Complete 1st edition set sells for over 17k pounds A couple of days ago we told you about a signed and complete set of 1st edition Potter books that went on the auction block.

Today, the BBC reports that the set sold for £17,800 (or $35,470). This did not include the 15% buyer's premium plus VAT.

Thanks to Cat for the tip!

Nagini2- Is it really necessary to say you're first? Everyone can see that, so why don't you comment someone worthy to the story. Anyways, I'm glad that they sold for that much!

Posted by up2nogood Jul 2nd 2008

I, for one, hate it when people get all worked up over what someone types on the internet. But maybe that's just me...

Posted by alykat95 Jul 2nd 2008

That's a good amount of money . . . and pygmypuff811, I have to agree, I wish I had it. It went to charity again right? At least it's a good cause. To bad I didn't have the money to buy those books either. You don't come across first edition signed copies often . . . and the whole series too, wow.

Wow, people! Calm down! What the flip!? If they're first and it really makes their day to proclaim it to the world, LET THEM! If you think its moronic, don't do it yourself! gosh! GO EAT PIE! I think its cool that the books fetched that kind of money btw...

Well said, shrieking_snack.

It's just amazing to see books bring sooooo much money for charity. Now adays that's rare. I'm so glad that they fetched as much as they did.

Nagini2, if you are proud to be the first one to post a comment to an item on Mugglenet then I applaude you. There was a time when there would be 100 posts on every silly little item they had within 5 minutes but those days have passed. I'm sure Mugglenet appreciates people like you that continue to support this site. BTW...22ND!!!!!
