New interview with Mary GrandPre
TIME Magazine has a new interview online with US Potter illustrator Mary GrandPre. In it, she talks about illustrating the new Sorcerer's Stone Special Edition cover (announced last week):It was really a nice opportunity. As Harry grew, I always wished I could go back and make a new piece for each book. So when the anniversary cover idea came up, I was really excited to do that. It's like getting to do a new portrait of this old soul you really know.
Thanks to everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

great. I love this cover in particular. :-)
I have a poster she signed of the deathly hallows cover, my daughter won it at the book release party:) We love it, even though it was my least favorite cover!
oh god i love the new cover!!!! don't have money to buy it though.... top 10? =]
Great! I love the new cover. I can't wait to hold it and really examine it.
I too love the cover, but I too can't buy the book!!! HP all over again!!!
I love the cover......and the cover loves me! XD
Did anyone notice that there's an error on the Scholastic cover for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince? It says in the book that Dumbledore's right hand is blackened and shriveled, yet on the book cover his right hand is over the basin and it doesn't look at all shriveled.
Even that I have the first ilustration, the second (the aniversary) is really good. congratulation Mary G, for a job well done.
Mary GrandPre is such a great artist.
i really dont like it. it looks really... whats the word, very very, cartoony. kind of like a cheap Cartoon Network version of Haryy Potter. Why oh why she didn't make him look the same way he did orginally?
I think Mary Grand Pre does such a wonderful job with the covers. It's always exciting when they're released because she does a terrific job with giving us hints and clues that end up being crucial. She's also incredible with setting the mood and tone of the book. I like her overly stylized characters :)
That was a really nice interview. She does an amazing job with the illustrations.
I dont get why the US have different covers to the rest of the world??
