Magical Acts of Kindness - HPA Project Launched!
Magical Acts of Kindness - HPA Project Launched! Yesterday, July 1st, the Harry Potter Alliance officially launched a new project called Magical Acts of Kindness.

Publicized at Wrockstock 2008 and set in motion by the amazing Jess and Lauren, this project encourages participants to do small acts of kindness every day.

The introductory post on the site states, “The idea is that, just like Hermione trying to help out the house elves, we all need a little appreciation and encouragement sometimes, and it’s amazing how much difference the smallest of gestures can make. Even a simple smile or holding a door open for someone can completely turn their day around. We’re sure that if you think for a moment you’ll be able to find something that’s happened recently that made your day a whole lot better, yet didn’t take much effort on the part of the other person. Well, that’s what we want you to do.”

To find out more about this wonderful project and how you can do your part, please visit the Harry Potter Alliance website or the Magical Acts of Kindness page.

The HPA is helping to restore my faith in the human race.

Sorry to say, this is a total ripoff of Random Acts of Kindness.

That's good. Although everyone should have been being kind without having to follow a project.

Who cares if it's a "ripoff"? Here's a starter - A co-worker of mine is a single mom of 5 kids, and only works part-time for child care reasons. She was struggling really bad this year-nothing in the cupboards and no gas for the car-not even sure what to give her children for dinner. I am hardly rich, but remember these types of struggles so I went out and got her a grocery store gift card and a gas gift card, enough for a tank of gas and a weeks groceries. Not a huge deal for me, but I knew those kids ate that night because of me, and she was so grateful. That's the kind of stuff that changes people's lives. Come on-I know more of us have done these things-let's hear about them!!

elementx2o, it isn't a "rip-off"; it's something the HPA often does. They take existing projects (Rock the Vote, for example) and Potterize them. It's just a way to get more people to take action, and to do so in the name of Harry Potter.

This is a great idea, because more people really need to start helping other people and stop acting like jerks. And I don't agree with elementx2o that this is a rip-off, it's just a way for more people to help out (a.k.a. what colorfulcrocs just said).

Finally, a great charity that I can be apart of!!! Tho the thought of being seen doing a great deed, will go to our heads and not of the thought of just doing something nice, just because. Just be warned!!! Be careful and always remember want is more inportant, Fame or put a smile on someone's face???

This is a sweet reminder of what we should do everyday! :)

I just came back from helping my friend with her community survice and I wanted to tell you all about it!!! You see my friend is homeschooled and she needs to do some community survice to graduate from highschool and her middle school brothers wanted to join in as well, just to get some hours in!!! Anyways. I joined in just because of not having anything else better to do on this 4th, but ended up glad I had hoped out, because cleaning up a park, gives you a oppatuity to find really neat stuff and the best of it all, we get to keep what we find(As long as the stuff is ok and not harmful)!!! For this, I had to wake up at 7am to get ready by 7:45, but I kind of sleeped in too late and ended up waking up at 7:45 and was ready by 7:50. Lucky the park was 10mins away from my house. Also because of the park not really being that messy. The cleanup only took about two hours tops with a break as part of the time. The rest of the 2 hours, was spend as free time exploring the grounds. I really didn't know that work could be so much fun, until today. Now I wish that I didn't go to public school. Being homeschool is way better!!! So I say to you all, please help out as much or as little as you can, because it really feels good helping out and you never know what you will find. The more people helping the easyer the time will go by and the more fun you will have!!! O and by the way, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!
