth!

Guys! Seriously, open your eyes! It's very difficult to publish a book. And Jo probably doesn't want to publish a book (on it's own) for a while, nor WRITE a book! I think it's a brilliant idea to put an 800-word-story into a book amongst many other short stories. Besides, think about it! An 800-word BOOK?! Get outta here!

hello i would just like to say i agree with mah's comment about the prequel why not make a book and sell it to every reader you would make a killling i'm a big fan and feel a bit let down that only the people with loads of money will get the chance to get a copy thanks from witchy poo 12 years
